I ain't a fan of Transformers nor do I know much about it other than Vehicle Robots but I'm curious to know whether Optimus Prime is selling poorly ? I always see it on offer and discount

I'd like 2007 movie versions of Optimus and Bumblebee though

Optimus has been doing great, as evidenced by the fact he's still selling after two full years. Of course he's hitting offers and discounts now given how long he's been out, but he's been very popular.

Do you guys reckon that we could see minifig-scale Transformers in the future? G1 Optimus’s transformation is so simple that I bet they could make a play-scale version.

Or they could always do creator style. (You either build the Robot or the vehicle)

I do think significantly smaller transformers are possible. I don't think it could be pulled off at, say, speed champions scale, but I could see a $40-50 optimus.

Transformers One is without a doubt the single greatest transformers film of all time and one of the best animated films I've ever seen. A year or so ago I said I wouldn't want transformers one sets as the concept of the film sounded dumb to me, I could never have been more wrong. I would LOVE sets for this film, even if it was, like, construction figure style figures of their pre-transforming versions.

Possible. Though I've tried making a smaller scale transforming Optimus. And the main issue I've run into is hiding the hands in truck mode. And having a decent flip out head.
The larger scale of the current Optimus gives more space to hide robot parts within the truck cab. Plus also being up to Lego's quality of play with sets.
If you go smaller. You run into stability issues.

Fair enough.

TFP Beast Hunters Optimus is perfect for a construction figure imo. He doesn’t need a vehicle mode because he is the vehicle!!!

It can be done, as many fans have shown, it's just near-impossible to do one that isn't exceedingly unstable.

This is true, although since he basically turns into a brick with wheels I don't think it'd be all that hard to make him transform anyway.

DaveBricks1995, the guy who leaked Plo Koon’s Starfighter and the U-Wing, has said that there’ll be more transformers things in 2025.

YES. Preferably one of the decepticon "Big Three", but who am I kidding, I'll buy anything G1, evergreen, One, etc.

I'm normally not a big "buildable object" guy but I really, really want to see lego do an 18+ Matrix of Leadership. It just got a big recognition bump from one... assuming anyone else goes and watches it :cry_sad:. It's really good guys, I swear, it's really good, please don't let the live action stuff dissuade you from seeing this.

TFP Beast Hunters Optimus is the DC Absolute Universe’s Batmobile confirmed?!!!!

Depends on whether or not Absolute Batman can throw him.

Quick question about that;
Is Transformers One actually a prequel to the live action movies, or more a new telling of the G1 story?
I've yet too see the movie. It just doesn't play at convenient times for me, currently and I also can't find anyone to go with :sing:

No. Producer Lorenzo DiBoventura (I think I spelled that wrong) claims it's "3 billion years" or something stupid like that before the live action stuff, but he also claims the Micheal Bay movies are in the same universe as Bumblebee and ROTB, which they objectively can't be. (The autobots arrive on earth for the first time in bumblebee in 1987, meaning they can't in the first Bay movie in 2007, Unicron is, well, Unicron in ROTB meaning he can't be earth in the Bay movies, and a number of smaller things.) Transformers one objectively cannot be the same universe as the micheal bay movies- the lore of the One universe is completely different from the lore in the Bay universe, and there are other more spoilery things.

TLDR: It's a new universe/continuity not connected to anything else.

It's also REALLY GOOD. I know the trailers make it seem overly comedic and kiddie, but it's never as jokey as the trailers make it out to be, and at a certain point in the movie things get serious and remain so for pretty much the rest of the movie.

Good to hear, thanks!

I would've watched it even if it WAS supposedly connected to the live action movies (by millions of years or not) but I was wondering how they'd fit that in.
Not that, as you explained, there's any logic in the timeline of the Bay/Bee movies now

And, yeah, the trailers make the movie look very kiddified, but that's actually what kind of drew it to me, from the beginning.

@TandNbricks is hinting at more Transformers sets, even outside the 18+ line we currently have!

So far, he only confirms one non-18+ set :classic:

Ooh, sounds promising!

I would happily buy a £30 Optimus Construction figure.

£50 if Agent Fowler is included.

AWESOME.

My guess is this is probably just Transformers One construction figures, which is funny because I posted here about how much I didn't want that when the rumors first came out about a year ago, but now that the film turned out to be so good, I would love that. Though my preference would still be anything that actually transforms, of course. I really do think G1 Optimus could be made with about the same detail- and more articulation- than his G1 figure at more or less Voyager/Leader scale.

Same.

Honestly I don't know why Bumblebee didn't come with Spike and/or Carly. It would be nice to get more human characters like the G1 Witwickys, Skybound Spike and Carly, Fowler, mech suit Noah, Shia Lebouf and Mark "If I was on that plane things would have gone differently" Wahlberg

Theory: since Lego is focusing so heavily on F1s next year, I imagine one of the Transformers sets might be Mirage or Dragstrip (less likely).

It has to be among the legendary 7. Those include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave, Grimlock and Devastator. My bets are on Grimlock or Megatron

Honestly, I hope for Soundwave. A set with him and several cassettes would be neat!

I made a video reviewing both optimums prime and bumblebee. In that video I talk about how soundwave would be a great fit in lego form.

I'm not sure sure- I suppose it's possible they do a speed champions set of Mirage's vehicle mode or something as a tie in (Which would be an insane pick over Camero Bee or any of the more popular G1 alt modes) but I don't think people would pay for a $100+ mirage figure, especially compared to Grimlock or one of the major Cons.

Devastator is a wild choice for #7 there. I tend to see people say the "big four" of the cons are megs, screamer, and the waves- shockwave as the fourth. Plus I feel like characters like Arcee are more well known. Devastator is awesome, don't get me wrong, but he tends to be more of a grunt (Not to mention in this specific context he'd be just about impossible to pull off in lego form unless he was like $700)

I’d pay for Smokescreen or Sideswipe. But Wheeljack would probably be the next best choice for sports car since they’ve just done Bee.

And I'd love smokescreen (Either the G1 styled one or Not Rod from TFP - who I love, don't get me wrong, but you can't tell me that he wasn't Hot Rod until Hasbro got worried people might still hate him) or sideswipe, but I'm just not sure they'd sell at bumblebee scale. Speed Champions, though? I can't believe we haven't started getting that.

Wheeljack I do think could make it at big scale, he's in that Ratchet/Ironhide/Arcee tier of being right behind Optimus/Bee/Grimlock in terms of iconicity. Though I might be biased since he's my favorite.

Optimus Prime Helmet probably :P

I wouldn't mind that (though it wouldn't be at the top of my list) - but what I REALLY want from 18+ transformers is a buildable Matrix of Leadership. I honestly am surprised we didn't get one the second they realized G1 Prime was doing well. They love their 18+ buildable and as far as transformers go that's THE relic.

5 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said:

The helmet sets are 18+ though

Which luckily means a subline is likely- we don't often get one-offs for kids.

Here are my theories, in order of how much I want them (All assumably G1/evergreen designs unless otherwise noted)

1: Actual transforming figures at a smaller size. This is unlikely due to how hard it'd be to pull off, even at core class level articulation, but I had to mention it. I feel like a G1 prime might actually be doable.

2: Speed Champions versions of transformers vehicles. Camero Bee from the Bayverse and then a number of the G1 sports cars, whether it's the Lambros, Wheeljack, Mirage, even characters like Prowl/Smokescreen/the streaks.

3: 2-in-1s: I put these below the car-only ones as I feel like at least one of the modes is going to be hampered badly by this, but it's the best way to represent transformers "transforming" at that scale without too much difficulty.

4: Construction figures. I feel like these would be hampered by the excellent Blockees figures, which are only $14 each for pretty excellent beginner-level model kits, but Lego is Lego so I don't think the G1 main cast or Bayverse Bee/Optimus would sell poorly.
