I don't think it would be all that different than the helmet collection already is. Venom, Carnage, not to mention it's not like Spider Man's mask keeps it's shape like a helmet. More importantly, even if it is viewed as his severed head, one of the most famous comic issues of the original marvel run centers around Optimus Prime's severed head. (The one with the iconic "The transformers are all dead" cover featuring Shockwave) Still, I do think a Matrix would be the best 18+ buildable. Quote

Devastator is a wild choice for #7 there. I tend to see people say the "big four" of the cons are megs, screamer, and the waves- shockwave as the fourth. Plus I feel like characters like Arcee are more well known. Devastator is awesome, don't get me wrong, but he tends to be more of a grunt (Not to mention in this specific context he'd be just about impossible to pull off in lego form unless he was like $700) These are internal terms used in hasbro. The reason Devastator is there despite his rarity in media is because he's the most iconic combiner. TFSlagpodcsat talks about it a lot Quote

It would be kinda funny, especially if they went all-in and made the stand look like one of the times Optimus's severed head has been featured. We just got a figure including his severed head, wires coming out and all, on a stand. 19 hours ago, PaleozoicBricks said: These are internal terms used in hasbro. (I watch Slag, too, no idea how I missed this.) I wonder if that's changed- I know it came out recently that Hasbro stepped in when the earthspark guys wanted to make Thundercracker female because he's got evergreen status. I wonder if they're two separate tiers or if one morphed into the other. Quote

I wonder if they're two separate tiers or if one morphed into the other. I also see it as Hasbro trying to push certain characters too. Best example Elita one. Went from literally no toys to we cant stop getting them. I think the reason they pushing her more than Arcee is due to the fact she has a connection with Optimus Prime. I think the thundercrack situation is due more to the fact female characters just don't sell as well as their male counterparts. Skywarp could be a good testing grounds but what would happen if both were to be shelf warmers. At least that's how I could see hasbro seeing that. Quote
The_Fiery_Rooster Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 You know, ever since the rumor of a non 18+ transformers set got out there, I've had the same terrible thought in my head, and I haven't seen anyone here say it either. What if it's just a brickheadz? Despite clearly being marketed for collectors, they're only marked as 10+, so it would be correct to call it not an 18+ set. A leaker also confirmed there's no new themes coming out in the first half of 2025, so either this transformers set comes out after may, or it's under an existing theme. We do have a list of brickheadz for 2025 and there's no transformers to be seen on it, but I do think it's still possible we may see one soon. Maybe I'm too much of a downer, but I feel like it's likely that's what this means, unless there's some evidence to the contrary that I haven't seen. Hopefully we find out soon. Quote

I dunno if I'd call three generations figures since the WFC era started "we can't stop getting them", but yeah they did remember she existed recently. (Still waiting on a G1/Skybound version though- the Legacy one isn't close enough to G1 for me). Though I've always liked her more than Arcee so I'm glad she got the bigger role in TFONE and the WFC trilogy. I mean, they let them make Skywarp female, but not thundercracker, allegedly because thundercracker has something called evergreen status. I haven't seen the show but from what I heard they just replaced thundercracker with a more obscure seeker to make female (Nova Storm I think- the whole situation is really funny to me because there ARE female seekers in the lore like Slipstream), so it's not like it would have impacted the male/female ratio of toys on shelves. All this is just making me want a lego seeker so I can recolor it 80 billion times. Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Sunstorm, Nova Storm, Acid Storm, Ion Storm, Redwing, Hotlink, Bit... something or other, the generic blue one, and then the slight mod for Slipstream and the mod for the coneheads- Dirge, Thrust, Ramjet, Cloudcover, G2 Ramjet, Sandstorm, etc. 37 minutes ago, The_Fiery_Rooster said: You know, ever since the rumor of a non 18+ transformers set got out there, I've had the same terrible thought in my head, and I haven't seen anyone here say it either. Honestly I wouldn't hate this. Obviously I'd much prefer transforming figures or at least 2-in-1s, but brickheadz are cheap, they're fun, I wouldn't mind having a shelf of the G1 cast in brickheadz form. Though I'd buy anything from lego transformers. Quote

Who knows both 84 deceptions. That's as evergreen as you can get. Personally, I've always seen Skywarp as a blank slate vs The more nuanced Thundercracker. Comic wise he is a very interesting character. Quote

They could, but I feel like removing the robot modes takes away a pretty damn big part of Devastator. That would be fun. A Rodimus and Galvatron two pack could be cool down the line. Or a Grimlock in dino mode. 26 minutes ago, RichardGoring said: Ransom Fern would still probably rebrick them into something that looked like a movie prop! Fern finds a way. Quote
pjhinthehouse Posted November 7, 2024 Posted November 7, 2024 I would agree that Megatron and Soundwave should be definite contenders for the next ones. I've done my own MOCs but I've been a little limited by what I have available. Quote

That being said, I won’t get my expectations up too high with the inclusion of cassettes, if any. Hope the designers realize that if they make Soundwave without including cassettes, it would be like making a GWP of classic space men without air tanks. mantax Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 It's great to know that more Transformers sets are coming, especially that we finally get a Decepticon, and I hope that they will continue. I'd say that soundwave makes the most sence to be next one, because of him not having a too complicated transformation, and he is still very recognizable, with his face even being based on the decepticon logo. Now for the actuall set I'd expect him to be a bit smaller then Optimus, with around 120-140 pcs including a gun and maybe 2 cassetes, which I would be interested on how they could make them transform, since that would be quite complicated. The price I'd see being on the same rule as bumblebee with only a bit less then 10 ppp. Quote
Artanis I Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Correct decision. If there are tapes, it's possible they won't be transformable at that size. I'd rather have compromise on the tapes than on Soundwave. But Laserbeak, Frenzy & Ravage would be the ones we'd need made! Quote
CF Mitch Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Oooh, Soundwave! Personally, I'm not that interested in him, but I'm sure he'll be a great build. And, in any case, this'll save me some money and room for the Transformer after that Regards, Mitch Quote
pjhinthehouse Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 (edited) I was going to redo my Soundwave to more closely resemble G1 but maybe I should hold off. For me the 3 main Decepticons would Megatron, Soundwave and Starscream. Megatron is a bit of an interesting one as I'm not sure Lego would be keen on making the gun disguise as it was quite realistic. So the tank variant (similar to mine) would probably be the direction they'd go. Would be nice to have 3 of each. Not sure who would be the third autobot though (not Blaster, as he's too close to Soundwave). Edited November 19, 2024 by pjhinthehouse Spelling Quote
Scarilian Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 Soundwave does make the most sense, he's blocky enough that he's not that complicated. I'd imagine the main appeal will be the 'eject' gimmick and they'll probably find a way to include Ravage & Laserbeak as figures with mixel joints while perhaps giving us an ejectable casette build of Frenzy. I doubt they'll have transforming casette builds, but they'd still want to include some additional playability as Soundwave would just be a stationary robot or a block. I'm still leaning more to Megatron being the next set with a tank or truck alt-mode than Starscream, I think having a flying alt-mode makes it more tricky from an official Lego design standpoint as it'd likely need to have swooshability and not fall apart easily. CloneCommando99 Posted November 19, 2024 Posted November 19, 2024 I think that we all know that after Soundwave, it’s only logical that we get Shockwave. Quote

Lego Transformers so far have done a pretty good job including the most prominent parts of each character, even if they stumbled a little bit on Bumblebee's bot mode. 16 hours ago, mantax said: It's great to know that more Transformers sets are coming, especially that we finally get a Decepticon, and I hope that they will continue. I've listed out my hopes for them before but to be honest, if they give us smaller scale transformers, the only non-titans I'd still want at this size (besides the three we have/know are coming) are Megatron, Starscream, and Grimlock. 13 hours ago, Artanis I said: Correct decision. Agreed on that last bit, but I do think they can give us transforming cassettes. They won't look great in at least one mode, to be sure, but with Mixel joints I think you can make something that's at least stable and resembles a tape in one mode and a birb/cat/small man in another. 19 minutes ago, CloneCommando99 said: I think that we all know that after Soundwave, it’s only logical that we get Shockwave. As logical as that is, I think Megs and Starscream will still show up first. Shockwave's iconic but apparently not one of Hasbro's top 7 or whatever their highest tier is. And Megatron can be done fairly easily if they just make him a cybertronian tank (which I think someone just needs to go tell the designers, because seriously it is not difficult to make a lego G1 Megatron that turns into a tank. Only procrastination stops mine from being completed and posted here, he's like 80% of the way done and I've taken great pains to make sure he should be up to lego's stability standards) Quote
