Enson sneaks forward and attempts to open the chamber but finds it locked. The Ornithun inhabiting the pod wakes up and stares at the Quo'ri. A yellow mass swirls in the pod adjacent as a giant predatory fish swims gracefully in the opposite container.

"Maybe they had you take a degree to pass the time? We killed four guards and some other person so far. None of them had any passcodes or anything like that on them. Just weapons and this Crash drug. Enson found some datapads one of them was locked by 1-2-3. Worth a shot..."

Jonk tries to key in numerical entries, but the passkey errors. It seems the code was alphabetical.

The source of the voices are not visible. Looking further down the hallways, Enson notes that the paths eventually splinter into many side aisles.

The Ornithun scoots to the back of the cell as Enson's weapon digs into the containment unit. Sparks fly and a putrid smell of burning materials fills the air. After a few minutes Enson saws a hole big enough for the captive to escape her prison. The Ornithun looks quizically at Enson before giving a curt bow.

The voices pause for a moment and then continue, this time further away.

"Perhaps someone could try hacking the machine?"

Jonk goes back to the lab and inspects the golden Scorpion found earlier and looks for any notes or datapads. He will also stick out his tongue at the doctor.

If that doesn't turn up anything Jonk will inspect the tunnel the doctor came out off.

Jonk Perception Check (1,3) - (5,6,4,6) 4 Successes

The Celestial rummages around in the lab. He finds a few scattered notes about the Golden Scorpion identifying it as a Bicuvian Gilded Sleeper whose distilled venom can create a poison highly resistant to magical cures. A number of other lab-books compile the doctor's notes on a tremendous number of the collection's specimens. Jonk finally unearths a note about needing to update the archive's server passcode system:

Enson will examine the Ornithun and assess their health. He will also look over the gaseous being in the adjacent pod.

The Ornithun is on the thinner side, her plumage dull most likely from her storage conditions. As Enson interacts with her he notes that she is mute having had her tongue cut out.

Enson Nature Check (DC 2) - (4,5,3) 2 Successes

Upon studying the gaseous being for a while, Enson realizes that this must be a Quarm in it's natural form.

Enson's face had set hard, his mouth a line set in a wall of stone. Turning to Bertram he said "Listen, I'm sorry to ask you this, but I need you to escort this person to safety. I'll also need you to contact Tokiel Memorial, tell them we need immediate emergency assistance - at least one pressure suit for a Quarm, and likely more. Can you do that?"

Enson will attempt a persuasion check if necessary.

"I doubt he can regrow a missing tongue. I don't think this person has any useful information anyway. I am more interested in getting the defenseless civilian to safety."

Jonk manages to corral the scorpion into a smaller cage for transport, though it is quite feisty. Returning to the vault he tries the code SNAKE

"But... Jippo... Please make sure he's ok... if somethin' else were to happen to him... I don't know what I'd do with myself." The young dwarf offers his arm to the Ornithun for support. "I'll... I'll see what I can do. Don't think it'll be easy. If the Archivist has been operatin' here for a while, I'm sure they've got ways of keepin' things quiet." Bertram gives one last look back toward the party before leading the Ornithun out of the hideout.
