Do you realize that Medveval Blacksmith set supposed to include a goat mold originally? However, the desginers claimed the mold is “broken and burned for good”. I really don’t think the goat mold is that buried deep…. I’m sure TLG would resurrect goat one day - in other word, TLG is very very unpredictable.

The thing is, whether or not the goat mould is broken doesn't mean we can never have a goat again. It just means we need a designer to decide it's worth some of that theme's budget to introduce the mould.

90th Anniversary Castle set is probably one with a big budget, and more likely than most themes to feature a goat. If we don't see one this year it'll probably be many years!

True, the cow horn did get re-introduced again fairly recently and this castle does happen at the same time as a City Farm subtheme, so this is the best time if anything for bringing back the goat and cow and maybe some other color of horse (beside Tan and Dark Orange)

Exactly! You got it!

Just checked and i bought 4 mill village raid sets so i have 8 goats!  They are each worth as much as the whole set was originally priced haha crazy.

Honestly i feel bad for all the great castle submissions on lego ideas.  They will never get picked with this set on the way.

Yeah I remember cow horns were re-released last summer. I feel like this is a perfect timing for cow to be back into existence after long time.

So I think goat may be closer to existence soon.

Agreed on horse in different color. Mayb black or white.

IMO, the castle needs to have at least four horses, since there were four in the original set from which this one seems to be drawing inspiration. Not all of them need to be Lion Knights, but fewer than four horses overall would be a bit frustrating.

A goat seems likely to me, both due to its popularity, and to the fact that the mould can be reused in a CMF (Series 23, perhaps?).

A cart with a new design, drawn by a cow (in what seems to be Nougat), and containing a farmer with a new torso, appears at 0:36 of the DeLorean announcement video, so I can see a cow appearing in the Anniversary castle.

The cow is confirmed to be in the new City farm sets, and if memory serves, a new calf as well.

At this point, the goat has become a meme. The common conception is that the old mold was damaged beyond repair, so if they are coming back, it'll be with a new mold.

Having appeared in a few sets, including an upcoming City farm set, if we are to receive any livestock outside of horses, I expect to see sheep.

Edit for clarity: One farm set (60346) is supposed to come with a black/white cow with calf, pink pig with piglet and a sheep with a lamb.

I mean, yeah horses are purely iconic to Castle theme. But what about rats? Lamb? Sheep?

With horses alone, this castle may feel not right. A few aniamls will be good enough.

I would much rather have them focus on the build and the minifigs than animals.  But I'm sure we will get a horse or two.  A great castle with nice interior sections and a good variety of minifigs would be ideal.  If they throw in animals great if not it's not going to matter for me anyway.  With all the animals in the city sets recently it will be easy to pick up animals.

Agreed on minifigs for sure. New/updated lion knights and civilian figs are vitally important.

I feel less urgent on the livestock. With the new City farm sets heading our way this summer, we should have plenty of opportunities to load up on more animals.

Yes, City are doing a fantastic job in the animal mould department lately and we can get a lot there. On the other hand that makes it cheaper for a set like this to include them and how many civilian figs have we gotten previously in Castle sets that has no livestock in them?! :sceptic:

Horses should be the only focus on animals in a set like this.

Sure, some other farm animals or a throwback to things like a grey parrot/falcon would be nice but Horses are too iconic to Castle to miss out on and something 3-in-1 theme doesn't provide.

A King's carriage with 2 horses, a king's horse (or rival joust horse), and then some knights would be very nice to see in a big set , 3-4 horses in such a set wouldn't be strange, should at least have 2 minimum to have a joust.

I agree they should fill up the stable first in this set when it comes to animals, but I hope they do not stop there  After Castle and Western disappeared and Paradisa etc moved to Friends, horses show up only once every leap year

However…I don’t think a castle will have a LOT of animals so I’m kinda against Roebuck’s opinion. I think between 3 - 5 aniamls being included in this set along with a more wide range of minifigures is quite fair.

That is probably more realistic number, but I am setting myself up for disappointment and expect more

I agree, this would be a great set to bring back the goat, but we will soon see.. I really hope this has a lot more budget than the Ideas blacksmith set or we may be in trouble *huh*

I agree, If they give us less than 4 hoses in this set that will be bad after all they managed to include 4 reindeer in the small "battle pack set"

Do you have any source for the colours? I have not heard them mentioned previously :sceptic:

To be quite honest it's not all that common for large D2C sets to introduce new molds unless it's some sort of essential building element or occasionally, a licensed character part. For a non-licensed set like this, I doubt we'd see something like a new goat mold since a goat, while nice to get, is hardly essential for the subject matter in question. Even if they wanted to have livestock (which itself I think isn't the most essential for a castle), it'd be easier and cheaper to use something like the pig or sheep that'd free up more of the set's budget to use elsewhere.

In terms of "likelihood" I still think the most likely way a new goat would be released wouldn't be with a D2C set like this, but rather in something like a CMF series accompanying a goatherd/farmer figure of some sort. And I don't think the chance for that is going to go away any time soon.

The new Botanical Collection set 10309 contains 4 green forestmen hats being used as leaves. This reassures me that forestmen may be returning in this year's set or CMF. For anybody who purchased the Castle in the Forest or ordered parts to build it like I did when I missed out on the initial order, you can replace those pesky gray ones.

You were the one who told me that I would set myself for disappointment when it comes to Farm subtheme if I expected too much.  So I took your advice. :classic:

I think that information came from the source “Stonewars”. It’s where we got info in the first place months ago.

I've not built my version yet, but I thought that Castle in the Forest didn't have any of these hats? The original design included them, and then the grey version was used, as it was in production. But I recall the designer saying that the part wasn't available to him, so he had to remove it from the final version. Either way, I dithered on whether to get some from Bricks & Pieces, but decided against it as they were pretty expensive for something that didn't add much value (being the wrong colour). So pleased that green ones are in the Succulents set though. Hopefully they appear on Bricks & Pieces, rather than buying a $50 for four hats!

The red plums are back in stock on Bricks and Pieces or the new Pick a Brick hub. That would be the first time in many years both parts are available at the same time in this configuration.

Found that here. References a German site, but finding the original source is tough since I don’t speak German.

Thanks, used google translate and Stonewars say that the info are most likely from prelims in the shop catalogue so they may be different colour in the final sets :classic:

The forestman hat is in the bard in the cmf that just came out a couple of months ago and they have used it in grey in the city sets so that's not a guarantee that it will be in the castle set.  So they have been using the mold for various things.

And why not likely for goat mold?

Yup, that’s right. I remember Stonewars did say that a few month ago.

We have forest hats, all we need is a new torso print.

I'm not one of those people who think the goat is going to return in every set for the next 20 years and then in 2047 when it does return go 'Told you so'.

Quite true.

But I’m not 100% convinced what desginers had said about that broken goat mold. To me, it doesn’t spell- “T-H-E E-N-D”. It’s possible that a goat would return one day, maybe not in this set. Maybe not this year. Maybe not year. But definitley, there will be one day.

Remember, what I said? Lego is unprecitable. :oh3:

I think that’s all true, but in the context of a set coming out this year, and in the context of the year also having a farm series that is not only reportedly goat-less, but also includes 3 new baby animal molds, I think it’s more than reasonable that we should expect no goats in the near future.
