Now we only miss Wolfpack, Dragon Knights and Fright Knights from the Classic line-up. The red&white Maltese cross faction probably did not make it due to religious connotations to the Templars.

I thought they always had a policy against religious themes.  And it didn’t stop them from having that shield originally.  Hope that’s not the case but does seem odd that they only left that one out from the yellow castle.  There were a couple other shields from classic castle pre lions sets that were not included as well.

I'm already thinking about custom knight minis to represent some of those shields.  Maybe I'll use some old classic Space dudes for their Classic torso and leg colors, and slap some armor and helmets over em to cover any insignias.

Tournament Knight's colors would actually match well with the cross axes.  Now I need to find a tournament knight...

And RB's review at 7:14 reveals the Forestmen Shield is not exclusive to the GWP after all. Yey!

Fantastic! I need a couple more for Castle In The Forest, so if I can get them on P&B I'll be stoked.

All of the others look fantastic too. Really happy to see 3 versions of the Lion, the crossed axes, plus a few others. I will definitely be outfitting some knights for a tournament!

Really good call, I might add a blue feather in his helmet to match the shield. Thankfully, I got a couple of them when the CMF line was available, so I can work from there.

With all these reviews popping up… can anyone confirm the dimensions of the castle when it is open? I know the box has dimensions listed for when it’s closed. Looking to plan a space and I want to see if it can fit. Thanks.

Counting the studs it's 86 wide if fully folded up, which it can't, so I guess it's around 60-63 cm when it's open.

According to Lyichir a few pages back:

it's roughly 26.5 inches wide and 15.5 inches deep.

I was considering converting the top 'Armory' section into a Throneroom.  Looking at some of these video reviews now, it looks like that might be more difficult since it looks like that section is 'outdoors' when you close up the castle.  It also looks like the main Gate comes up into that floor, behind where I'd put the Throne, so it'd be kind of awkward to have.  I'm starting to wonder if I might have to add an entire new section there instead.

Very happy to hear (and see) this. I was a tad concerned getting those shields would be hard with PAB being in flux, but this is definitely more encouraging.

Did anyone notice that these stairs are actually built with angles, but they match up to form straight stairs? :pir-love:

Oh my gosh. My brain hurts just looking at that, lol.

Man I can't even wrap my head around that one. Guess I'll have to wait and see how it's done when I build it for myself!

It is simply 1x4 slopes at 90⁰. On of the more interesting features when I built it from pictures.

Other than the price, too few animals and weapons it looks like the set only get praise from the reviews that I have read so that is excellent :pir-triumph:

This review state that it is 10 animals in the set:

I was sure that must have been wrong since we have only seen 5, however it turns out it has a couple of bats and 3 frogs hidden as well :shrug_oh_well:

Alright so, anybody know what this line in the instructions is a reference to?

I saw that too and have no clue. Would love to see that little mystery solved.

Would be nice if it means updated Black Knights are coming too.  Kings Castle and Black Monarchs Castle were my two opposing castles as a kid.  Couldn’t afford all the sets I wanted even focusing on just the castle theme.  But they looked awesome together.  Would be nice to replicate that on a grander scale.  Maybe the BF and LK have reached an uneasy peace to oppose the rising power of the BK...  Or maybe it’s just a clever and entertaining way of explaining what that trans orange piece is in the treasure box and nothing more.  Can always hope though.
