10305 Lion Knights' Castle 90th anniversary set

Picked up the castle this morning and I was pleasantly surprised that the Forest Hideout GWP was still in stock, so I got another one of those as well. This was at the store in Tukwila, WA.

Some people collect the modular city sets and build entire towns in their basement or attic. I plan on designating a 4ft table to castle. I don't buy many sets. The wife said I could have 2 4ft tables innthe basement for a display and that is what I'm concepting.

I may not even display this castle set once it is done.  I might just take it apart.  My loose parts for MOCing (one and a half million pieces) and currently built displays for LEGO shows takes up half a room, half of my garage, AND fills a moving truck that I bought just for moving my LEGO from show to show.  

So, I get it that having space to display 4 of these castles would be mind boggling.  I currently don't have any sets on display in my entire house.  Built sets take up a lot more room than the parts alone.  There just isn't enough room for assembled/displayed sets with all of the LEGO I have collected.  Perhaps I need a bigger house?  But a bigger house would severely cut into my LEGO budget!  One has to keep their priorities straight!

This would be incredible! They only had 3 sets originally, and I guess figures came in one or two other castles as bandits. There was the CMF with the wolf, which I thankfully got two of, but it's not nearly enough.

To be honest, what I would really love is a set that can be sort of 3-in-1d with castle wall. So you can easily make it a food stall, a stable, an armor shop, etc. The ability to connect them together and to a bigger castle is key.

I thought we were going to be young parents when my stepson (16) turns 18...wrong she wanted a baby in 2019 and instead got twins in 2020. So now I'm 16 years away from them being adults. That is why she said the basement is mine to use as my office and entertainment room.

Good thing about waiting in line to get in some of them mentioned that they have castle torsos and shields!

I had to get a magistas, pirate and more armor pieces, I managed to grab a bunch of black Falcon shields though 😍

Interestingly enough, with the current exchange rate $400USD is $513CAD, so the Castle is actually $13 cheaper up here.

Every time i look someone up they are like super far from me. Its very boring being the only person i know in Orlando that is a EuroBrick/Castle Fan. I wish i knew City Fans that would love to trade me castle figs for all my random assortment of CMF Bad feel Job/HP/City/Atlantis/Ninjago/ANY OTHER THEME minifigs

The wizard and "white falcons" are so good! I picked up the female pirate/ship crew as well, to add to my Imperial Trading Post ship. I think if I'm in the store, I'll get more white falcons and more ship crew, I always need more civilians to be on the docks.

I hate the boring gray helmet they supplied for the Falcon Knight so I chose other head pieces when I built mine at the BAM.  I  got some extras of the wizard, pirate tricorn, cowgirl & mad scientist hats/hair.  I'll be using the Silver Metallic ones I stocked up on for my knights.  I might even use some Silver Metallic legs on some because the dual molded Gray & Black ones look kind of boring to me.

I'm glad I picked up three of the "white falcons" myself over the weekend. There were none in the bins but the grabbed three from the back for me. I asked about them again today and they said they were all out, so I made do with a cowboy and pirate with a couple of extra shields.

The grey helmets aren't a great match, I agree. Fairly generic. I would have preferred black to match the other falcons, or even white to really accentuate the difference. I do like the grey/black dual molded legs though. Those look great.

Yeah, the grey conical helmets are not a great match with the rest of the fig. I skipped them and set mine up with dark pearl grey kettle helmets to go with the DPG conicals I outfitted my BFs with. Looks better than plain grey or the silver.

Drove over an hour to the nearest LEGO store. I called before I left and they were down to 5, but they would not let me put one on hold. Thankfully they had 2 left when I arrived. Unfortunately no gwp forest set. Whatever stock they had was gone early on August 1st. Looking forward to spending some quality time building it with my son.

I'm also going to hold off getting the castle. I will very likely 'only' get one, and want to wait to see if there is a special GWP in the future at some point. Or wait for a double VIP. Or get one of the cool GWP in the future. The Ray the Castaway one should be coming soon.

Plus, I have the Castle in the Forest to build yet. Hoping to do that soon though.

I wanted those torsos to be honest!!  I was more happy to get another complete pirate but almost no accessories, the knights helmet was one thing that threw me off but i do have enough laying around as it is so I’m not totally worried but I’m kind of sad there was no beard for the wizard, with that said though, what are there legs that go with the white falcons by any chance?  I couldn’t find any but what did you guys end up choosing?

 

I’m happy i got the set, with tedious supply chains I would rather get it now than wait months to get more, this happened with the haunted mansion lego set already being sold out everywhere near me, but as I wait for my kids to lay down for the night so I can quietly start building this set I am looking through the manuals of everything I bought on PAB to see what I can get extra while it’s hot hahaha that’s just me, i know the majority can’t wait to build this set but this release is something magical to be honest.

It’s labeled as “Exclusive” on LEGO.com.

That can often mean exclusive for only three months, and then it moves to either hard to find, and so only available at a small number of retailers e.g Target, or it goes on general release.

No idea whether this will stay exclusive though. The 10497 Galaxy Explorer isn't, so maybe it will become more widely available?

There are some dark grey legs with black dual moulded boots that I've usually seen paired with the torsos on pre-built ones. Those are what I've chosen for mine.

I also picked the dual molded dark grey and black legs. That's what I had seen pictured before and what seemed to pair the best.
