MKJoshA Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 "Morwen, daughter of Baragund, was the wife of Húrin, Lord of Dor-lómin; and their son was Túrin... Those days were evil; for the Easterlings that came into Hithlum despised the remnant of the people of Hador, and they oppressed them, and took their lands and their goods, and enslaved their children... and Morwen feared greatly that Túrin would be taken from her and enslaved. Therefore it came into her heart to send him away in secret, and to beg King Thingol to harbour him, for Beren son of Barahir was her father’s kinsman, and he had been moreover a friend of Húrin, ere evil befell. Therefore in the autumn of the Year of Lamentation Morwen sent Túrin forth over the mountains with two aged servants, bidding them find entry, if they could, into the kingdom of Doriath." -Tolkein, The Silmarillion The first of many MOCs to come telling the story of Turin. House design based off an Alan Lee painting. Quote
zoth33 Posted March 14, 2022 Posted March 14, 2022 This looks great. I like the inclusion of the blue around the windows. The roof looks great. Nice job with the figs too. The landscaping with the trees and vegetation around the house is lovely. I actually find this more interesting than the trailer for the Rings of Power. It's not a knock on you I'm just saying how well you respected Tolkien's work as to how Amazon is destroying it at this point. Quote
Vdog Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 I like the trees and use of colour in this moc Quote
Edgar1976 Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Very nice! I really liked "The children of Húrin", so I will follow your story with great interest. Quote
Feuer Zug Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Great MOC. The house is perfect and the landscape wonderful. Congrats on being front paged. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 Fine creation. Roof is great and I like the colourful trees. Quote

I have so many opinions about Rings of Power, but I'm trying to reserve judgment until after I see a couple episodes. Right now I think it could either be a major achievement in Tolkienesc media or a total disrespect of his legacy. 3 hours ago, Feuer Zug said: Great MOC. I may or may not have used that privileged for my own MOC Quote

I watched season 1 of the WOT and they really need to fix stuff there, I'm chalking it up to covid on some choices and actors leaving. I'm going to watch season 2 and hopefully it improves. I really love fantasy and I think all the shows and media we are getting is great, it's just some of it is executed poorly and or has politics injected into it making it worse. Although from what i've seen House of the Dragon does look and sound really good right now. Quote

It was ok, but it deviated so far from the books I gave up on it. Quote

But they were confused a lot, no one got invested in any of the characters and ended up disappointed by the end of the show. They didn't explain the magic system well at all and Rand's character was butchered along with some others in my opinion. You really didn't miss anything special. The last 2 episodes were bad and really bad especially since most was cgi because of covid shutdowns while they were filming. But hopefully we get some good out of Rings of Power and GOT. I've personally found some of the anime like castlevania, DOTA, legend of vox machina etc to be more entertaining than these shows recently. Quote
Gray Gear Posted March 15, 2022 Posted March 15, 2022 I am still pretty new to LotR, I have only listened to the audiobook of the Hobbit twice and am on my second listen of the LotR audiobook. In Harry potter I know basically every caracter i think, but the world of Tolkien is so much bigger that I still know close to nothing I think. Regarding the MOC I gotta say i really like the snot techniques in the walls, and that mssive bush in the back made from those flexible tentacle pieces Quote
Rauy Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 (edited) Very neat! Turin Turambar is probably my favourite storyline from The Silmarillion. Looking forward to what's to come (I see you also have a second one up already, which is awesome too). Edited March 17, 2022 by Rauy Quote

The vertical stonework in the wall looks awesome and adds a really interesting touch. I may have to try that! The shape of the building is really pleasing as well Quote

Krol Zmija Sebastian Posted March 28, 2022 Posted March 28, 2022 I like the form of the house. Pleasing to the eyes seeing it shaped with the trees behind it like that. Quote
