In lieu of propper military forces in Nouveau Oleandia, a platoon of civilian and military seamen has been pressed into service as infantry. Used to thinly patrol the harbor and serve as crew for Float Battery No.1, they are to be billeted in the barracks ship anchored there.

Doling out the pointy bits

"Finally! If we are attacked we should have just enough men to fire the harbor..." -Lt. 'Gabi'

Provisional Shore Party No.1

Provisional Shore Party No.1 (+Platoon. N.O.) Corporal Suchet of the Compagnies Oleon de la Marine has brevet command.

...

Humans require more supervision than the scarecrows under 'Gabi's command and to this effect, an abortive lighthouse construction has also been pressed onto service. Meant to function as the command post and armory for the fledgling defences of Nouveau Oleandia, this structure is connected to the mainland by a bridge and has an unimpeded view of both the barracks ship and the floating battery. From this tidal island the defenders transfer to and from their aforementioned positions, recieve orders, and groom their magnificent hairs...

From here, the crews at the barracks ship and floating battery are synchronized with the harbor patrols.

Varnum Point. Headquarters of Provisional Command No.1, Nouveau Oleandia.

To be licensed as a troop build and small residence. Hence the moc size.

This is a strong headquarters and troops. The squad looks determined and ready for battle! I really like the tower with the shed. They even have their own flag. The landscape with the temporary boat dock and jetty looks good.

A funny scene with the person combing their hair. I could see it in more detail on your Flickr page. :pir_laugh2:

Thanks! It tis the flag of Nouveau Oleandia! Yeah. Still figuring out how to get good photo compression on larger mocs. It took 4hrs just to get that aweful one. It's really annoying to me because I coulda been done with cropping and compression in 5mins on XP 25 yrs ago. Must be some more of that 'progress' I keep hearing tech nits prattle on about.

@evancelt Thank you! Once I saw how you were doing the bases, I realized I actually had a decent number of 1×1 and 1×2 plates and that it was just a matter of reorganizing their storage. It's wrapping paper :pir_mad:, cats did for my backdrop. I was trying to dodge figuring out another program but yeah, I'd just better go look into Photoshop. I have plenty of hobbies that could benefit from it too.

@Justsomebrix Ha thanks. Going for a 'Pirates with Purpose' vibe. A re-commencement of hostilities would be sad but it would also vindicate Marshal Duquesne.

@Brickwolf Thank you!

Quite a bunch! I love the semi-brickbuilt flag. That's awesome.

Great job with the ground complexity, too!

The white and dark red works well for the building

Interesting grid pattern in the background :pir-grin:

In Photoshop I go to "Save for Web" and then it lets me choose various compression ratios and preview the output. This helps get the filesize reasonable while keeping quality higher.

Fierce looking militia! Glad we're allies... at the moment at least :pir-grin:

Great minifigs and build. I like the scene with the fig brushing the hair in front of the mirror.
