April 10, 20222 yr Looks very true to the original! I mean, the real car looks like it was designed with making a LEGO build in mind, no curves or other problems. But still, very well done. Only thing I dislike is that there is a transparent piece in the rear window, but nowhere else. That looks weird.
April 10, 20222 yr Very nice! You’ve captured it well! I have to agree with @Gray Gear that the rear window looks a bit out of place, a front window would look more consistent.
April 10, 20222 yr Not a best moment to publish such a beauty (because of all those contest entries). But maybe it will find a way to frontpage.
April 10, 20222 yr Looks great but that engine and enginebay needs work. Edited April 10, 20222 yr by Mechbuilds
April 10, 20222 yr Already commented on Rebrickable: This model looks so hot! Gorgeous shape and there are so many nice details.

Oh, there are some curves on the sides of the car, that's why they are built with SNOT technique :) But in general you are right, the older cars are easier to replicate with lego :) On 4/10/2022 at 9:47 AM, Gray Gear said: Only thing I dislike is that there is a transparent piece in the rear window, but nowhere else. That looks weird. Yes, you are right, there is some inconsistency. But LEGO doesn't use side windows (most of the time) either, so only the front one is missing. I couldn't fit anything in there - the windshield from the ECTO didn't fit, even though it was the closest. 23 hours ago, Mechbuilds said: Looks great but that engine and enginebay needs work. Yes, you're right - I already had limited space there, the long black plates support the sides of the car which had to be reinforced somewhere, increasing the lack of space. I know, the V8 should be a bit more in the back, however there I have a steering layout and I couldn't fit it. The alternative is a creator expert style engine, however I preferred it to move :) 22 hours ago, Milan said: And it just did find a way :) Frontpaged. Wow, I didn't expect that at all! Thanks a lot! =================== Thank you all for your kind words!
April 11, 20222 yr Great what you did - I say this as a big fan of the 60's and 70's cars! Thank you for sharing.
April 11, 20222 yr This is so accurate! I love the real car and your model of it! You've built the right car for me ;-) !
April 12, 20222 yr I used to drive a 1964 Chevy Malibu, a very similar in appearance model, with the Impala SS of course having the more powerful engine (ours was a straight 6 - or, was it a 4 cylinder???). Those '64's were nearly indestructible, I sold mine in 1983, and saw it running around town for at least 5 years after. Aside from the fact that mine was blue, this LEGO model is nearly dead-on accurate (except for the shag-rug covering the rear deck that everyone added to cover the peeling surface). The only significant detail that is missing are the triangular opening "air-conditioner" window insets in the L/R door windows. Great job! Edited April 12, 20222 yr by JGW3000
April 13, 20222 yr If you've played Carmageddon before - Otis Jivefunk drives this: It's a caddy, but not that far off from your car. Add some spikes and fins and it's a Carmageddon car :D Now - seriously, I'm stunned by your build. Great work.
