Wenzo Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Hey everyone, I challenged myself to model a lego set while trying to keep every aspect most sets have in mind. I came up with this train design with big wheels and 'wooden' elements to make it look a bit Western. Check out my post on Lego Ideas as well and try giving me feedback, its much appreciated. [link removed] Furthermore I hope you like it :). Quote
JopieK Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Thank you for joining Eurobricks and Train Tech. Very nice model with a lot of nice details. Are those large wheels original LEGO or? Apart from that: read our rules and don't join Eurobricks to use it just as an Ideas billboard. Quote
Johnny1360 Posted May 6, 2022 Posted May 6, 2022 Those are some mighty big wheels, looks really cool, kind of unique too, not sure I have seen a drive setup like that before, nice work. Quote
Wenzo Posted May 6, 2022 Author Posted May 6, 2022 (edited) @JopieK Sorry my bad. Thought there was some space for MOC's but I didn't understand and read that eventually a Mod would help. Let me read the thing again ;). I made a custom design for the wheels so sadly I cant buy them myself either. I would have loved to test it. I take it Lego would need to go through the full design process before something like this happens. Edit: I read it and I'd like to let you know It's not meant for Ideas specifically. I hoped to get some more discussion about the project here! Edited May 6, 2022 by Wenzo Reply after re-reading the rules ;) Quote
JopieK Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Well it is of course fine to share your Ideas project, but it was your first post, so I think you can improve on it to show more angles / details / etc and adding a link then would be ok I think. Those wheels are a neat idea b.t.w. maybe print them as a prototype, go to a maker space / FabLab or let shapeways do it for you in case you don't own your own printer?! Quote
Wenzo Posted May 7, 2022 Author Posted May 7, 2022 I might yes and 'll add some angles, I first want to finish the tender or how you call it, then I think im going to let them be printed, great idea I didn't think of that 😅. Quote
Vilhelm22 Posted May 14, 2022 Posted May 14, 2022 Very nice @Wenzo! How a western train ought to be in my mind... @JopieK would it be advisable to move this thread to the Train Tech (I know it's you who can do that)? The feedback there will probably be far more as it's a bunch of train obsessives like myself! Quote
Toastie Posted May 15, 2022 Posted May 15, 2022 Wow, this locomotive IS different from all I have seen before!!! This is a really nice "build"!!! I love it. Is there meant to be a touch of steam punk - not to the extent of clearly showing, but to the extent of clearly be there? Location of cylinders: Cool. Wheelset: Super cool. Overall appearance: Crazy cool. This is a true MOC with so many things flowing in. It is meant to be a display model, right? Absolutely nothing wrong with that - I am mostly reluctant to put things without a/many function/s on a shelf - but I absolutely would place this beauty there - because it resembles LEGO to the very best. Congratulations!!! All the best, Thorsten Quote
