neithan Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I was waiting for double VIP points to buy some of the new MK Sets, but this GWP is at least equally good to grab. Can`t wait! Quote

But since I'm pretty sure the minifig parts and the Shields will be available at bricks and pieces since they are not licensed it's ok for to gamble. But maybe I'll buy some stuff when I feel like it at the 15th even i don't really need it ;-) Whilst we all hope this is true, I wouldn't really on Bricks & Pieces of it's a limited run GWP. However, if the posts are also in the castle, then it should be fine. Should B&P ever come back... Quote

Huge missed opportunity if there will be just 1 hat. GWPs generally include the same sorts of spare parts as other sets... but I don't think the Forestman hat is among those. Just smaller/lighter parts like 1x1 round plates and the like. Quote
Triceron Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 The Botanical Succulent uses the forestmen hat piece, so it might be possible to get through B&P. Quote
R0Sch Posted May 31, 2022 Author Posted May 31, 2022 (edited) Found these instructions from @tile.n.dye: https://www.instagram.com/p/CeOVFWVoFME/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link They show an almost identical build to the official version of the set, but the part count is off. Edit2: I think it's pretty accurate, but replace 28x 85080 with 4x 78594 (Panel 2x2x5 Corner Wall) and 8x 87620 Facet Bricks 2x2. Edited May 31, 2022 by R0Sch Sorry, not official instructions Quote
TeriXeri Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 (edited) When I got back into LEGO, the 2017 3-in-1 Treehouse Adventures was one of my first modern sets. Seeing how this old forestmen set basicly a hinged tree house reminded me of the 3-in-1 set. I never got a forestmen set but loved them in catalogs. Edited May 31, 2022 by TeriXeri Quote
R0Sch Posted May 31, 2022 Author Posted May 31, 2022 Here's the Studio file, with the above mentioned modifications, but there are still 10 parts too many.Forest_hideout_gwp.io Quote

I never had a formal Forestmen set either, though I have plenty of the minifigs from minifig packs and a couple carts from their 3-in-1 bonus packs. I had a couple Dark Forest sets, which were nice, but nothing classic from the actual Forestmen era. I'm quite excited to get my hands on one of these. Or two. Or three... Quote
SirBlake Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I’m fortunate enough to have all of the classic forestmen sets from when I was a kid. The Camouflaged Outpost came out first, and in many ways it’s my favorite. It’s just so wonderfully accessible, opening 3 ways. The Crossing is super cool and the River Fortress is a great concept and fantastic build. The parts list is pretty basic. If you have the spare pieces, I highly recommend building it. Quote
RichardGoring Posted June 1, 2022 Posted June 1, 2022 I was fully expecting that by now everything on my wish list would be out of stock. But there's still a reasonable proportion of it available, so here's hoping it lasts for another two weeks ready for the GWP release. Definitely feels like it's going to have to be a stay up until midnight situation to make sure there are enough sets on my wish list available. Quote

If you replace those parts with their pre-assembled equivalents (using unprinted torso assemblies as placeholders since the default stud.io library doesn't list the forestmen torsos in their assembled form), you should get exactly the right piece count! That said, I'm also pretty sure that in the official set uses quarter-cylinder panels and round bricks (30987 and 85080) for the tree trunk rather than quarter-octagon panels and facet bricks (78594 and 87620). After all, roundness of the tree is one of the biggest changes this set makes compared to the original! Quote

Also you're right about the quarter-cylinders and round bricks since they appeared in more sets over the past couple of years. The quarter-octagonal panel was only in a Frozen set so far. I changed the file accordingly, link is the same. Quote
Seaber Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Clearer pic on insta now, shows the female figure does have the French braid hair, not a bandana piece. Quote
eldiano Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Damn you lego, a WEEK 😭😭 I don’t know what to do know, I’ll be in Disney that week and My money is tied to lightsabers 😭😭 I’ll probably bite the bullet and buy it for $50 😭 Quote
danth Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 9 hours ago, Seaber said: Clearer pic on insta now, shows the female figure does have the French braid hair, not a bandana piece. Yep. Really wish they had gone for the second forestman hat in a different color, like the original set. I guess they thought it might be weird for a girl to wear that hat and not have any hair in the back, or something? A red hat sitting inside the hideout would work but I doubt that'll be the case. I can give her a blue forestman hat though! Quote
Black Feather Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 I wish they had given us a second forestman torso in 10305. And a brown hat. They could have simply made a green version of that new peasant torso shown in the video. They would never do those things in a GWP. But in a $350/$450 set with 20 minifigures capitalizing on the nostalgia many have for castle sets of that era, that would be a small change that would generate a lot of enthusiasm among the target audience. And then it would be a simple matter of putting the brown hat and red feather on the red forestman. And the green hat and white feather on the other forestman. And now your GWP matches the original set without even having to make a new color feather. Not saying a remake needs to match the original. I would have happy to have two different forestmen of any kind. They could make the blue and/or black easily from that red torso (which is very nice now that I can see it more clearly). But in this case it actually would be easier to match the original as the white feather is already in production and by chance the set they are remaking is the only one I can remember where there was a white feather. The main issue for me is that in the original run I can not think of a single set which included more than one forestman where they were all the same. One of the main appeals of the faction was all the variation. Four torsos. Two color hats. Five different color feathers. Would like to hope that at some point we get a modern version of all the forestmen. But the fact we have the castle and this GWP with only one makes it seem unlikely to happen soon if ever. Quote
Aanchir Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 Personally, I don't mind the forestwoman in that set not having a hat, and the braided hair piece they opted for is not a bad look for a lady outlaw. It's also good that they opted for a hair piece that lets her turn her head at least 30 degrees in either direction — a lot of female hair pieces tend to wrap tight around a minifig's torso and/or shoulders and restrict their head movement, which would be awkward for action/fight scenes. That said, I do kind of wish she'd had a somewhat less boring/generic hair piece, since this is one we've seen again and again for over a decade, and even in this very same color in most cases! A less common hairstyle like part 24080 from the Disney and Friends themes, or even the same hairstyle in a less common color like Sand Yellow or Medium Nougat, would have been much more interesting/exciting to me. And make no mistake, I totally understand and respect why a lot of y'all would specifically prefer a second forestman hat or a green bandana since that's more useful than a generic hair piece for filling out the ranks of a forest people faction. Hopefully there will be more opportunities for LEGO to make up for that in the near future. Quote

Are you going to World or Land? Thought I was going to miss AFOL day too until they changed it to July. I don't know what I could buy that would be enough to hit the GWP threshold but I don't want to have to pack it to fly home. I might have to place an online order. Edited June 5, 2022 by karrit Quote
