Excalibur Mafia 4

Day One: Disaster

84186px.jpg'

"Captain's Log. The Excalibur is its way to a scheduled meeting at the colony on New Berlin for medical resupply. We should arrive there in a few days."

lGysxQl.jpg

"Captain." Commander Te'voka starts. "I have completed our count of the medical supplies. They have been sorted appropriately."

"Excellent."

Behind him, though, a young ensign started muttering to himself.

"Do you hear something?" the Captain asked.

The Ensign stood and raised a phaser.

"By their command!" he shouts.

Before anyone could react, the Captain was shot.

"Security! Code One Emergency on the bridge!" Te'voka yelled before taking cover.

epFiNSI.jpg

Lt. Commander Pherson and the security officer already on the bridge return fire, hitting the ensign.

"I die, but there are more to carry out their command..."

Those are his last words.

ZhsEms6.jpg

"Well." Dr Macdougal started. "He's dead but I'm sure you already figured that."

"What about the ensign that shot him?" Hiveon asked.

"He's dead too. He seems to be infected with something, I can't tell what. I'll need to do more research."

"You heard him, though." Dustin said. "There's more of them on the ship. What should we do, Commander?"

...

"Hmm...I seem to remember something from history class at the academy. When the original Excalibur had issues with the League of Purists over one hundred and fifty years ago, they played an old Earth game called "mafia", perhaps that could work for us too?"

"But there's over seven hundred people on this ship. We can't play mafia with all of them, we could barely get eight!"

"Well, we'll start with us eight first and then see what happens from there."

Rules:
1) You are either Town or Corrupted. The town need to eliminate the mafia and the mafia need to outnumber the town. In the hopefully unlikely event of a parity, the mafia will win. There are no third parties.
2) A game day will last 72 hours. You may vote after 24 hours. Even if a majority vote is achieved, the day will not end early. Nights will last at most 48 hours, during which you can send in your night actions.
3a) Do not talk about the game outside of the threads.
3) Each day you can vote to lynch a player. Voting is mandatory. It should be done in this fashion:
                     Vote: Character (Player)
                     Unvote: Character (Player)

Ensure your vote is in bold so I don't miss it please!
4) The alignment of players who have been lynched, as well as those who may have died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day.
5) You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to you by the game host via PM. This includes the details of your character and role, as well as any night actions results. Role claims and reporting of results are acceptable, but in your own words only.
6) If you die, you may not post in thread or discuss the game with any players. Any information you had is not allowed to be passed on under any circumstances.
7) Don't edit your posts, please!
8) Please try to post every day!

Why do they always have to kill the coolest people at the beginning? Like he's the captain. I get you want to off him, but why not a janitor or something?

Not the Captain, this is terrible! How many more enemies do you think we are dealing with, 2 out of us 8?

If previous simulations hold true, two out of eight is a reasonable proportion. I wish I'd taken that traitor alive though, we could've interrogated him to find out who his buddies were!

"Oh dear! Well, that's rather ominous! I'd have to agree with 2 out of 8 seeming a reasonable number. Now we must begin the difficult work on trying to discover who exactly they are. I feel a common and fruitful conversation for the very first day is always: do we attempt to remove someone right away, or do we wait to gather more information? What is everyone's thoughts on this? It is important to decide, as we must vote."

As the Medical Office this is a disaster! I'll have to take some samples and analyse them I my lab to get some results.

Well they took that worthless ensign too, sorta? They must have known he'd never survive an attempt on the Captain's life.  Besides, all our janitors are suppose to be robots or did you not attend that very important meeting? :pir-sceptic:

I hope whatever he's sick with isn't catchy, if they take more of us they will inevitably take over the ship without even shedding our blood. If we can contain this to the bridge crew then the rest of ship can be saved.

"Here." Te'voka says. "Is where we were a few days ago. This anomaly appears to be the source of the corruption. We are unable to detect who exactly has been afflicted with this."

---

You may now vote! With 8 players, a majority of 5 is required to lynch. There are 48 hours remaining in this day.

As Lt. Commander Cheseelo asks, is it worth us trying to co-ordinate a vote today to get a 1 in 4 chance of a Corrupted? If the 2 out of 8 is accurate, that is.

There isn't much to go on today, not much talk, it would be a real shot in the dark. I would be OK with us not finding a consensus.

Infection! Dear me! With what? Must be a dastardly disease to put all of our species at risk.

Let us know as soon as possible!

There's so little to go on at the moment... I would be all right with not phasing anyone today.

We always have the debate of phasing or not phasing someone Day 1, and it always feels we pick wrong no matter what.

That's because there is no right answer Lieutenant. We have to act now based on no evidence whatsoever, and statistically we'd be more likely to vote for a loyal crewmember than an infected.

Science officer reporting in! The main dish calibration was being a real bear, but I came as soon as I heard the news.

As far as odds go, you’re right. Are you saying we don’t vote off anyone today, then? The issue becomes, of course, that then we enter Day 2 with very little public information, and likely down a loyal member of the crew. I’m not necessarily saying we have to vote someone off, in fact this late in the day it seems ill-advised, but I want to be clear on what everyone thinks.

If we aren’t voting someone off, we also must make sure we vote for someone! Just spread out the votes. I will go ahead and Vote: Lt. Commander Dustin Pherson (Duvors). I would ask no one else does. Sorry Lt. Dustin, it’s truly just to not incur a penalty.

The rules do state that voting is mandatory. As I have already stated, I am OK with not reaching a consensus today, so in order to not incur a penalty I will

Vote: Lt. Commander Hiveon Cheseelo (Zepher)

to spread the vote.  The next person to vote, feel free to vote for me next.

Very well then.

Vote: Lieutenant James Riley (Rumble Strike)

Hmm if we're going to do this then

Vote: Lt. Commander Dr. Hailey Macdougal (Tariq j)

Feelslike the best solution really. Vote: Lt Gabriel Fenton (Kotz).

Vote Count:
Dustin (Duvors) - 1 (Zepher)
Hiveon (Zepher) - 1 (Rumble Strike)
James (Rumble Strike) - 1 (Duvors)
Hailey (Tariq j) - 1 (KotZ)
Gabriel (KotZ) - 1 (Tariq j)

It takes 5 votes to lynch. It seems no one has been lynched today!

Please get your night actions in!
