Hod Carrier Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Was having a little thumb through the site earlier when a thought occurred to me. Given the level of building we see here, would not at least some of the MOCs be suitable for the LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling - Advanced LEGO Construction area? And if not, why not? Is there anything to preclude duplicate threads for the same topic in different areas? Quote
supertruper1988 Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 The scale modeling folks had their own forum then decided the minimum scale was in the 1:20 range (aka large technic type builders or model team style) or very small greater than (less than maybe?) 1:100. So like the spaceships and other models in the Saturn V size or the Queen Mary that one dude made at 1:200 was fine but anything "minifig scale" like 1:30 to 1:60 was definitely excluded. All that to say is, it was tried and we we excluded @JopieK and @Milan would also have some decent input. Quote

Hi, You can read a bit of history of the Scale Modelling Forum, and how it evolved, here. In short, the requirements for a model to be posted as Scale Model are: It has to represent a real world counterpart, scaled as closely as possible. Vehicles must be built in minimum scale of around 1:20. Ships, planes does not have minimum scale requirement. It has to be built as advanced Model Team, mainly with bricks, plates and tiles, with high level of details and prime execution. They cannot be purely Technic. Non vehicle MOCs (like scale models of buildings, utensils, figures, animals, etc...) do not belong in this forum. [SMF] prefix can be used in your Scale Model's topic name, for it to be distinguished from the Technic models, but it is not mandatory. 13 hours ago, Hod Carrier said: Is there anything to preclude duplicate threads for the same topic in different areas? You can have only one topic for one moc. No duplicate topics across different themes/areas, please. Quote
JopieK Posted June 4, 2022 Posted June 4, 2022 It is of course always difficult to definitely say where some topics would fit best. Train is technically a city sub theme of course. But what about pneumatic locomotives. Or the rumored Hogwarts express (which might fit is Licensed, but also in Train tech and maybe even scale modeling if the rumors turn out to be true). Quote
