Hinckley Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Nope. I was wearing nothing. Honestly, I was playing a just a streaker. I also played someone who came on wearing a specially knitted form fitting sock that was not meant to wear on my feet. It was one of those university/college things. Three weeks of it; we even toured! It is the only show I did that my Mum refused to go to; no idea why, it's not like she hadn't seen it before! I was naked in a show a couple of years ago. I invited some friends and forgot to warn them. After the show they said "Nice show. We saw your junk." :-$ All my other friends had fair warning...Actually the show was horrible. It was the worst reviewed show I've ever done. One night during curtain call, the audience didn't clap. :'-( I didn't invite my family to that one :-D :-D :-D I have to find some of those other pics from my other shows. (don't worry Norrington, not the naked one) :-P Quote
Norrington Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 (edited) Don't knock it until you try it. Honest.Eh, I have much better and less degrading things than to go around indecent in public. |-/ Indeed you should. If you aren't prepared to be seen naked you have zero chance of becoming a successful actor. Yeah, well, movies and actng is really just @^#% lying to an audience, isn't it?.[qoute name=Hinckley39' post= '172786' date= 'Jul 9 2007, 08:59 PM] I was naked in a show a couple of years ago. Siegfried Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 I was naked in a show a couple of years ago. It is very hard to avoid. Even in movies actors often need to be naked for various reasons. It really isn't that big a deal. People go to the beach 95% naked, and you can guess the last 5% anyway... One night during curtain call, the audience didn't clap. :'-( Darn. I have never had that, but I did have worse. One show I did we had one person turn up, and he left half way though! (Oddly all the other shows were packed; it was the first performance so it could have just been that the advertising was not out yet.) I have to find some of those other pics from my other shows. (don't worry Norrington, not the naked one) :-P I will try to do the same, but mine are fifteen years ago! Quote

Yeah, well, movies and actng is really just @^#% lying to an audience, isn't it?. You are entitled to your opinion, but I can't say that I agree at all. The definition of lying is generally seen as being decietful or un-true. Since everyone knows that actors are acting there is no decieit. Quote

It's no more lying than say, you having a minifig as your avatar. By that token, you're lying to us since you're not a minifig! Edited July 10, 2007 by Starwars4J Quote

I, however, frown upon public nudity, beleiving it is only for you, a dcotor, and/or your sexual partner. Norrington, you're a good guy. I like you a lot. I just want to point a couple of things out to you out of respect and let you know that you've offended me a little. I posted that I work as an actor, I went to school for it, it's my life dream, I work hard at it and I believe in it. You're telling me that I'm basically just a liar. You are more than entitled to that opinion, but as the guy who wants to get to know everyone better in a religion and beliefs forum, I believe you should be more open to other people's lifestyles. Sinner, SW4J and I are talking about being naked in public. You've stated a few times that you don't like this. We understand that now, you don't need to keep repeating yourself. We are trying to have a conversation. If you disagree with what we're talking about, why do you insist on being part of the conversation? In my opinion your tone can be a little judgmental and patronizing. I know this is a very personal thing to say to you. I didn't want to PM you with it because I know you are younger and that would have made me feel like I was bullying you. I have the utmost respect for you and your beliefs. I am only asking that you leave as much room for mine that I do for yours. Throughout your life, you're going to meet actors and have friends who get naked in public. In my experience, being judgmental about relatively small things can make things difficult socially. So please, try to be a little more tolerant of things you don't necessarily agree with. Thank you. :-) Quote
Norrington Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 And I would appreciate you keeping your bigoted views to yourself ;-) No wonder you wanted to start a religion forum, you're already trying to push your beliefs on us :-D It wasn't a religon forum! *sing* I wasn't trying to push it on you! *sing* I was just sharing so we know eachother better! *sing* My veiw on that is about privacy, which is very important to me! *sing* AHAHAH! *sing* Right. Now I have that out of my head. And no, acting is not like lying to an audience, since they're fully aware that they're seeing a performance. It's no more lying than say, you having a minifig as your avatar. By that token, you're lying to us since you're not a minifig! Wouldn't all/most of us be liars, too, as the powers would have it?Hinckley: Don't worry 'bout it. I'm speaking in gerneralzations. Not every actor is like the kind I'm talking about. PMing me would have worked. I don't see you as the kind to bully. Quote
Starwars4J Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 (edited) Wouldn't all/most of us be liars, too, as the powers would have it? So maybe you need to redefine what a liar is, and what constitutes a lie ;-) Is it a lie if a person is going in there will full knowledge, even expectations of someone representing themselves differently? You seem to make a lot of...well, generalizations, and the fact is we got it the first time. Just remember if something makes you uncomfortable, nobody is forcing you to read a particular thread, instead of trying to get everyone to only talk about what you find acceptable, maybe you need to give room for other people to have different tastes. The only reason I'm saying anything is because you seemed rather...pushy in your posts. Edited July 10, 2007 by Starwars4J Quote
Siegfried Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Well, in certain veiws. I, however, frown upon public nudity, beleiving it is only for you, a dcotor, and/or your sexual partner. So when you were a baby everyone just shut their eyes? There is no logical reason that being naked is indecent, the only reasons that I can think of are that many religious books demand it. ...Time passes... I was going to go on about how in-consistant and illogical the Bible is (for example if Adam and Eve started it all, then their kids must of boffed each other; ickie!), but I thought better of it as there is no point and it will simply cause trouble. Feel free to believe that being naked is indecent. But please refrain from calling people liars. I, and many others, find that extreamly offensive. (Not to mention confusing; I thought you liked Disneyland and Star Wars. Are you aware that they aren't real?) Quote

Jesus told parables after all and what are those but made up stories? Was Jesus a liar? Having gone to school for theater, in Theater History I learned that theater was banned in the Middle Ages because they believed it was anti-religious because the actors were in fact, lying. Norrington Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 (Not to mention confusing; I thought you liked Disneyland and Star Wars. Are you aware that they aren't real?)1) Mpst of my veiws have nothing to do with the bible. I have no religous affiliaton, due to the fact that every faith has ALOT of things I disagree strongly with. I just live by my own code of conduct.2) Of course I'm aware they aren't real. I find in them entertainment. Well, generalizations are not a positive thing. Sir Dillon Posted July 10, 2007 Posted July 10, 2007 Haha... I personally wouldn't go naked in public unless I was getting paid a lot... I admire those who have the guts to it, and yet at the same time am a bit disgusted. :-P You guys must have gotten a nice rush of adrenaline, eh? Quote

Actually the show I was naked in was non-union, meaning I wasn't paid much. :-D :-D :-D And that show was such a bomb I don't think they were ever able to pay me in full...^#&@!ing non-union. But, you have to get naked in public, at least once. I, personally, love it. I'd do it for free. We live out in the dunes and we have a couple of big parties every year and there's always a midnight skinny dip in Lake Michigan. That's the freaking best. Sir Dillon, I dare you to get naked and go run around your yard once! You'll be a new person!! Public nudity on! Quote
