bradleybrand Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 I understand the LEGO® Modular Buildings Collection is impressive and gorgeous, but it seems that every LEGO town/city is filled with these. I search on YouTube for "100% custom LEGO town" without any luck. Growing up throughout the early 2000s, my LEGO collection consisted of 90s and 2000s. As a kid, with not so much LEGOs, my creations were simple but nice. The same goes for LEGO sets, in 2005 we saw set 7240 of the Fire Station. LEGO towns/cities don't have to look as impressive as the LEGO® Modular Buildings Collection to gain my interest, even more simple MOCs catch my eye. Does anyone have any mostly custom towns/cities? Or know of any? Quote
mapimi Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 (edited) Hi I recently discovered this youtube channel that seems to fit the description of what you are looking for. Its quite impressive : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTGHqw41qk_WyK3wJK7nweg If not AFOL TV is pretty good as well but with a more North American vibe. Edited July 1, 2022 by mapimi Quote
Peppermint_M Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 I would love to create a 100% custom town layout. Sadly I do not have the space to set one up (I probably have the LEGO these days... ) One motto I like to live by though: Create what you want to see! Even a modest creation is beautiful. Quote

Yeah, I know of the issue. I miss the LEGO years. 6 hours ago, dimka_ya said: if there is no space, you can build micro-cities :) Yeah, that's true. I have never been so keen of micro-cities though, much preferring minifig scale. Quote

Vilhelm22 Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 He’s German and I can’t understand anything he’s saying because I don’t speak it but I watch it for the pictures - STEINeZEIT on YouTube. https://youtube.com/c/STEINeZEIT Bevins Bricks has already been mentioned which is another fantastic one. I don’t know if you consider this to be custom or not, but some people ‘blow up’ the modulars - buying several and combining them to create a much larger, more impressive buildings. Bricks4Chris and Hoosier Bricks were experts at this but both seem to have deleted their channels - this Beyond The Brick video is the only evidence I can currently find: The first part is less impressive but the giant GE, PC, CG, BB, and AS in the latter part of the video are pretty impressive imho. JakeS Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 (edited) It's not 100% custom, but I have been building some alternative builds lately. I placed them together in a part of my city: On a Facebook group called 'Amazing Lego Modular Buildings' someone called Nadya shared pictures of her city. I can't share a link here, but you might find her there. Her city is filled with small Lego buildings she designed herself. I think that might be what you are looking for. Personally, I think it's one of the coolest Lego cities around! Edited July 8, 2022 by JakeS Quote
TeriXeri Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 (edited) Very long term I want to change my 3-in-1/City scale buildings into 100% custom but it's an ever ongoing process. 100% custom also doesn't need to be full of Creator Expert modular buildings to be interesting, small custom buildings can be very interesting as well, of course there are many factors involved. Nothing wrong with big or small scales, especially the 100% custom stuff you can choose a certain scale instead of adding onto a series of sets. Edited July 17, 2022 by TeriXeri Quote
bradleybrand Posted August 2, 2022 Author Posted August 2, 2022 I don't reguarly check these forums, but thank you guys for all your great replies. Quote
mikaelsol Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 I try to keep my city as custom as possible. If I don't make my own designs, I modify existing sets. Here's a tour of my previous layout: I'm currently working on a new layout that will have some landscaping as well (a mountain, a river, a farm etc): Quote
Romanos Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/123714-moc-certissa-town-ny-city-block-3-page/&page=3 At the moment I don't have anything well recorded for Youtube, but on the link you have a lot of my city as I changed it over the years. All the buildings are 100% my creation. So far I have done buildings as inspiration comes to me, from this year every side of the street is from a different city in the world. So far I've done New York, Havana and now I'm doing Amsterdam and the canals. Quote
