Posted July 12, 20222 yr Hello everyone! The long overdue project that I started here is finally up and running! The car is my own concept called "Apricus V8" that I started with a sketch back in 2021. It has design elements inspired by cars such as the Mercedes McLaren SLR, Dodge Viper and Aston Martin mixed with my own touch. The model has been a true challenge to build because of all the complex features I recreated. I also wanted a bold color for this one to complement the looks, as I knew the bodywork will be very aggressive in the end. The features of the car include:-HoG steering with working steering wheel-double wishbone suspension all around with front caster angle-adjustable suspension height-opening doors, hood, trunk-4 speed sequential gearbox with paddles in the interior (the gearbox is mounted vertically behind the seats)-working mini V8 engine-manually adjustable rear wing I am most proud of the styling, I truly think it is the perfect mixture between flowing lines and aggressive vents and spoilers. That being said, here it is without the huge rear wing: Building instructions available here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-116873/Alex Ilea/apricus-v8/#details You can view more pictures of the car: https://bricksafe.com/pages/ILEAALEX/apricus-final And some work in progress over here:https://bricksafe.com/pages/ILEAALEX/apricus-v8 Thank you for the read and I hope you will enjoy this car as much as I do! Video coming soon! Edited July 12, 20222 yr by IA creations
July 12, 20222 yr Wow, this is a stunning cool supercar you have pulled out here, to say the least ! Every bit of it is so well constructed and worked out, the design is all your own for which you earn extra respect on top. You have used the perfect mix of common available orange pieces put at the right angle at the right place, leaving minimal gaps. The chassis alone looks frightening already and could roll as a hotrod on its own . One thing I try to grasp is where does the high parts count come from? (probably the long wheelbase explains it). Can´t wait for the video! Feel free to PM me anytime to discuss a few more things.
July 12, 20222 yr What a great looking build. You've got a really good eye for design. I too look forward to seeing the video.
July 13, 20222 yr This indeed is a gorgeous build! Heck, I love it just at the chassis level. Looks so clean. I remember seeing this at the WIP stage/thread. Just curious, you linked this post to the WIP which has updated pics in DEC of 2021. I thought the build was completed at that time. Is this final stage any different than the final stage posted on the WIP thread?

I really enjoy the design part of the cars, but I still can get a lot bettet. I need to build more futuristic cars. On 7/13/2022 at 12:57 AM, nerdsforprez said: This indeed is a gorgeous build! First of all thank you for the comments and the interest in the wip topic. The differences are a new rear bumper and the wing. The main reason for delay was my laziness to be onest. **Making even more excuses: I also built the BMW M8 competition in the gap and I am more than half way done with a 1:8 car.
July 13, 20222 yr Looks good! I like your freestyle models you’ve done lately. This one reminds me of the modern Toyota Supra’s. Congrats for fitting so much functions in a 1:10 car, even if the steering/HOG gearing is the most complicated I have ever seen You have a great building style for the bodywork, not cluttered but not too gappy either.

It does kinda look like a modern Supra, though it was not an inspiration for the model. I was obsessed about getting a HoG in, all manual cars must have it imo, tho the steering works better by using the steeringwheel. I find it hard to find a balance between conectors and panels. I was limited on the orange parts for this one, maybe that is why it turned this way :)
July 15, 20222 yr I'm not usually a fan of the look of front-engine supercars, but this one looks really good! The only thing I'm not quite sure of are the dark bluish grey side vents, I can't help but think that black would work a bit better. The chassis looks (and functions) phenomenally! One of the functions that always manages to woo me the most is adjustable ride height, and I think your mechanism is pretty much perfect at this scale! The roof, even though it is quite flat, fits the look of the car perfectly, this really does give the feeling of a high-performing multi-million dollar streetcar. Awesome work!

The dbg side vents are just to offer some contrast as there is allready to much black with the spoilers and roof. The height adjustment is such a cool function, but it complicated the car a lot, therefore increasing the part count quite a bit. Thank you for the feedback and compliments!
