evancelt Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 A dock at Fort Stockton allows the garrison to quickly receive supplies for the fort. ----------------- OOC: To be licensed by Corrington as a large commerce in Wullham @Ayrlego This build got started around the idea that those light / dark bley projectile shooters looked like wet and dry rock in a single brick. Once the middle rocks were built I then added the basalt columns. Quote
Marooned Marin Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Ohhh what a great use of envelopes for windows. Fantastic build Quote
Ross Fisher Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Those basalt columns! Oh my god I love them. Really wanna make an entire landscape of them at some point. Quote
Ayrlego Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 A lot to like here and some interesting parts use (as normal for an Evancelt build!). The use of the projectile shooters as the waterline on the cliffs might just be the best unconventional part use in a landscape that I have seen in a long while. I also second Ross' comment about the basalt columns - those are beautiful. Licensed for the faction with thanks! Quote

Here are some process shots showing how the envelopes are used in the window. I picked up a few dozen of those tiles on the PAB wall recently Spoiler 4 hours ago, Ross Fisher said: Those basalt columns! Oh my god I love them. They end up taking a lot of cheese slopes! 2 hours ago, Ayrlego said: A lot to like here and some interesting parts use (as normal for an Evancelt build!). Here is a process shot of the waterline across the whole build before I added the base and dock. The core of the landmass is made out of Duplo, of course Spoiler Quote

Capt Wolf Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 ooh, I like this a lot! Not identical to many of the Corrish builds we see, but definitely fits with them. It shows the differences among locations across the Empire. Good texture in the building front, and I really like those pentagonal shields for the roof. Nice color usage in the foliage. I like the stone columns on either end. And the use of the letter tiles to create curtains behind the windows is brilliant! Well done! Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Sooo fantastic. They should frontpage it! Excellent play with wet/dry bricks! And those rock formations. And the house, the curtains, and and and Quote

NOD Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Very beautiful diorama. The dock is a fitting complement to Fort Stockton. I like the decorations on the facade and the windows. The pier looks interesting. The Rocky Coast is also well built. Especially the right side with the octagonal columns. Quote
Kai NRG Posted July 16, 2022 Posted July 16, 2022 Why do letters work so well for windows?!?! That's just so good. And the rock formations--I absolutely love that technique, never crossed my mind to do it for a historical build! They look great. Quote

Great stuff all around. Excelsior! They seem so rudimentary compared to the rest of the build but those basalt columns are a great idea. Quote
DeathCap Posted July 17, 2022 Posted July 17, 2022 Nice. How did you do the plumes on the shakoes? Quote

LM71Blackbird Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 Great build as always Evan! I like that you took the time to make the lower rocks the darker grey so they look wet from the sea. Well done all around and a pleasure to look at! Quote
Bregir Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 So much NPU, Evan. You never cease to surprise. Well done all around! Quote
Spud The Viking Posted July 19, 2022 Posted July 19, 2022 A really nice build, as others have said the techniques make it interesting to look at! Quote
evancelt Posted July 19, 2022 Author Posted July 19, 2022 Thanks guys! I've been finding a lot of inspiration in finding new ways to use parts I have a lot of, and by combining cool techniques I see around the internet with new ones I come up with. Quote
Brickwolf Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Awesome house on the cliff. Lots of interesting techniques! Quote
