LSD must be popular in Billund! The videos / presumed sets are so odd, it must have come from an acid trip.

...But I guess hallucinations are a kind of dream, so it fits.

While I am very glad that we're finally getting another original theme, I can't help but feel worried about its success. Ninjago is also having a massive "soft-reboot" release this year, exactly at the same time as this new theme. So there's going to be a lot of direct competition, especially with all this cross-promotion that they've done.

If I were in LEGO's shoes, I would have released this new theme either before the Ninjago reboot wave, or after it, when interest in Ninjago wouldn't have been at the highest. I'm afraid this might lead to yet another Chima vs Ninjago situation, where two similar themes with a similar target demographics compete for shelf space, inevitably causing one of them to lose sales to the other. And if history is anything to go by, Ninjago usually always comes on top.

Another thing that concerns me, is the theme's title itself. "Dreamzzz" just doesn't sound like a cool name that would attract kids' attention. "Ninjago" sounds cool. "Bionicle" sounds cool. But "Dreamzzz"? It kind of gives me the same strange, cheesy vibe as "Vidyo", which we all know how that one turned out.

I really hope that the sets and the TV show will be good enough to carry the theme, but given its strange title and competition with Ninjago, I am seriously worried about its chances of coming on top.

There were more leaks on Instagram, what I'm assuming to Mateo looks to be the first yellow skinned Minifigure with vitiligo, I'm not sure though

I'm glad they're giving a couple of the main characters of this (and the new Ninjago season) physical traits that more kids can resonate with, without changing the actual skin tone of the characters. Mateo has dreads and vitiligo and I'm pretty sure I've seen an image of Arin (the new yellow ninja) with afro textured hair. It may seem small but it does heaps for making each character feel uniquely relatable to different kids, and it also gives us more parts for custom figs outside of licensed themes. Friends and City have been great with this recently but I'm glad to see it spread to other themes. Big thumbs up to Lego from me. :sweet::thumbup:

Maybe the shorter character is Mateo? He has a letter M on his outfit, though there could just be 2 characters whose names start with M

I'd be more inclined to think that our character with vitiligo is Mateo, as he's out main character and is front and center with izzy on the poster

We know the characters in the images that carry an hourglass are Dream Chasers for The Night Bureau, and we know that Mateo and his friends have to face The Dream Forge Guardian to craft their own hourglasses, so Mateo and chums don't have hourglasses for the first few episodes.

This could suggest that the characters pictured without hourglasses are Mateo etc...

But the images aren't necessarily depicting the first few episodes, so we won't know until the show hits Korea on May 17th. Vitiligo guy is depicted dreaming on Lego's teaser page like he's a main character... So who knows?

I just hope the show is as good as it looks like it'll be

Does the purple on the villain's outfits and their eye motif remind anyone of this?

It mostly reminds me of the owl house, but that's a solid answer too

Which should totally be a Lego theme, it'd be better than Harry Bloody Potter.

Agreed, a lego ideas project based off of the show got to 10k recently

It seems that both the guy with the beard and eyepatch and the 'robot' (actually a Human in a suit) are good guys.
The dual-moulding and detailed printing look brilliant, as do the new hairpieces. I wonder how faithfully the characters' weapons will be translated into brick form.

What if the normal-looking kid is Mateo IRL, and the other character with an 'M' on his outfit is Mateo's dream-avatar? Maybe the woman with the sword is Izzy's dream-avatar?

That makes sense. I've just noticed an M on the not "powered up" version.

Maybe Mateo's comic book is something he drew himself and that's why his dream weapons are pencil-based

This has potential to be as good as Monkie Kid

The woman on the right is the non-powered version of the woman with the sword (note the dark orange shirt with white sleeves, and the freckles).

Pretty sure she's the one asleep snuggling Bunchu on the Lego website too.

Can't wait to see the show. It seems to combine all the best parts of Lego Elves and Lego Hidden Side.

About 22 days until we can watch it, in Korean at first probably. I wonder when the English dub will drop?

Nice catch!

I wonder if the characters will have anime-style magical girl transformations to switch into their dream-avatars (which would explain the significance of the hourglasses). 🤔

IMDB has updated their episode guide for the show. New info on episode 2, and and additional episode 7 and 8.

All this artwork has a lot of Nexo Knight vibes to me, it's quite similar to the illustration styles in the Book of Monsters / Book of Knights but more refined.

Nexo was the theme that got me back into LEGO (after 15 years) so for me this looks great so far.

I like that it's a mix of sword, spear, energy crossbow and perhaps a raygun, and then fantasy creatures etc.

With 2 other themes that generally use vehicles/mechs (Ninjago & Monkie Kid and formerly Chima/Nexo), I hope this is a little more creature , location focused overall, and for the first wave at least a flying bus and sharkship sound at least different enough from those.

Could have a lot of potential, and so far hopefully no sign of app/game focused but just a TV show.

Exactly, Hidden Side and Elves did have some vehicles, in terms of like ships or a schoolbus etc, and some smaller things, it did have a different focus from the typical action themes, and while there certainly seem to be villains (Nightmare King) etc, this sounds a bit different from a combat heavy theme and more about exploring strange places.

Locations that sound like what could be future sets from those show descriptions :

  • Night Bureau
  • Dream Forge
  • Brooklyn
  • Cyber World
  • Nightmare King (Castle?)

This list implies that Mateo, Izzy, and anyone else from the human world comes from New York, kinda similar to hidden side, where Jack is “from Boston” before moving to newberry (in the south, so like Mississippi/Louisiana, somewhere like that) as Brooklyn is a part of New York, though most people already know that
