Posted July 21, 20222 yr Hi, I was curious if anyone has done a MOC of the machine shown? I have the D11 dozer and the 6x6 Volvo hauler dump truck. I work in the civil construction industry and though it would be nice to have the scraper as well. I have only just started up again with Lego after 45 years so I don't have the spare parts or experience to do a MOC like this yet( for some time...)
July 21, 20222 yr Welcome to Eurobricks, nice to hear that you started up again with Lego after 45 years. There have been some scraper MOCs build, but none with instructions on Rebrickable. This one on YouTube was the closest match I think.. Another approach would be to take one of your models apart and start with a small scale scraper, that would be less complex then the bigger scale of the cat and the volvo. Start with a good tire choice and just begin. Just found this MOC from @Thirdwigg with instructions which could give you some inspiration: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-4620/thirdwigg/k-tec-1233/#details Edited July 21, 20222 yr by GerritvdG Added k TEC 1233
July 21, 20222 yr Welcome on board @Laurie8781 ! You picket a very challenging model, but with both your Cat and Volvo, you should have at least 90% of the necessary parts, if not all. The scale is set with the big 94.3 tires. Do you plan to motorize the set or make it manual? Edited July 21, 20222 yr by Jundis
July 21, 20222 yr Author I was more hoping someone had built it already so I could follow their plans. I don't have the skill yet! I have yet to finish the Volvo 6x6 haul truck and yet to start the D11.
July 21, 20222 yr Ok, but I don’t think plan’s exists for this model, also don’t underestimate the effort needed to search and order parts for a MOC. Another idea is to start building alternatives after you finished the Volvo and the D11.. these MOCs only use parts from a specific set. For example these excellent alternates are build of the 42114 parts: https://rebrickable.com/sets/42114-1/6x6-volvo-articulated-hauler/?inventory=1#alt_builds
July 21, 20222 yr It'd be great if TLG did a CAT scraper, seeing as they have the license. We've only ever had two Technic scrapers - I think it's about time for that to change.
July 21, 20222 yr When looking for MOCs with instructions you are probably out of luck if a quick google search doesn't bring up anything good
July 23, 20222 yr The only Technic twin scraper I was able to find was this one: I was able to build it from the video, about 1500 parts, but was never able to get the motors and hidden gearing to work. Tried changing it to pneumatics later with limited success, but certainly performed nicely in the video. Nothing I would like better than to find a good design of one of these monsters.
