technicfanatic Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Hi Everyone, My daughter is 8+ years old. She loves role playing with figures. While she shows some interest in LEGO, her favorite is Playmobile. I think too much building exhausts her (though she did build the Harry Potter Hogwarts castle over two days, by herself, when she was 7) and she would rather just jump into role play with figures. That said, she is on the cusp, where she will build things with LEGO, and she is very creative. I'm looking for a large set she could build with my help that has lots of figures and lots of figure playability. What are your favorite sets in 2022 that might fit this bill? She likes the usual girl things, and actually loves a lot of the smaller Friends sets. I think another thing that excites her about Playmobile is that there are video series with Playmobile figures. Do you know any similar video series with LEGO? The LEGO movies seem geared towards boys, with a ton of action and fighting and explosions - unless I missed a different type of LEGO movie. Thank you again for your help! Quote
imvanya Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 This year's Friends sets have a few bigger sets that seem very fun to play with – 41709: Vacation Beach House, 41711: Emma's Art School, 41714: Andrea's Theatre School, 41721: Organic Farm. Last year's 41449: Andrea's Family House looks nice, and I can imagine expanding it with custom built stuff City in general is more action-packed with Last year's City subtheme Wildlife Rescue seems to have a gender-neutral appeal with lots of animals and fun play features. That said, they are not really big builds. Also, there's a LEGO building instructions app with a Build Together feature. The feature allows you to build a set with different people building different parts of it and then combining them together. Not all sets are featured in the app, but 2022 Friends sets 41702: Canal Houseboat and 41703: Friendship Tree House are. Brickset has a review for Build Together: Review: Build Together As to LEGO shows, there seems to have been LEGO Friends series over the years. Quote
technicfanatic Posted August 2, 2022 Author Posted August 2, 2022 Thank you @imvanya! These are excellent suggestions! 41703 in particular looks very good to me. Quote
