gilderoy_blockhart Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Though not in the original books, I really loved this most memorable scene from the Deathly Hallows Pt1 film. Hagrid and Harry do the "loop-d-loop" to avoid head on traffic while evading Death Eaters during the Battle of Seven Potters. It was supposed to be a small build, but like many things it quickly grew in scope and became a much bigger project. Here it is ! This is only a small sample of pictures... there's a lot more on my IG. Link provided below. Enjoy !! Kjellevirus Posted August 5, 2022 Posted August 5, 2022 Wow, thi is great! All those small lights are a nice finishing touch. Quote
BrickMatit Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 A masterpiece of LEGO civil engineering and design! Really well done! Quote
Feuer Zug Posted August 9, 2022 Posted August 9, 2022 Fantastic build. Great work on making the tunnel shape first. I like the use of the Overwatch head for Hagrid with goggles. The look Harry has after barely missing the bus is perfect as well. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Wow, beautiful MOC and impressive building technique! Quote
karrit Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 This is really nice. I have to say that everytime someone mentions a set based on the Battle of the Seven Potters I keep thinking 7 identical Harrys with the seven Protectors/escorts and I think just no because I wouldn't buy a set with 7 identical Harry figures. This is something I would more likely buy. Quote
_TLG_ Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Amazing build! NIce idea to build this scene this way and the tunneltechnique is marvelous! Quote

Totally agree, I've probably got about 30 Harry heads lying around already... hard not to avoid the minifig as he is the titular character. There's not many non-yellow heads with goggles that don't look like a SuperHero (e.g. Hawekeye) and more normal. The whole scene in the film is SOO short... but I really do love the sequence. I was inspired to build this after I watched the Behind the Scenes filming on the Blu-Ray editions of the HP films. Really is 'magical' what goes in behind the films ! Quote
Mr Maniac Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 Amazing work all around, especially with those little LED fixtures. I cannot imagine how painstaking it must have been to keep the wiring from being too obtrusive. Also brilliant is your placement of one of those Death Eaters in the background of the second photo from the bottom. Very sneaky and a little off-putting (in a good way) since the focus isn't on that part of the model. How'd you build and position that figure? Or is it just the head and cloak hanging off some other parts? Quote

I probably made life hard for myself trying to photograph different scenes and having to have to rewire each one for each shot. One good thing though is that the new road plates that a lot of people don't like have the 2x4 tiles that cover studs with holes in them. Makes hiding wiring deep inside the model easier to do ! About the deatheater, I kind of cheated. I glue-gunned the head perpendicular to the neck to make it look like they were looking forwards while flying. I figured it'd be blurry so not as noticeable...Shhh... don't tell anyone ! :) Quote
dignow Posted August 26, 2022 Posted August 26, 2022 Amazing MOC - love the cutaway of the earth above the tunnel... Quote

That part was so fun to make, even though it's SO fragile and had to be rebuilt so many times !! Makes an otherwise gray tube a lot less boring to look at ! Quote
