Feuer Zug Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 (edited) Lieutenant Rodin was giddy from watching the Ministry of State Secrets operators prepare for the mission. His enthusiasm was infectious, leading to everybody having a good time during the mission planning. Major Brickinov took the young lieutenant aside. "I know you think it's like watching a movie, but this is life and death. Remember that. They expect you to be professional and the best at your duties as well." Smiling, he finished his counseling on a good note. "But it is good to know these men are on our side. They're some of the best at what they do. Enjoy the show." Cruising at 7,000 meters precisely 4 kilometers to the west of the captured cargo ship, loadmaster Sergeant Major Gurkin prepares to open the rear door. "Oxygen!" he yells. Throughout the aircraft, everybody dons supplemental oxygen. Receiving the thumbs up from the operators, he has Rodin depressurize the cargo plane. Once Gurkin's ears pop, he lowers the ramp. Immediately, MSS operators wearing night vision goggles run out the back into the inky blackness. The first operators get close to the ship and pull their ripcords. Parachutes deploy, slowing their descent and allowing them to close on their landing points.. The pirates appear not to have NVGs and the deck lights are low. Getting low, they coordinate their attack, shooting those on deck with silenced weapons before they touch down. More agents arrive as the team begins clearing the rest of the deck and begin infiltrating the ship itself. By morning the surviving pirates are captured and being held on the bow under armed guard. The crew has been freed and is back in control of the ship. Flying the banner of the PDSRE, they steer a course towards the nation of Soalon. They have a cargo of badly needed grain to deliver. Karl Steinschmidt's eyes glisten as he addresses the camera. "Good evening People's Star Network viewers. Today, we have glorious news from the naval forces tracking the captured freighter S.S. Kornmühle." "Yes Karl," Hilda Spiel chimes in. "In a daring action last night, our glorious PDSRE forces retook the freighter on the high seas. Today, it's cargo of grain is enroute to Soalon." "As part of the action," Karl states, "the notorious and wanted pirate Gerard le Brique was taken alive. Sources say he will be remanded to the Ministry of Justice to stand trial for his actions." Mirror1810 Posted August 10, 2022 Posted August 10, 2022 Very nice. The green tint for the night scenes is a nice touch. Though, I wonder, how exactly did the operatives get down unscathed? It doesn't look like they're using parachutes? Quote

I can't seem to find a good way to brick build the lines and parachute, so left them off. That's why I cropped the picture so low and left the operators a bit higher up. 1 hour ago, firearmsfan said: Nice job with the news! Thanks. Glorious propaganda for the PDSRE and KLR is something we strive for. Quote
ParmBrick Posted August 11, 2022 Posted August 11, 2022 Good moc, but if I can be honest, I found it a bit subdued compared to your usual standards, as if I saw little attention in some details, obviously this is my opinion. Quote

Fair comment. I intentionally kept some details out of this MOC. I hadn't done any post production work like I did for the night vision before and wasn't sure how it would come out. Without the colors, some details are already washed out and become hard to see. Other things become glaringly visible that normally aren't. Those "translucent" pieces are hideous in this format, but I couldn't find a way to remove them without everything really looking pathetic. It is definitely a learning experience for this mission. IF I do another green scaled setup, I have a better idea what will work and won't now. It sure won't be an airborne drop. Quote
