Hello!

Do we know something about the judges, and the judging criteria?

Like how the LEGO-build matches an existing prototype, proportions, scale, brickbuilt solutions over sticker and printed parts, etc?

Last worldwide competition seemed to be really heavy on "british style" train winners.

The judges are listed under the about section of the website. There are also judging criteria on the category pages that are used as a rough guideline for judges.

We have a few changes for judges this year to shake things up again, so we’ll see what happens.

Thanks for the reply. One more question - for last awards Horváth Gábor's WB KISS 2 was entered for "Electric locomotive" category, am I right, that EMU-s should entered this year to the "Full train" category?

Yes, that's right this year!

actually, entered a digital too, diner coach for the COD consist UP 10303. The others are uploaded, the M10005 "City of Denver" and one of it's coaches "Ogallala". For next year I think I should manage to get the full consist build, already have the decals for it thanks to OKBrickWorks

Excellent! They should be published in 2 - 3 days, seems to be a bit of a backlog at the moment (as I’m on holiday and Enrico, Henry and Levi are picking up my slack).

We’ve made a few improvements to the website too, which should hopefully improve the quality of some images on social which have been appearing very blurrily.

Thanks Richard. Are you posting the entries onto the BTA Facebook page as you did last year or can we find them elsewhere?

Yup, they’re going on Facebook etc too, just a bit of a queue atm as we have to approve them one at a time - should be another batch today

We’re currently up to date with processing entries, so if you’ve been holding back, now is a good time to enter!

Been great to see what people have been building so far - some truly stunning models

What's the judges view on 3D printing and modifying parts? In the FAQs it reads "... permit LEGO® elements which have been cut or modified". Is there a limit to how much modifying you can do?

The reason I'm asking is that I've noticed an entry that appears to contain more than its fair share of customised elements. Before finalising my own entry, I'd like to be clear on what will be allowed.

Good question, to which we don’t have a perfect answer for! There probably is a line somewhere, but we leave that to the judges discretion. I suppose it also depends where the cut parts are - it’s unlikely judges will see something in the centre of a boiler, or in the undercarriage, I suppose.

I’d certainly say some of the entries are past what I’d consider minor modifications, but I’m not judging this year, thankfully - a lot of superb models to chose from again this year

All on the website, to a degree.

We’ve switched judges this year in many regions, as it is quite judge dependent on what they like.

A final prod on this - entries (via website only this year please) close at midnight in your timezone on 30th September.
