Is there any news of any new character/accessory packs being released like the clone and hoth ones last years?

Unfortunately not. We did know about the previous ones for awhile by this time last year, and leakers have suggested there won't be any this HY at least.

I love this franchise, man. Started with "People are telling me I look like the guy, and the droid looks cool" and now I've played it on the hardest difficulty multiple times, have done almost everything there is to do in the game, etc. The new game looks absolutely incredible! I love what I presume is the opening of Cal and BD crashing the mantis with that sweeping shot as they look out onto a new world. All the new story beats and gameplay additions look excellent, and you can definately tell how this game will be 130gb. Are the only planets confirmed this main one and Coruscant? I don't think we saw anything that was definitively another planet in the gameplay.

Amen to that. I’ve suffered so much with this game that if I were a Harry Potter character, my patronus would be Oggdo Bogdo himself.

I do hope we get to see Trilla and some Purge Troopers in a set at one point or another. A TIE Interceptor would be a great way to go about, it but we’re already getting the Mandalorian S3 version so that’s essentially impossible.

I'm very excited about the TIE-Bomber (although I'm less-than-thrilled that the wings have apparently returned to the old plate-on-plate method of the early 2000s, as opposed to more modern designs. That feels like a massive step backwards, and will likely call for a heavy amount of modding). But I am not at all thrilled about the low number of releases slated for January. 5 sets is... bad. I really hope they aren't gearing up to suspend the license.

What modern designs? Every TIE variant that's been released in the last decade has used the plate-on-plate method for the wings with the sole exception of the standard TIE Fighter.

I mean it's low, but not much worse than last year, so I really would not worry about that.

There’s nothing to worry about. Lego and Star Wars are both thriving. They’ve just been spacing their releases out a bit more. We’re probably getting about the same amount of stuff, just far more spread out.

…there are (at least) two helmets coming in March, plus 3 dioramas, two Mando sets, and a D2C one in May. And undoubtedly a giant wave in August again

Also, this year‘s January wave was just as tiny. This theme ain‘t going anywhere

You’re right. I’ve heard huge rumours the Lego Star Wars team are struggling for set ideas with the lack of Star Wars content being released by Disney. They’ve decided to make existing ideas extra bad as an up you to Disney. Chaos everywhere. Savour the final year of Lego Star Wars folks.

I don’t want to be mean about your worries. 2023 has so much new SW content coming up, I honestly don’t see how TLG will keep up.

I have no inside info but I’m certain there is no way Lego is even considering killing this cash cow. You can relax

Don't know if this has been reported yet but according the someone who got the Bomber early on MandR's latest video showed that Vader does in fact have arm printing. the promotional images are apparently just incorrect, so that's good.

Yes. He clearly has pruning in the video/pictures that are out.

one big question I have is why they included an Imperial gonk droid. Has there ever been one in the films, shows, comics, or books? I don’t recall.

The Bomber really looks good! Rae Sloane is credited as a Vice Admiral, so I wonder if she has a five-over-five rank plaque (I cannot tell from the current blurry pictures), and the TIE Pilot has a new helmet print (though it does not appear to be a new mould) and new leg printing. My only qualms with this set are Rae Sloane's hair (which should have been a new, curlier, piece) and Vader's lack of arm printing (at least, it does not look like he has any).

Sloane has the correct 5 over 5 rank plaque. Vader does have armprinting, and a new face print.

Just chiming in to say how awesome it is that Lego is making a Rae Sloane minifig!

I love seeing Lego continue to reach outside of filmed media for inspiration, and hope they continue to do so.

The TIE Bomber set is a thing of beauty, absolutely fantastic. Between this and the 501st Battle Pack, we're already starting the year very, very well.

I agree they definitely should do that more, even though I would have prefered Admiral Anatasi Daala

What really irritates me is that we still have to endure the old Tie pilot helmet with the open neck when Lego uses flesh coloured heads. It is really time for an update.

Both excellent sets, I'm very happy with it.

Legends gang rise up

It is pretty annoying. It's one new mold, and it's been quite awhile. Could we please get a new one? I think every main trooper variant from the first two trilogies has a new, better helmet by now (Snowtrooper, Scout Trooper, Stormtrooper, both clone phases (including a third mold for the p2 trooper)).

The helmet is accurate. They'd just need to use heads like these again.

The TIE Pilot helmet is on its second mold though, and it is two years younger than the phase 1 clone trooper helmet mold (yes the old one was a recolored stormtrooper helmet, but it still counts)

...does it still count, though? It's very clearly a stormtrooper helmet. They just re-used the mold. It's like saying that Wrecker has his own unique helmet mold despite it being made for iron man.

New moulds can always be a double edged sword. The Stormtrooper helmet looks good from certain angles, but I feel the design tries to stay too true to the source material that it loses a little of that abstract caricaturisation that makes Lego so appealing. You also have examples like Tech’s helmet which just should have been scrutinised and refined a little bit more before being approved. Conversely the unique helmet moulds made for characters like Enfys Nest, Knights of Ren etc. hit that sweet spot for me in terms of good design.

With the TIE Pilot, changing minifigure head prints like @Graupensuppe said to have a balaclava covering most of the head makes the most sense, and is also quite accurate to canon. Otherwise all I can think is that these pilots have a convenient spot for Lego Rebel snipers to target.

All in all, the TIE Bomber looks pretty good! Not having brick-built frames on the wings like the 2021 TIE is a shame but understandable I guess, however I’m most disappointed that the cockpit window isn’t really a window at all. There’s something right about seeing a minifigure behind a cockpit viewport that just completes the experience of having a Lego-ised starship for me, but I can understand why the designers couldn’t provide that in this instance.

All in all, the TIE is a definite buy for me, and I’ll buy the Battle Pack if we get Rex in another set next year. I don’t mind these thoroughly downsized winter waves as long as the summer wave will be something special, and they always have been these recent years.

I don‘t know, I‘d rather have a bit more balance. The pattern of 3 small sets in January, 3 helmets in March, 3 dioramas in May, and a metric ton of sets in August is very unbalanced, as no things should be

Wouldn’t take that much to achieve that, moving around 3 of the August sets to January would suffice in my book. There are always sets based on older material in there that can released at any time of the year, like Kenobi’s Jedi Starfighter and 4+ AT-ST this year.

This is a good start for the new year. Proportions of the TIE bomber are quite good for the size. It seems a bit small so customisation is going to be a must if paired with older TIEs. Minifigs are good, but not so good for army builders. In that sense it's much better the smaller TIE from 2021. But for one or two sets in a collection, or for a nice gift it’s great.

It's nice to get an admiral minifig and it's a nice touch to add an arm-printed Vader in another not-so-expensive set. It's a bit odd to have him in the TIE bomber, though. Somehow I was under the impression that the TIE bomber had two pilots... The Gonk robot design is clever, although a bit on the cheap side, it would have been better to get another minifig for the price.

A nice TIE bomber set overall, given the adjusted price. I'll probably get (and tweak) two of them over time.

The TIE bomber doesn't look right when next to the 2021 TIE fighter imo, I think it's because the viewport is smaller

That really more of a flaw in the TIE Fighter then.

Lego and/or Disney must be having a fine joke in not officially revealing these sets.
