Person who is selling christmas ewok sells also minifigures from harry potter and marvel which are rumored to appear in 2023 advent calendars. There's not yet rumored list of minifigures for SW advent calendar but he sells Omega, 212 trooper and b1 droid too. This could mean that these 3 minifigures are in calendar.

Interesting, good catch. The 212th trooper is the only one JJP has listed, but the others are definitely possible.

If Omega’s in the advent calendar, I might have to rethink my plan to pick up the Justifier on May the 4th. Hopefully we get confirmation about the advent calendar figs before then so I can make an informed decision.

Saw the UCS X-wing in person at SWCE today, and it looked pretty good. It did look very... Stud-y, though. I think having the studs on the side of the nose section makes it look less sleek than it maybe should. Nice set, but I probably won't pick it up.

Good to know. I want to see it at the store and think that'll be the final call. Really want to see those review videos though! I wonder when the embargo is up.

Apparently Omega will also be included, according to the same IG source (unsure if it's credible). If that's true, and it's the same figure, the reseller market will crash lmao

Omega or Cad Bane would be beyond incredible cause I really want those figures, but won't be buying that disaster of a set for $170.
212th and Ewok sound great.

LEGO designers said it's not fair to people to have to spend $350 or more for an exclusive figure so it would be nice to see Veers from the UCS AT-AT, Kuill from the UCS Razor Crest, Fennec with a helmet, Moff Gideon or even a Gamorrean guard.

Veers is in the cheaper playset AT-AT

Seems like they keep flipping on this.

Veers just has the dual molded legs I believe (not sure if those are easy to get otherwise)

The general "rule" seems to be that MBS sets are fair game for exclusive characters, but with UCS, they seem to focus more on variants than anything (such as C-3PO in the Landspeeder, Han/Leia with gas masks in the Falcon, or Veers in the AT-AT.  You can still get those minifigures elsewhere, but the extra printing and stuff is exclusive to the UCS set).  The only real recent exceptions I can think of are Mythrol and Kuiil, though it wouldn't shock me if we did eventually get them in regular sets one day.  I'm betting that'll be the case with Rex, my guess is that the arm printing + bandage prints will be exclusive to the UCS Venator, but a version of him without those will come in a later, more affordable set.

Agreed 100% for Rex. Appreciate the deeper insight that I was lacking!

Except the dioramas, this was not much celebration.

Maybe I spend too much time on forums, but wasn't there complaining about OT stuff and not enough Clone Wars? I guess we are getting a good mix between shows and media (my own interpretation) but you can't please everyone all the time.

Assuming the rumors are true anyways.

I cannot believe we didn’t get a single set with a classic Ewok for the 40th anniversary of ROTJ

And nothing Jabba related…

On another note, am I the only one that feels like we’re in need for a new Phantom Menace set. I love the attention The Clone Wars is getting, but unfortunatly it seems to be at the expense of other non-Clone related prequel sets.

I do understand why Lego does not focus on The Phantom Menace though, it is not really that relevant in today’s Star Wars landscape compared to other media.

Yes, you are right, but the should not call it an anniversary celebration if you have nothing to celebrate with (i think)

I mean, we're getting 3 ROTJ anniversary sets (2 dioramas and the midi-scale one). Beats out the anniversaries of pretty much any other movie in recent times. CW03 got the same number of sets, but based on the era, not the show itself. ESB got the AT-AT and some convention exclusives, and AOTC got nothing (though I'd hazard a guess the AT-TE was meant to be one before being changed to a ROTS set to fit cody).

Plus the Brickheadz!

At least we’re getting the sail barge next year.

And yes, TPM is home to some of my favorite SW vehicles (MTT, Gungan Sub, Lucrehulk, Naboo starfighter, Sith Infiltrator, Royal Ship), some of which haven’t gotten a set in over a decade, or at all.

Don’t forget Obi-Wan’s Starfighter! :)

Alright, so these are all fair points. They also bring up the point that it's difficult to say what exactly is and isn't an anniversary set. (Boushh and the brickheadz both obviously are, since they're based on ROTJ and have ROTJ packing, but in general.) For instance, I think even if the dioramas didn't have ROTJ anniversary packaging or plaques, most people would count them. The Executor's plaque makes it an ROTJ set, but were it missing that, would we count it? The bomber, in my opinion, doesn't count as an ROTJ set, since the figs aren't from it, even though it has the packaging. For AOTC, does the starfighter count? It's based on the film and correlates to the anniversary, but didn't have any packaging recognizing it. Regardless, no matter how you decide what is and isn't an anniversary set, ROTJ's anniversary has had significantly more for it than any other SW media anniversary in recent times, which was my original point.

What the RotJ sets have going for them is it's not just LEGO making a point of celebrating that anniversary - it's been across multiple franchises, including at SWCE itself. The AotC sets didn't really get anything like that last year, and if memory serves neither did ESB around the time that the UCS AT-AT came out. Could be anything from a conscious decision within TLG to mark the anniversaries without calling attention to it, or just coincidence. They might even need some kind of permission from Lucasfilm to use these little anniversary badge things.

I'm holding out hope that we could still see some RotJ-themed sets coming in 2024. UCS Jabba's Sail Barge is heavily rumored, and it's possible the cancelled Jabba's Palace Diorama ends up coming out after all. Maybe we could also get a playset or two from Endor, like an Empire ground forces battle pack or something with regular Ewoks.
