This set had the opportunity to do what Obi Wan's fighter did last year in giving us the third figure that was completely new and incentivize people to buy an otherwise lame ship. People would be significantly more hype to buy this set if it had Darth Bane or one of the Force Priestesses from that arc and give reason for people who have the 2017? version to go out and buy it again. Major missed chance.

Yoda’s Starfighter makes me wonder how much involvement Lucasfilm has with what lego makes, since the 20th anniversary clone wars line is seemingly a Lucasfilm pushed thing as hasbro and hot toys are both making figures for the sub-line as well. Also the new micro galaxy wave includes yoda’s Starfighter, and early this year micro galaxy squadron made a coruscant gunship, the same seemingly random variant lego will soon be releasing.

I think it is just a coincidence. Micro galaxy squadron released also this year plo kon jedi starfighter and aayla secura jedi interceptor and Muunilinst 10 gunship and blue green gunship but I dont know from which legions are blue and green gunships

It's a plausible theory but I tend to agree with omega here - they've been doing a lot of waves & ships. The Gunship is a prequel staple. It probably sold well enough for them to green-light the variants, using the standard mold while it was still available. 

• Blue is Plo's Bros. It made a few appearances throughout the Clone Wars.
• Green is Separatist Nightmare" & is used by Ki-Adi Mundi in the 2nd Battle of Geonisis Clone Wars arc.
• (The 4th variant of the group, the Crumb Bomber, is also seen a few times in the show. It's just a standard 501st with a paint job.)

I have theory why lego will release coruscant gunship instead of regular gunship. There is high demand for this ship. People would buy even purple gunship now. So I think lego want to make many different gunships. Its better for lego to release first non regular gunship because less people would buy non popular gunship if regular gunship was released first. People which will buy coruscant gunship will buy standard gunship also.

I watched SolidBrix's review of the Spider Tank and I absolutely love it. It's really unfortunate that it's coming out so late but I'm still excited for the set since episode 2 was my favorite of Mando season 3. It's such a cool design that I hope it appears in other Star Wars media. It definitely looks like it could have been a CIS droid/vehicle, maybe it could show up again in something like Bad Batch season 3 or Mando season 4. It's of course a shame that LEGO didn't know about the cyborg but I'm already working on making my own to fit in the set once it comes out.

I have the 2013 Gunship and ATTE. I did not buy the ATTE last summer nor would I plan to buy another standard Gunship.

Selling a variant however has garnered my interest in addition to the gunship hungry people that will buy it already. It's great marketing by Lego.

This set was just so poorly done on the contrary. I don't know why they rushed to reveal it and then waited til August for it to come out all the while missing out on some key features. I get the concept art thing, but if it was coming out in August to begin with, why not just take the time to make it more accurate to the show. I would have certainly considered buying it if it came with the Grievous guy and the trap Din was in.

I mean if it has the opening hangar section then I can see some gunships and y-wings, but I think the deltas would be like just single studs at that scale

Presume it will be similar to the UCS Star destroyer which I can’t remember if it had any internal details. I think the fact that it’s a UCS I don’t think it’ll have things like that. Pretty sure the scale of such things would be advent calendar builds.

While this is at least better than the time you pretty openly spoiled Paz's death for everyone, it's still pretty easy for people to know you're talking about Kanan showing back up in a substantial capacity. Especially since this doesn't directly contribute to 2023 sets, can you please cut this stuff out?

Not trying to minimod, but this is really starting to annoy me.

 

Leaked Hera fig looks excellent. Still not super happy about the eyes, but it's not a huge deal IMO, and the rest of the figure looks great!

I agree, I think they could do something similar to the helicarrier (76042), with a few miniature Y-wings, gunships and other such ships, arguably they'd all be way out of scale, but that's an acceptable sacrifice to not make it a 10-meter* ship.

I hope it's a full interior ; a ship without an interior is (in my opinion) like a car with wooden wheels : operational, but really weird

I would certainly hope with the 400 piece buff. Just watched a review of the 2014 Ghost and I never realized how mildly underwhelming that set actually is.

It actually wouldn’t surprise me if they do an UCS version of The Ghost the same way they did the UCS Razorcrest or AT-AT with a full interior, I feel the ship is too popular already to not do that.

Yeah I would hope that a modern redesign of the Ghost would be more like how the Millennium Falcons are made with flip up panels that have a sizeable interior. I think it would be easy to do, especially now that the designers have so much more material to go off of than just a piece or 2 of concept art as they likely did with the first one. Now they have an entire tv series to go off of, assuming it doesn't drastically change for the Ahsoka series. Heck, even if it does, we still at least get a Rebels-accurate interior, so we win either way.

I can’t imagine it changing that much in all honesty, I mean maybe some of the crews quarters are used for different things but other than that everything else would be the same.  Tbh if they did an UCS version I’d kinda hope for a rebels based version.

I totally see a UCS Ghost being in the cards some day, there are just currently way too many outstanding "bank breaking" sets, especially in the SW category. It's a bit overwhelming to me to have 8 sets on shelves right now over $200, especially with the Venator on the way and none of those sets retiring...
