Balrogofmorgoth Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 If Rivendell hadn’t released this year, I think this would be set of the year for me. But Rivendell definitely still wins 45 minutes ago, ForgedInLego said: Huh. I guess I didn't expect it to be the Clone Wars style, but I still like it. I was planning on only modding the interior, but the exterior may need some updates to match my preference for the ROTS style Also can anyone tell what the dimensions say? Maybe it’s just me but it doesn't look like it says "40 in", second digit looks more like a 3.... I believe it’s the same shape and colors, the only difference is the red on the bridge to distinguish it as the Resolute. Someone correct me if I’m wrong Quote
Hhalcyon Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I'm gonna be that one negative nancy and complain that it's actually not just any Venator as seen in clone wars or revenge of the sith. It just HAD to specifically be modelled after the Resolute, a venator with a somewhat unique paint job. It's a good set but it honestly reduces the coolness for me by atleast 60% knowing it's just The Resolute. I would have preferred a normal venator so I could have had it be literally any other venator we see in the show or ROTS. I'm not even 100% sure Phase 2 Rex would have ever been aboard The Resolute. It was destroyed in season 3. Nitpicks I know, but I'm not gonna drop $650 on something I don't consider perfect now am i? I'll probably just buy it at a slight discount on the sets way out for FOMO reasons. I certainly doubt we're going to see ANOTHER UCS Venator with the standard paint job at any point in my lifetime. Someone correct me if I’m wrong The dorsal ridge is angled port and starboard while the ROTS is flat, the red stripe is stepped on the TCW, ROTS its straight, panel lines are much deeper and wider.... but other than that its essentially the same. The bridge is a pretty simple color swap job, I don't really care too much about that. Its a whole lot easier to find specific pieces in LBG than dark red. Let me be clear, while I would prefer ROTS I am not disappointed, I am still going to be camping out for this day 1 with a ridiculous grin on my face Edited September 9, 2023 by ForgedInLego Quote
ToaDraco Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 The UCS Venator looks phenomenal, wish I could afford it... and had space for it... Quote

Looks good, but I just don't have $650 lying around to buy it with, or 3+ft of shelf space for a single set. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Venator looks fantastic, it's perfectly built. Don't care about the set at all, but it's easily one of the best Star Wars UCS. Quote
sahidko Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Looks great, exactly what I hoped for. Now where to put it? :D Quote

Someone correct me if I’m wrong There are a handful of structural differences. ForgedInLego mentioned a few, but the placement of the side guns is also somewhat different (one of the versions has them noticably further forwards on the ship, although I can't remember which), the Open Circle Fleet emblem is further back, the intented greebly area is larger in the TCW one, etc. More significantly, the internal hangar layout is depicted very differently in TCW than RotS, although that's not obvious from the outside of the ship. It's also worth mentioning that Resolute isn't the only Venator with the red bridges. TCW used that for any 'hero' ship that the audience needed to tell apart from generic background allies, so several Venators that happened to be featured prominently in an episode use that color scheme (Endurance, Liberty, Even Piell's unnamed flagship, etc), and in-universe there are presumably numerous others. Definitely don't be thinking that you have to call this one Resolute just because of the paint! Edited September 9, 2023 by Kdapt-Preacher Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 Looks great, but the stand gives me a headache. I was expecting its footprint to be similar to the SD‘s, but its „legs“ are spread much farther apart. Now I don‘t think I‘ll be able to display it at the angle I had in mind Back to the drawing board! Quote
Alpha Draconis Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 UCS Venator looks really good! A worthy set of all my VIP points I currently hold, which should bring the price down under 500€. Might wait for Black Friday to get double VIP points Quote
Shiva Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 UCS Venator, it looks great! Sadly, no space in this apartment. And it would bite a huge bite of my LEGO budget and budget overall. Maybe if a big lottery win. Quote

Ellisss_2 Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 The Venator is amazing I would have preferred a Revenge of the Sith version, however it is nice to see this variation as most MOCs are based on episode 3. Quote
Gorilla94 Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I really hope Rex will come in a more affordable set ^^´ What do you guys think? Didn´t Lego say there wont be exxlusive Figures in UCS sets in the future a while ago? Quote

There is a very good chance he will come in a cheaper set (without arm printing) sometime in 2024, maybe the missing 75377? Yularen will probably stay exclusive though Quote
HatBricks Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 The Venator looks perfect, I love it! Personally, I think it being the resolute is cool! Now the only question is to find a way to afford it... Quote

It´s the main selling point for lots of people^^´ Maybe we are lucky. I mean, Vader and C3PO with printed arms became more available, too. Not to forget Mando and the new Boba. I´d really like to get a pretty Rex minifig and a Gunship so good as the ATTE. Quote
Old Master Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 I think the only pitfall of this set is that the 2 republic logos are stickers. This is especially annoying since from what I can tell they are the only 2 on the set. For a $650 set, you'd expect for it to be printed. Quote

Maybe in a Rex mech without his pauldron like Boba Fett, but who knows Quote
mirkwoodspiders Posted September 9, 2023 Posted September 9, 2023 What an amazing model. I on noticed the back of the box, the only images other than the main set are all from the film. Hopefully that means there's a feature or two that they're keeping a surprise, but I wouldn't be too upset if what we can see now is what we get. This is so encouraging, seeing LEGO take a dive into Disney+ and the Prequels for UCS the last couple of years. Hopefully it is a sign of more set like these to come. Quote

I feel the same, though. I didn't like it the moment I noticed the bridge towers were colored red, too. I wondered why so much, until I came to this forum, just now, 'cause I never noticed the Resolute had that too, in the series I'm not sure if there are any other color variations compared to a standard Venator, but it just looks off, aside from the shape and stuff. Granted, in all other ways it looks absolutely amazing, but I'm glad to be saving €650 on this Regards, Mitch Quote

I can 100% see them upgrading a figure to put it in a more expensive set but I'm not sure if they'd bother to create a whole new figure with different arms just to say "ur poor lol" to anyone who buys the other set. For LEGO it might be cheapest to just throw in the exact same figure and ditch the pauldron. Here's hoping! Either way, this Rex will absolutely be available on bricklink for under $50 within a few months, so I'd advise nobody buy the whole set just for him! Quote
