ArrowBricks Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) Personally don’t think the Snubfighter is as bad of a deal than suggested. People are making these conclusions whilst seemingly forgetting the price hikes as a standard. Admittedly, Greef Karga would have been nice but until I know the minifgures for the summer wave I can’t fully use that as a criticism. In terms of the Microfighter, I can only speak of the UK price. At £13 it’s not terrible, especially when relativising with the existing prices of the sets these days. Edited March 7, 2023 by ArrowBricks Quote
Hhalcyon Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I also wonder if that Snubfighter being £30 and only coming with 2 figures doesn't really bode well for the Yoda Starfighter coming at the same price in the summer. They really had a nice value going with the Obi-wan fighter having 2 real figs and an astromech. Then again the snubfighter ALSO only has 2 REAL figures, it just doesn't have an astromech to pad the count. So maybe we will see an interesting 3rd character in the Yoda set but i'm a bit less optimistic about it now. Quote

As is, I don't think this set. No characters kids care about, and not a particularly interest. Well kids might come to care about Vane, he has been in every episode of the Mandalorian season 3 (as of now anyway) 45 minutes ago, Mandalorianknight said: THANK YOU! I don't get why this isn't such a big deal for people. I know! This feels like it should be a bigger deal than people are making out of it. They increased the price over 50%! I think because $16 is relatively cheap, even if it's insanely overpriced, it's going to fly under the radar and lots of parents will probably still get it, not realizing how absurd it is. Honestly it's partly because I don't really buy mircofighters. The price hike over here is £9.99 to £12.99 which feels less egregious as well and this might very well be our last mircofighter as the mechs are seemingly coming in to steal thier niche. Quote

Yeah and you can't really count Grogu as a second minifig. I mean there has only been one, and he's been in a million sets. At this point he is basically the same as a 1x1 tile! As far as the snub fighter goes, by itself it's a nice little ship. Doesn't seem anything like the show version. (maybe it was based on an earlier design?) Additionally, even if these pirates show up alot this season, I don't imagine them becoming that popular, or staying in play long term? I guess we will know once the season is over if there was a better opportunity that was missed! Quote
Jenga Fett1 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Should be $13 maximum. Are those metallic grey pieces though for the bricks? Or are they just dark grey? Quote
Classic_Spaceman Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 On rewatching the dogfight scene from the Mando S3 premiere, I noticed that none of the snubfighter pilots wear the outfit that the Minifig has. Considering that Gorian Shard is coming back later in the season (from trailer shots), Vane did not use a sword in the premiere, and there are at least two other Niktos on Shard's flagship, I wonder if this set is actually based on a later episode. 🤔 Quote

MaximillianRebo Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Snub Fighter: Looks like a good build, nice layering on the plates, good detail, lots of useful parts. The stud shooters are also well integrated and don't stick out like on other ships. On the downside the nose area looks a bit long and not wide enough - based on the artwork in the credits. I would shorten it by a stud or two at the front and make it a stud wider on either side. Minor nitpick but the front cannons appear too long but that's an easy fix: remove the candle pieces and just keep the Darth Maul lightsaber pieces . Colour wise yeah it's another bley ship; maybe that's the in-universe design but some colour accents would have helped. Again based on the credits artwork it looks to have a lot of dark blue, but maybe that's just the colour shading of the image. Microfighter: 50% price increase Does this mean the upcoming Mechs will now be the cheapest of the new sets? Maybe that's intentional... I don't mind the build - it's a microfighter after all - but definitely bulkier than the Naboo iteration. Lose the stud shooters (or revert to wing mounted flick fire missiles a la the previous version) and move the nose back a stud would help a lot imo. Quote
Frizzlefry25 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 It's made worse by seeing Bobs Fetts Microfighter sitting next to it on a shelf for $9.99 with 3 less pieces. 4 pieces if you count Grogu. At least if they retired that, you may not feel as violated. Quote
The Stud Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) 16 hours ago, BrickBob Studpants said: Or maybe a set got cancellled. The rumoured Jabba diorama still hasn’t been assigned a new number yet, after all… Oh god, don’t jinx it. That’s one of the sets I was most looking forward to. Like others are saying though, vague fearmongering is going to get people more riled up than actually saying what you know. Most people are going to be pissed at Lego, not the leaker, if some disappointing news comes out. And if for some reason you can’t say something, or you’re not confident enough about the veracity of your intel, then don’t drop vague hints at all. As for the new Mando sets, I’m collecting every set from that series (excluding the helmet sets) and its related spin-offs, so I’m getting these two sets regardless of any qualms I might have. The N-1 microfighter is whatever. It’s kinda weird that they’re waiting until August to release it, especially because I’m sure the updated Din Djarin helmet print will also come in the other Mando set coming out in May. Just like the full-size version from last year, the fuselage of the N-1 looks fine but the wings leave a lot to be desired. Still, it’s nice to include Grogu and Mando in such a cheap set, even if it should be much cheaper. It’s crazy to me that as of a couple years ago, you could have gotten a full-size Jedi Interceptor for just under $10 more than a Microfighter. Or even the Trouble on Tatooine set, which included the same two figures (minus the updated helmet on Mando), one additional figure and more pieces/builds, has also been very easy to find for close to the same price. The Pirate Snub Fighter is a *decent* set, but as I touched on the other day: without Gorian Shard or a main character like Mando or preferably Season 3 Greef included here, the set’s just kind of boring. The pirate figures included here are fairly nice and well-detailed, but even then, they dropped the ball by making them share the same face. The design of the ship itself is pretty nice but like others have stated, I’d like a little more color variety in Star Wars ships. Other than the lacking minifigure selection and $35 price, the set is a good one but those two qualms really hold it back. If it weren’t for that price, I’d even say that the set is good for army building as Mando had a dogfight with multiples of this ship, and with a good discount, I still might get extras of this set myself. Releasing it on May 5th is oddly specific, but I’m guessing Star Wars Day festivities will be the weekend after May the 4th since May the 4th is on a Thursday this year. In that case, I might actually go to the Lego Store on release day to get the two new Mando sets, the TIE Bomber, the Tusken Brickhead and hopefully the Jabba diorama. wesker Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Not really interested in the microfighter but the updated helmet print for Mando looks good. The Snub Fighter is definitely overpriced but it won't be difficult finding good discounts on this one. Shame there's only two minifigures as it was a perfect opportunity for a Season 3 Greef Karga. Vane and the Snub Fighter Pilot still look great though. Hopefully those Nikto heads get reused for Jabba's Sail Barge in the near future. 3 minutes ago, The Stud said: Like others are saying though, vague fearmongering is going to get people more riled up than actually saying what you know. I'm not gonna lie I honestly forgot he lived. a price increase of 30% is a lot better than 60%, so that's not terrible. I wouldn't go so far as a 1x1 tile, but he's definately not equal to a minifig, and I think at this point most mando fans have one. I doubt he's the draw lego's thinking he is. Yeah, I noticed that too. It feels too... modern? More like something out of a prequel film or GOTG than the more original trilogy style/blocky design of the in-show ship. Totally agree about that too, for most people the pirates just aren't that interesting of a faction. I think they'll show up again for, like, an episode or two, but I don't think they're gonna be all that interesting. The AT-ST raider did well back when it was the only way to get Mando and Cara, but imagine if it just came with some Klatoonians. I don't think it would do well. Quote
ToaDraco Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 (edited) The Snubfighter is overpriced by $10 but it looks good, I just wish it had more color. It looked like they had red on them in the show. The figures look good but the reused face for both is just stupid. Overall I like it and I'm getting it. The microfighter looks awful and is absurdly overpriced. Mando will come in the $100 set I have no doubt so this is an easy pass. Edited March 8, 2023 by ToaDraco Quote

Flawless Cowboy Posted March 8, 2023 Posted March 8, 2023 Snubfighter displays well, love the tiny curves and greebles and the new tinted cockpit piece. Minifigures are neat, although the pilot never shows up on screen, at least in episode 1. The grey color scheme makes sense as a generic pirate ship, only Vane’s fighter had the red paint job. Given the uniqueness of the pilot figure, I don’t see this set or the figure as things to be massed, unless we get pirates in future sets. Quote

If they mean the set won’t release on May 1st, and also not on any date after that, that’s when the disappointment would set in. Quote
