Why buy a 70$ endor diorama when you could get the jedi shuttle in a few months for the same price?

these diorama sets are 100% gonna get marked down like the awful black panther bust.

That's if the shuttle is that one, it could be the bigger one, so more expensive. But yes, I'm of that mindset myself which is why Im skipping a lot of these sets.

More than fair lol I feel you. I wanna know all of them XD

Sorry for the speculation, but what if the 100$ set is an  undersized Chimera?

Imo the diorama sets offer a granular level of detail that the play sets don’t. They also tend to represent “places” rather than ships, something sorely missing from the LSW lineup, along with MBS. That’s the main appeal to me.

Thrawn's destroyer? The Imperial Light Cruiser was like way more expensive and one would consider that undersized, no? That one was $160 US

Yeah it was, but now that its retired (i think), there's always a star destroyer on shelves, so maybe we have the 70$ jedi shuttle going up against the 100$ chimera?

Honestly, I love the diorama collection but man, this set just ain't it. I'm quite interested to see the in depth on the throne room though.

One thing i've noticed is we haven't really see much of the play scale location sets since these have been coming out, hopefully they're replacing them.

I really want to see some prequel diorama sets though, there's so many visually stunning areas that they can draw from.

Hopefully this will coincide with the anniversary of ROTS…Mustafar duel, Palpatine’s Arrest, Senate Duel, wowza.

I'd rather have location sets without the redundant black base build and random SW quote. I certainly hope that these dioramas haven't 'replaced' that kind of sets.

I don't get this. The endor one is rough, yeah, but the Trash Compactor and Yoda's hut both sold great last year (the trench run... did not), and the throne room doesn't seem bad. But everyone's lumping everything together like the dioramas themselves are the issue, which I don't think is fair.

I mean first off, there is most certainly not always a star destroyer on shelves. If you count the UCS one, the last increment of a star destroyer being continuously on shelves was October 2019-december 2022 (this is the same whether or not you count Gideon's cruiser.) It's definately not always on shelves. Besides that, since the show is about finding Ezra and Thrawn, a chimera set would likely have to be spoilery, not to mention laughably undersized.

We're getting the largest non-UCS/MBS SW location set ever this summer, so I don't think they did.

Tangentially related, but rumor has it that the next Star Wars: The Vintage Collection Haslab project is The Ghost and it’ll be revealed at Celebration next weekend. This is probably being done to tie-in with the ship (most likely) appearing in the Ahsoka series and with Star Wars Rebels turning 10 next year. Now this is a crowdfunding thing, and I might be drawing a connection where there’s none to be drawn, but the fact that Hasbro’s looking to do a version of The Ghost could be another potential sign of Lego doing a Ghost remake within the next year or two.

As for the Speeder Bike Chase set, I’m kinda baffled that they almost went out of their way to do those Luke and Leia figures so poorly. Ponchos are really needed for those versions of the characters in my opinion. They could have just reused the Final Duel Luke figure with a poncho and hat, and slightly updated the 2015 Endor Leia figure.

The only location sets that can equal or improve upon the level of detail of the diorama sets are MBS sets, which I also desperately want, and can’t believe we haven’t gotten since the Cantina in 2020. Lego’s non-adult location sets have been very few and far in between but they usually don’t look that visually impressive to me. Hopefully Yavin IV impresses.

I believe it’s roughly the same piece count as Vader’s Castle in 2019, which is a good gauge for size and scope.

Hardly anybody is doing that, to be fair.

You mean to tell me you weren't impressed with the incredible detail and complexity of the Tenoo jedi temple that just got revealed? :sarcasm_smug:

It's a good ballpark for general volume. (My guess is shorter but more of a footprint, maybe something like this, minus the x-wing, where it's got the temple exterior with the throne room and briefing room on the upper level):

Though the amount of figures rumored combined with the price increases means it might be somewhat smaller.

I think the evidence for the Ghost is around the same amount (though not the same reasons) as a gunship. They both have no actual evidence, but just sort of make sense for lego to be doing this year. That said, we'll only get one this year, if we get either...

I didn't get all the complaints at first about the figures, as they look fine to me in general, but the more I look at them, the more I realize how bad of a look it is for an 18+ set of all things to have figures that are like out of their way to be inaccurate.

I've seen quite a few comments criticizing the dioramas in general, but maybe it's just the same 2 people or something, I don't want to scroll back for the usernames.

I wonder if anyone's ever tried to re-create the 2010 sketch model and figured out a ballpark of how many pieces that one had?  Because that one is actually decently tall, looking at a picture of it now (granted, it uses two baseplates and two of the large crane leg pieces, both of which seem to sorta kinda phased out these days?), and it seems like you could build that model (including the midi scale X-Wing) for around 1,000 pieces, but I have no idea if that's an accurate estimate or not.

I'd like it to be as big as possible, but I'm not really sure how tall it could be, because they seem to use fewer of those large specialized parts these days and that's really the only way to make it tall while keeping the part count lower.

Honestly, I like both dioramas.....but lol too much stuff I want.

I assume retailers are gonna keep hiding the TIE vs FF set bc of the spoiler aspect...so we probably won't see those leaked until after the season ends. I hope we see something soon tho!

I don't follow the vintage collection at all, are the ships generally to scale with the figures? if so, that thing is going to be gigantic.

The lack of pupils for Palpatine is really weird. Sort of similar to the weird coloured eyes for some women characters they’ve done in the past for some reason.

Also, why on earth does Vader have the angry face in this one? This is the one set where his contented face is needed.

Overall the set looks amazing, but I’m definitely not shelling out $130 for a bit of an upgrade over a more expansive ROTJ Throne Room I already own.

Yes they are. They’ve already done a massive Razor Crest & Jabba’s Sail Barge.

It apparently has around 1,200 pieces. Although there are a lot of large pieces that probably wouldn’t be used in a set in the modern day.
