Kit Figsto Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 (edited) So it's either an April Fool's joke, or it's a reverse April Fool's joke, where it is actually real and they dropped it on April 1st to mess with everyone. What I think it has going for it in the "real" column is that a Ghost and Gunship individually would make a lot of sense. The figure lineup for each seems plausible enough (if they were doing a Coruscant gunship from TCW, Palpatine and Padme aren't that outlandish, and Fox would be a draw, especially as I assume he'd be P2), and the prices would seem about right. What smells fishy to me: - Swamp speeder figures seem...plausible, but a bit too outlandish? I mean, TCW S7 was like two years ago now, and I don't really know if they'd go back and revisit Vaughn and the 332nd. - A UCS Venator, let alone one that locks Rex behing a $650 price point, seems WAY too crazy to be real. It's one thing to put Cody in a $140 set, but putting one of the most fan-requested figures in a $650 UCS, especially like two years after saying they didn't want to lock heavily requested figures into expensive UCS sets...I dunno, that seems fake. Like, would they seriously make Rex exclusive to a $650 set? - Getting all of these sets at once seems just way too good to be true. - In the comments, the Promobricks guy doesn't seem to actually refute the comments saying "this is an April Fool's joke" and instead just explains why the list wasn't updating right away...I haven't looked at any of their YouTube stuff, though, so I'm not sure. Fulcrumfan91 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Yeah figure selection for the Gunship isn't outlandish for me, the Ghost makes a lot of sense too.....the other two tho? Eeeeeeh I don't see it. But man if they're real.......lol that'll be amazing. Would defs pick up the Swamp Speeder when on sale, Gunship I might wait...Ghost is a definite buy, don't care about the UCS Venator tho. If real that is. Quote
Legofan2001 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 That Reddit “leak” Is literally identical to the promobricks “leak” idk I do agree with people here that Palpatine/Padme do make sense if it’s really a Shock themed gunship. (Although I do think Commander Thorne makes a bit more sense with Padme) Quote
CF Mitch Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Aw, man, please someone tell me these aren't real The Republic Gunship sounds great, with those minifigures! The UCS Venator is also very appealing, but it'd probably be huge. Oh, well, guess we'll have to wait and see whether it's an April Fool or not. Regards, Mitch Quote

Legofan2001 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 So it won’t let me post the Screenshot but that dude doubled down on 75354 being a gunship again 10 days ago. Quote

I think the Venator lines up size/piece count wise considering it’s smaller than an ISD but also has a bunch of red markings and more unconventional shapes than an ISD. I could definitely see it having more pieces than the ISD Quote

Legofan2001 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Promobricks is claiming that the Rex in the Venator has a bandage where he got his chip removed. IF true that could be Lego’s way out on P2 Rex like January 2024 could include a P2 Rex in a cheaper set with a different face print. Quote
Fulcrumfan91 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 Well, it'll be midnight in Europe in.....about 4 hours. We'll see. Quote

ISD was able to get away with solutions that didn’t require many pieces, a Venator wouldn't and would probably need engines similar to something like the UCS X-Wing Quote

That was literally how he looked like in skywalker saga, so that could be true, is the Venator a UCS set tho? honestly, i'd say we're def getting a Rex this year, and i hope this will age like milk so i can get wronged. hopefully some of these are false otherwise im gonna become that homeless clone from kenobi. Flawless Cowboy Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 I wonder, if true, how they’ll be able to make a gunship with 1,083 without it looking underwhelming. Quote
Goofster Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 1 minute ago, Fulcrumfan91 said: According to PB, yes Naah, they won't put a Rex in an expensive set like that, maybe 170$ max but def not a UCS, the people are gonna be angry as heck. Quote
Fulcrumfan91 Posted April 1, 2023 Posted April 1, 2023 I mean...the old one had slightly more pieces? Maybe this one comes with less in that there's no speeder included and super battle droids included. Idk. 1 minute ago, Goofster said: Naah, they won't put a Rex in an expensive set like that, maybe 170$ max but def not a UCS, the people are gonna be angry as heck. The last two playscale gunships were oversized relative to minifigs interestingly enough, and modern building techniques could reduce piece count. For example, the front of the fuselage could be done using a technic frame and studs of the side cladding, as opposed to vertically stacking regular bricks. I'm on team real. I can't see Promobricks risking their credibility for the sake of an April Fools joke. Edited April 1, 2023 by Willsy Quote

Existing prints can be used, and Vaughn was requested by fans and fits in with other figures that can use said existing prints. LEGO seem to like the 501st as well, which lends itself to this. Quote
