The Star Wars team at LEGO really has a habit of making what everyone is hankering for. Non-canon Mace Windu squad. Gigantic Justifier. Republic Gunship except it's the red one that appeared on screen for five seconds.

To be very fair on the last point, we already have a giant AOTC UCS gunship in the classic scheme. They’ve covered that base technically

I wonder if lego would consider making basically the same build as the Coruscant Guard Gunship but in white, with door guns and Episode 2 figures after the coruscant one retires?

The real issue i have is I don't know if Lego is going to continue with their current 10 year gap between these kinds of things. Hopefully it was a blip caused by the sequel trilogy and now lego would maybe make the larger clone wars vehicles every like 5 years instead of 10 because WOOF that's a long time to wait for arguably the most iconic ship in the clone wars, considering it's been 2013 since we've had one already.

I don't think the UCS gunship should count here because it's very clearly not the same thing.

I don't think the UCS gunship should count here because it's very clearly not the same thing.

I mean, other than it being oversized, it’s quite literally the same thing. But being that these are play sets, and thus appeal less to adult collectors than UCS sets, Lego cares less about checking every adult’s “iconic” box and more so making a cool-looking set for all audiences. Lego plays fast and loose with the cohesion and screen accuracy of play sets and I don’t expect that to change.

Padme will be cool! I only have the AoTC which is really the only modern non-CW Padme, so it'll be cool to have some new variations out there

Venator - the piece count compared to the ISD is interesting to me tho. How much bigger could it be? I don't think somewhat of an interior is off the table with the extra 500ish pieces, but what do I know. Time will tell! 

At the very minimum, the landing strip thing with the giant red line would be a SICK function to add, but that's more wishlisty than anything.

If the UCS Republic Gunship is "quite literally the same thing" as a playscale classic gunship then we have nothing to complain about because if size and detail aren't a factor then all those microfighter/polybag gunships we've been getting are "quite literally the same thing"

So let's not pretend that different product lines are the same thing, just because they depict the same thing. Otherwise the Jedi and Clone Troopers Battlepack would be technically a gunship.

What I’m saying is that Lego doesn’t care about the minuscule audience who will make a fuss about the red gunship not being white. And if adults want a generic gunship they have the UCS gunship which they voted for, which is almost exactly what Lego said lol.

Well I hope they're willing to hear my clone trooper army building butt complaining about it for the next decade then cus I am not buying that oversized overpriced hunk of junk that was the UCS gunship. And that's coming from someone who is more than willing to buy that venator coming up. The UCS Gunship is simply, scientifically stinky.

I have fit 30 into the 2002 one, its a tight fit but it does work

But yeah, Lego is surely aware of army builders, but the fact they impose caps on Lego exclusive army builders (like last year’s phase 1 clone accessory pack) tells me they care more about the general audience than the people willing to buy dozens of a set.

Honestly I have a distaste for pretty much all the "not a giant grey dorito or sphere" types of UCS sets so i'm definitely biased. They do definitely care about stopping people like MandR from buying 300 of their battlepacks at once but they have a limit of 5 on the AT-TE which i would say is more than reasonable. I cannot imagine a scale of army builder who needs more than FIVE AT-TEs, what kinda mocs do you think we're making Lego damn. So they're definitely aware of people who buy multiple BIG vehicles for their armies, but it would be unreasonable to expect them to cater to us but c'mon don't make me wait 20 years lego pls.

Isn’t the next sequel sequel trilogy happening within the next 3 years? I may have bad news about the future of clone wars sets

Speculation? not quite, an alleged former employee is saying that they saw the parts and that it was mostly red with no green. We have no real way of knowing if they're legit until it's either refuted by someone who is more trusted or until it's revealed.

The Redditor said about the sticker sheets that the Gunship "didn't have anything to write home about, mostly republic logos", so either converting the set into a regular LAAT or just MOCing one with the instructions should be fairly easy. Also, this seems to rule out a BARC side-build.

I believe this Fluffy leaker btw but something really odd is he said the wings don’t seem to have the Bubble Turrets on them 🤔

Here are other things Fluffy told me in DM’s.

Jedi Shuttle, with Ahsoka, Sabine, Huyang, and an inquisitor w/ no printed face 

Yavin set was the medal ceremony main cast (Luke, Leia, Han, Chewie, R2, and 3P0) with a Y Wing, as well as a handful of pilots, regular rebels, the admiral dude from the last x wing (if I remember correctly), and a new astromech. 10+ figs including the droids.

 

(Inquisitor with no face is odd but maybe it’s the new character Baylon from the Ahsoka show)

I agree that this is weird, since the version in the show does have the wing turrets.

They said that "the only clear 'window-like' elements were the two cockpits". 😕

An Inquisitor is odd, though it could just be a misidentified new character. 
Yavin is nothing that we did not already know/suspect - Did they say anything about the breakdown of the Rebels (technicians, mechanics, pilots, Fleet Troopers, Honor Guard, etc)?

He said he’s skeptical to call it a Gunship because he saw no bubble turrets on the wings. (He did say it’s possible they’re brick built though)

He said everything screams gunship outside the lack of bubble turrets. (Part of me wonders if this is actually a republic cruiser/frigate)
