On another note I’m really intrigued to hear opinions on the Yavin Temple currently. With so many amazing sets coming and the ever-increasing price of Lego, is there space for the set in your budget this year?

Honestly it vaguely intrigued me but It's gotten to be very low on my 'wanted list'. The ghost, gunship, T6, swamp speeder are all above it as is the tie interceptor & fang fighter duo pack, batman sets, Zelda set, Barad-Dur, x-mansion pirates bluecoat fort, ninjago city markets etc, It's low down enough that without a discount to temp me, I'm just not gonna get it, I can't get everything and a lot of cooler things are in the pipeline.

We originally saw 1x 332nd Trooper in the AAT in 2020 and the figure and set have been pretty pricy since their retirement. So seeing Lego re-use the clone in a cheap army builder set for those that missed the original is really nice. I have to imagine it's good for business too. You make a new clone trooper, you put it in one set where people can only get a couple at a time. Then once that set's off the market, you get more value out of the work you did to design it

I just hope that they continue with what they did with the 501st and the 212th and put them in the magazine. I know that only really benefits Europeans but hey for those elsewhere it might bring down the resale price?

What happened today, the mech fig news (Boba arm printing, vader arm printing), the Fox and Hera part leaks, anything else?

I'm also re-iterating my idea of a leak/rumor thread that simply posts new information as it's received, as the discussion thread moves quite quickly.

Those part leaks may not be real.

I would like a daily leak/rumour roundup thread, but I am not sure how one could be made without requiring the mods to comb through pages of discussion to find bits of information (that may or may not be real!) to post in another thread. 😕

Hence why we have a news thread. I don't have time to comb. But anyone is welcome to post a summary/round-up in that thread at any point.

I'm not sure how it impacts the price of the figures overall but after the 212th magazine most of the ones i saw on bricklink in the UK and EU went from about £10-12 down to like £6-7. ($12-$15 down to $8-7 in US speak, no idea if those were/are the US prices though, it's kinda it's own eco system to us Europeans cus the postage from the US is like $25)

Either way the magazines are a very good for the european market (as a buyer anyway) because they absolutely flood the market. The 2020 501st trooper is still like £6 because 1. the 501st legion set was out for ages and 2. we got it in a magazine as well.

Oh and as a little note for us europeans looking for the magazines w/ clone troopers
Issue 93 was March 2023 and it had the 212th Trooper (I think it actually came out in late Feb in mainland europe)
Issue 81 was March 2022 and it had the 501st Trooper (again, late feb in mainland europe)
Also. those issue numbers will vary by country but basically, watch out for feb/march 2024 if you're looking for another clone trooper.

I also suspect we might see another kind of army buildable figure in July/August 2023 (based off of me looking at past years)

Patterns are never guaranteed with Lego though so stay vigilant. April 2023 will be an X-wing and May 2023 will be Episode 2 Obi-wan for anyone wondering.

Speaking from the US perspective, it does help drive down the BL price quite a bit, even if it's still not as cheap here as it often is in Europe.  Even though shipping costs are kind of high to go overseas, it's not too bad to ship just some small stuff, like a minifigure (I think you can do it for under $10-15), so sellers in the US can't jack up prices that much.  There's also people that seemingly bring in very large quantities of the minifigure magazine packs to the US and resell them.  Bo-Katan, for example, was like a $25 minifigure before the magazine came out, and the cheapest ones are still in Europe, but you can still find her for like $11 from American sellers.  I actually will have a family member in Europe for an extended period of time next year, so I might have them grab some magazine promos for me while there, if any interest me during that period.

It's very odd, but BL prices in Europe seem to be way cheaper for a lot of items (not just minifigures, but sets too).  I've found quite a few sets that I would like to own and am absolutely okay paying the BL price, but the problem is that shipping is so much (like, I looked into having an Advent Calendar shipped overseas and it was going to be like $40 or something, which was more than the actual cost of the item).

I didn't realize smaller leaks were allowed there too, that's a perfect solution.

It might be different now that it's retired, but the standard 501st trooper was never too expensive. And as @Kit Figsto said, the EU polybags definately help the US prices for rarer figs, even if it is sort of it's own system as you say.

Hopefully a shock trooper shows up in 2024... I'm not looking forewords to their bricklink prices.

According to starwars.com, the ROTJ Brickheadz set is a Celebration exclusive, which makes sense. That amount of Brickheadz in one set probably wouldn’t sell well normally. (Don’t know if this has been posted before, but it’s news to me.)

How many coruscant gunships would you guys plan on getting, if at all? Would that number be different if it was a plain gunship?

As a fun side, what’s the highest number of  a single set you’ve gotten before, and what was it? Excluding battle packs.

0, or 1 if I do well financially this summer, since I do have a soft spot for the coruscant guard. Ironically, since I have a gunship mod/moc already, I wouldn't buy any if it was normal. However, I think a plain gunship would have been a better choice. Even if we stay limited to 5 figs (which is absurdly low, by the way), IMO it should have been something like: 2 clone pilots, Rex, Ahsoka (S3-5 outfit), Anakin.

I think the highest number of non battle pack sets I've gotten is 3 of the TX-225 hovertank.

3 of the 2013 AT-RT, 2 of the FO Snowspeeder, 11 501st Legion Troopers (though idk if that counts as a battlepack).

Sadly, none of them are still built (sans 2 BARCs and a 2021 AT-RT)

I'll most likely get one, doesn't really change based off the design, as I only have the room for one. Might get another alongside a second AT-TE if the opportunity arises.

That's a little odd, because the Disney 100th Anniversary Brickheadz are being sold normally, and is also $40, plus there's been two Harry Potter four packs and a Donald Duck + Huey, Dewey and Louie four pack.  One of the HP packs is just four professors, and I feel like the Endor characters would be just as popular (if not more) than them.

Is it possible that it's just an early release at Celebration and will be generally available otherwise?  I just ask because there was no other indication of it being an exclusive, but at the same time, it's not listed with the other Brickheadz on LEGO.com (it doesn't even have a "coming soon" thing, it just has a "buy" button that I didn't try and click).  The numbering also follows normal Brickheadz, have previous convention exclusives gotten special numbering?

5-10 standard ships. Then another ~10-15 more (20 total) sets for Shock Trooper platoon army building—but I’d sell the extra ships & named minifigures.

0-1 Coruscant ships, depending how it looks. No more than 6 total sets (to complete a Squad—as most scenes with Shock Troops could be re-created with a dozen copies). Since I’d expect these ships to be worth far less, I would just have to hope for a cheaper army build in option; I can only allow myself to lose so much time/money just to stack troopers.

Only the front part of the top is blue and the logo is the empire's 🤣

Btw does anyone know what Ahsoka looks like in the Ahsoka show? Like is the same outfit from Mando?

Technically the logo on Jesse’s helmet is the Republic logo, which is very close to the Empire symbol anyway.

As for Ahsoka, she’s supposed to have two outfits as far as we know. The gray outfit from Mando and BOBF, which is what the figure in the Shuttle set will be wearing, and the white robes from the Rebels epilogue since this show is overlapping with that. So assuming we get more Ahsoka sets next year (fairly likely imo), we will probably see another Ahsoka variant.

It must be a shared exclusive of some sort because I could have sworn that we’ve pictures of the set at a Lego Store. Maybe they mean it’s a timed exclusive, kinda like how you could get the Tantive IV early at Celebration 2019.

As for the leaked renders, assuming they’re real, I think that from what we can see, Fox and Hera look really good. Not sure about Vaughn but I guess the good thing is that it’ll be easy to convert those extra Vaughn figures to normal 332nd Troppers if you’re getting multiples of the set like me. You’d just need some extra torso without the little badge of his.

If the Gunship were a standard one, I’d definitely get multiples. Since it seems like it’s going to be a Coruscant Guard version, it’s going to depend on how easy it is to mod into a standard Gunship. I definitely want multiples of the new Coruscant Guard troopers but hopefully those will also be available in a battle pack eventually. Two of those and two P2 shinies in a battle pack ought to be a no brainer.

I seem to remember there being a rumor of a Jabba’s Throne room set.  Now that there’s a list of all the 2023 sets I don’t see one.  Was it a false rumor?  Delayed?

We don’t know at this point. It could have been delayed, cancelled or a false rumor, though the fact that we’re getting two dioramas instead of three like last year leads me to believe that this was actually planned at some point. A theory a lot of people are going with is that they’re waiting to release it closer to the potential UCS Sail Barge next year (so that both sets using the Jabba mold can release closer together), while others think the set got cancelled *because* of that Sail Barge. (So that people have more incentive to get the larger set.) It could also just be because there’s already so many expensive Star Wars sets coming out this year, they didn’t want to compete with themselves too much.

What we do know is that it probably wasn’t cancelled because of any potential controversy (which may have played a role in the Temple of Doom situation though the jury’s still on that one) since we did get the same location represented in Boba Fett’s Throne Room last year.

Vaughn is super lazy, they just reused the previous 332nd helmet but with holes, theres so many key differences on the helmet, like the tan stripes cody has, but with the ahsoka paint over it, or the weird line under the mouth like cody.

How do we know that image was of Vaughn's helmet? It could just be the helmet for the 3 normal 332nd troops, but using the new mould. I reckon they're still gonna do Vaughn correctly.

How would you organize a 501st army around the new specialist clones? Would they get their own squads or would they be incorporated into the plain 501st squads?

I would personally never use anything other than 9 of the same troopers in a squad so I would either go for bricklink version:
18x heavy troopers in 2 squads of 9 lead by 2 officers being used as sergeants
18x standard 501st in 2 squads of 9 lead by 2 officers being used as sergeants
4 squads would make a platoon lead by a specialist clone being used as lieutenant
Even if you get figures for $6 each that's $246 or $10.25 per month in the span of 2 years of the set being available

If you can't use bricklink and you already have a standard 501st squad of 9 buying 9 battle packs for $180 version:
18x heavy troopers in 2 squads lead by 2 officers (sergeants)
1x specialist trooper squad lead by an officer (sergeant)
1x standard 501st from 2020 lead by an officer (sergeant)
4 squads make a platoon lead by an officer being used as lieutenant with added visor or something to separate him from the regular officers
$180+ whatever you spent on the standard squad ($90 for sets or $45 figs only)

With the swamp speeder rumors/leaks there are so many possibilities if the 3 clones are standard as you can switch helmets and mix and match to either get proper leadership or get more standard 501st or have unique army of heavy 332nd or 332nd specialists while building up your standard 501st etc.
Having swamp speeder with 3 x 332nd, 501st BP, Cody, Vaughn, Rex, AT-TE with 3x 212th, Gunship with 2 shock troopers, Thorn or Fox, Venator and Republic Tank (even if the build is garbage) at the same time is insane.

I think the Coruscant Guard Gunship looks more interesting and cooler, but it means I’d only pick up 2 maximum.

If it was a standard Gunship everyone would buy more. I have no doubt about that.

So, from that perspective it’s a strange choice BUT I like it. I’d imagine the gap between the next release of a Gunship will be shorter.

I think they have made the decision based on the existence of the UCS version. They might have tried the standard version and realised they’d look too similar on shelves.

Again, not having a pilot is so disappointing. I understand they don’t have material for a Shock Trooper Pilot but they could have literally just  given us a shiny Phase II Pilot.

6 minifigures would have been perfect. Heck, the AT-TE even has a driver! The AT-TE having more Clones and more figures compared to the Gunship is super surprising.

I guess getting both Palpatine and Padme is good but so strange! It was the one thing that made me believe the rumours were false.

I’d be less mad about the Pilot if they nail these figures because they’re important named characters and we’d never get TCW versions again (and Padme barely has variants anyway which is disappointing).

And that clone gunner wasn't even in ROTS, nor TCW. Definitely a stupid decision to not add a pilot. I'm hyped for Fox and Coruscant Guard though.

Yes…only compounds my misery!

Yeah, the 5 figures are all exciting, especially those listed.

If it is indeed a Coruscant Guard Gunship, I don't think I'll buy one. If it's a regular one, I'll most certainly buy one. I still need one for my collection, and I want it to look like the 7163 version. For clarity, I don't want to mod an existing set, especially if it's that big. I'm also not gonna bricklink an older version without the accompanying figs, I want a complete set.

As for sets I have multiples of, back in the day I bought four 7201 Final Duel II's, because of the stormtrooper. I also have three 7119 Cloud Cars because I love those (new cloud car pilots don't fit in them! REEEE) and three 7140 X-wings, two without figures and I put Biggs and Wedge in them. There are also several sets I have two of, namely 4500 snowspeeder, 7134 A-wing, 7139 Ewok attack, 7667 Imperial dropship, 40558 Clone command station and I think I have two 7250 clone scout walkers.

Not I. I would buy one either way. I don't tend to buy more than one of any set, and when I do it's battlepacks or minifigs. I have recently broken this rule however as I've ordered a second dark trooper attack, it was discounted and I'd like the parts to moc an imperial/republic base backdrop, a d of course more darktroopers is nice.

But yeah I'd rather buy more different sets sets than alot of the same one.

Though with them supposedly doing the shock trooper gunship, I'd still buy a normal gunship when they come out with the next system scale one, which was probably part of the idea here.
