So I’m confused, are we getting another 501st trooper pack next year, or is the rumor that the existing battle pack will not be discontinued and instead be given the anniversary logo?

We are getting a new $20 501st Battle Pack next year, with Minifigs based on the BF2 Clone Trooper classes (Specialist, Heavy (2x), Officer).

Isn't it black? It was black in Rogue One at least. But anyway, yeah, I totally agree. That'd be a nice set to get, and could get us Saw, who's probably the most important character we've never had a figure of.

Oh maybe, I'm just going off memory tbh.

But yeah, different enough to be interesting, but similar enough that it wouldn't require too much effort on TLG's part. Hopefully they, and it, are more prominent next season so we can finally get him. At this stage he's shown up in a bigger variety of things than most other characters.

At this point it‘s just laughable we still don‘t have a Saw minifig. This guy has shown up in a movie, a live-action series, and 3(!) animated shows, and still NADA *huh*

Not sure what‘s keeping them back.

And a video game too, plus it's very likely he'll be in the sequel.

I'm on episode 8 of Andor and really like the show. I'm going to pick up Ambush on Ferrix primarily to support the show (it's not a bad little set either, and I really like the figs), and I'd be tempted to buy Luthen's starship if they ended up making one.

I thought the Tac Pod looked good but way too expensive when it got revealed, but the fact that Andor is apparently really good has me worried that I might end up grabbing it once I get around to watching it.

You realize that Andor is getting a 2nd season and that’s it regardless, right? Buy the set if you want it, but you aren’t supporting anything other than Lego & Disney’s pocketbooks, and they really aren’t in need of the extra money.

No, dude, he's talking about getting more sets for the show, not the show itself continuing.

I think Luthen’s ship is the only good choice for another set, especially if Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrera were to be included :classic: Unless there’s another interesting ship featured in the next three episodes of course

I think his shop could be a fun set. $30-40 for a small vignette with a bunch of Easter eggs (e.g. the promos of IRL Lego Store) and Mon Mothma's speeder.

Way less likely (SW tends to make ships), for sure, but it's arguably had the same or more story significance & conflict.an

Tough sell for a kids toy though, sounds more like an 18+ set idea to me

Granted, we got Unkar Plutt’s shop and the Armourer’s forge as regular playsets, but those had more to offer in terms of minifigs

Don't forget we got Thor's man-cave from Endgame. Pretty boring play-set but they made it anyway. They could make Luthen's shop in a similar vein.

Here's an off-the-wall idea for an Andor set that would be more aimed at kids, but it might work. Remember the Podracing Bucket from the year 2001 or so? Well, when Cassian goes to see Bix in the first episode she is very prominently, for an extended period of screen time, working on old jet engines. How about a $70 playset of Bix's shop, with the front desk and the radio tower ... and, it just so happens, enough jet engines and scrap parts to build a little podracer? Maybe the completed podracer wouldn't be shown in the instructions except as sections of scrap (similar to the fence and water tower in Emmet and Lucy's Dream House/Rescue Rocket from TLM2, but it could be implied in marketing.

Nah ... they'd never do that ... no back of the box builds anymore, sigh ....

But wait! Since Lego has made online-only instructions for the fourth model (whale) for the 3-in-1 deep sea creatures Creator set, and online-only instructions for the 918-style and 924-style alt builds of the Galaxy Explorer, maybe they still could.

WDYT?

Yep, I almost mentioned that one. Agreed, though: it's a tough sell w/ limited play value; they'd have to really hit it out of the park on the antiquities to make it sufficiently appealing (e.g. Starkiller's armor/minifigure, Twi'lek Kalikori totem on 1 x 2 tile, etcetera).

I think that's a great idea. It's very unlikely, like the shop - but I could see it if we had a large podrace set coming to shelves around the same time.

Lego has been trying to find synergies between shows/different media (e.g. CW Mando Starfighter w/ Bo, BB Justifier w/ Fennec) to help prop up sales & that'd be a great way of taking that strategy to the next level.

What Mandalorian Knight said: "No, dude, he's talking about getting more sets for the show, not the show itself continuing." Maybe read through it a couple of times before jumping to a conclusion lol.

So not 2023 related but I guess I never commented on it so forgive me moderators if this feels off topic.

I recently rebuilt my 2012 X-Wing and Tie Fighter sets that were disassembled in storage. I have to say that these remain IMO the best versions of their respective builds. I was honestly shocked to see the overwhelmingly positive reception the $40 X-Wing and Tie Fighter from 2021 received. I absolutely hated the way the grey stripes were done on the new Tie fighter and felt the color scheme for the X Wing was rather dull. I reason that if you have $40 you probably have $60 to spare and downsizing both builds plus the extra detailing for the engine on the 2012 X-Wing was far more visually appealing. Add to that the ugly tip of the new X wing and I feel like its not worth it. People spoke of the “cheaper” models as if it was some huge draw but honestly? It’s a $20 difference that sacrificed the aesthetic of both builds IMO.

tl;dr felt the new Episode 4 ships pale in comparison to the 2012 models and am confused by people worshipping how much more affordable they were when it was a simple $20 decrease.

thanks for clarifying! I am simultaneously excited and bummed that they are choosing not to extend the shelf life of this current 501st pack. I only have 3!!

If indeed they are revisiting old Clone Wars content, I hope we get some new Jedi. Would be a great opportunity to reintroduce Shaak Ti, and similarly  I hated the blue ship Asajj Ventress came in a few years ago, and would love to see the same figure introduced in a more desirable set.

Or non-TCW style versions of Jedi we got before (Even Piell, Eeth Koth, and Shaak Ti in particular).

While that would be an amazing thing to get in minifig form, I can‘t see them ever producing a new part just for a background detail like that. The closest thing we’ve had before was the helmet in the Mandalorian Forge, but that was just an unprinted version of the normal piece :shrug_oh_well:

I don't know what percentage of that cost the $20 decrease was for you, but in Australia, the 2021 TIE was $70 compared to the 2018 one which was $120, and the X-Wing was $80 compared to the 2017 one at $160 (literally 50%). As a TFOL with a significantly limited budget, that made a massive difference.

(Now, though, I have both the 2021 and 2017/8 TIEs and X-Wings as I managed to get my hands on the older ones for a great deal from one of my mates who "grew out of LEGO")

I suppose for Australian conversions the price decrease was appreciated, but you guys tend to get inflated prices regardless. I think design wise the 2012 Tie Fighter remains superior but taking the conversion rate for both into account I can definitely see how Australians would appreciate the cheaper models. But as an American the price decrease was a lot more subtle and not worthy of its praise from my perspective. But again, thats perspective, across the seas the price decrease seems to have been more significant and I’m happy to hear it worked for somebody.

Edit: To be honest, I was just tired of feeling like I had to pay over $100 for the most basic starfighter in the Imperial navy. Feels much more army-buildable like this. I can definitely see someone who isn't absurdly rich who's trying to get their hands on a significant amount of TIE fighters deciding to opt for the smaller, cheaper one.

Both the new 501st helmet (standard printing, but with holes) and the blue visor have leaked from the same Instagram account (check the main hashtag).

Since the 2020 pack was not a LEGO exclusive, you can probably still find a few more from Amazon/Target/Walmart/etc before the set retires.

Man, this talk of wanting Luthen's shop reminds me how badly I want a Doc Ondar's Den of Antiquitys set...

Well the 501st helmet with holes and the blue visor certainly line up with the leaks. Hopefully that means we start seeing some other stuff soon.
