I can’t see Lego making a minifig scale AT-TE so soon after the playscale one, because I can’t see it being that much bigger. The minifig scale Brickvault one is 2133 pieces, which is around the same as the current X-Wing, and a lot lower than the Gunship or Cantina.
https://www.brickvault.toys/products/at-te-minfig-scale

And that’s not even considering the fact that Brickvault MOCs usually use way more pieces than an official Lego set of the same size would.

Minifig scale is a range, not a concrete number, and judging from the less-than-canon number of seats in the brickvault version, I’d say it’s much smaller than what an official Lego model would look like

The AT-TE is nowhere near as iconic as the gunship. It could be a UCS at some point but I think there are other more likely prequel UCS.

I mean in the prequels themselves ( ignoring clone wars for the time being) we have important main characters ride in a LAAT in 2/3 movies but never is a named character in or on an AT-TE. And if we do include the clone wars then we have the AT-TE with a main character riding like 2 or 3 times compared to like half of the episodes (at a guess) for the gunship.

My guess for next prequel UCS would be N-1 (they could even make it have a frame with swappable panels so you can have Mando's one as well the standard yellow look), jedi Starfighter ( I think the episode 3 ETA 2 is more iconic so that one, plus they already did Obi-wan's episode 2 one as a UCS back in the day ( not that would or should affect their  choices today)), A MBS jedi temple ( this is one I'd definitely buy, I know somr people think they'd avoid because of the youngling scene but they wouldn't have include that scene and it'd be 18+ and) it's an important location across all 3 prequel films as well as the clone wars. An AT-TE would still be higher up the list than say a turbo tank or an arc 170 don't get me wrong, and probably about on par with a lucrehulk.

I'm hoping that if the Ahsoka show does well and if the Ghost is fairly prominent that we might get a UCS like the razor crest, maybe even with rebels figs as well as Ahsoka figs like how the UCS falcon has sequel and og trilogy figs... Maybe even an Agent Kallus fig ( no I know  not to expect that....:look:)

I can, actually. Big ticket UCS sets take well over a year or two to conceptualize, design, and distribute.

Think about this for a second. When lego was developing the Razor Crest - before Mando released, as it's a larger set- they were 100% not planning on making a UCS one. Lego, until Mando became a smash hit, was notoriously worried about SW TV after their failure with Rebels. There is no possible way that a UCS RC was in development before the release of the show. After mando became a surprise hit, they fast-tracked sets like the Brickheadz, and of course quickly made a baby yoda to throw into the system RC, but we didn't start getting a large number of mando sets until mid-2021. There is NO WAY they were planning on making one of the largest SW sets ever on Mando before it became a hit, since they weren't even comfortable making UCS on the prequels or sequels at the time.

I would think more than 1 set this time around.

Season 1 was critically acclaimed (rightly so), so I expect viewership to actually grow somewhat.

We're bound to get a Fondor Haulcraft, but that would be a 100-160 euro/dollar set at system scale. So I guess that leaves room for at least a cheaper 30-60€/$ set as well.

As we near the events of Rogue one, we'll also see more recognizable ships and vehicles, a.k.a. stuff that sells well...

IDK if we’ll get more than a Fondor. Sure Andor has some fans, but it’s not at all a show for children, which is Lego’s main audience. (Other than 18+ sets, but Lego never makes them for very new media.) The Book of Boba Fett still has 0 sets really based off the show (the Microfighter and Mando’s N1 don’t really count). And Bad Batch only has had one set per season. I wouldn’t expect much from Andor.

A Bad Batch set with some of those old/new TK Stormtroopers would be nice

Indeed! So far, TLG have been very good at giving us all the new Stormie variants, and this is our first major omission so far, apart from Purge Troopers, Incinerator Troopers, and Juggernaut Pilots.

Oh, and of course the latest variant :classic:

Hope they‘ll fill some of these gaps next year! Who knows, Ahsoka might introduce another variant, so hurry up

I actually wonder about this, do we know for sure if it was in development before the show?  It actually sort of seemed to me like they may have started development on it super late once they realized the show was going to be a hit.  I know that would be very atypical, but if I remember correctly, we got pictures of it in...February 2020, and had the option to pre-order the set that wasn't coming until like September?

Like, do we know if it was a situation where they were planning on it anyway and just revealed it early to build hype and make sure people knew "Hey, we're still making Mandalorian sets, we just need time to produce them!", or did they literally start designing it in the fall of 2019, finish in about 4 months, and then showed preliminary images in the winter of 2020?  I though it was the second one, but I might be wrong.

This has really nothing to do with your overall point, it just prompted the question in my head.

I think the AT-TE is right behind the gunship in terms of popular prequel vehicles, and last year’s playset constantly selling out for the first few weeks is testament to this.

They appear all throughout the prequels and the clone wars, and Lego could just easily include an exclusive Cody with arm printing for a figure. As an aside, minifigs don’t decide UCS sets, they’re simply a bonus. Lego‘s UCS gunship fiasco is proof enough.

I keep seeing this, and can't for the life of me figure out why the gunship was a "fiasco". Sure, having a commander instead of a pilot is annoying. For a UCS set, it's a very minor detail. What else makes it a "fiasco", the boxart?

Not necessarily, but as it was the Amazon exclusive, just as Vader's Castle was the year before it, my guess is that it definately was. We know lego was extremely jittery about the live-action shows at first due to their failure with rebels, so it makes total sense that any large mando set would be an exclusive, like vader's castle, due to the fear of it not being as popular.

Also, consider the Mando+Baby Yoda brickheadz. That's one where we can assume that they definately didn't have the set in development before the show (at least half of it, anyway), and fast-tracked production once baby yoda broke the internet. That set was $20, and they couldn't get it out until August 1st. The crest was $130 and came out just a month later. I think it's almost certain that the Crest was in development before the show as an amazon exclusive, and once baby yoda appeared, a minifig was hastily developed and thrown into the set. Actually, if I remember correctly, at some conventions or something, people noticed that the baby yoda fig was clearly a prototype, while the rest of the set was complete, which corroborates the above theory.

I mean this in terms of Lego not caring about minifigs in a UCS set as a response to people saying Lego won’t make a UCS set because there’s no good figures to pair up with the set. As if Lego didn’t make UCS sets without any figures for most of its history.

But as an aside, the outrage over the gunship fig selections were twofold: first, they held a poll for which figures the fans wanted and ignored the most popular choices, and secondly, Hans stated the clone commander “doubles” as a pilot (it does not) and far more annoyingly claimed that people only remember a “yellow clone” from that scene, hence why he was chosen as a figure.

I can see you are struggling;

Here is a hint : the model is ugly.

Now that I agree with. Figures are a minor part of UCS sets: the AT-TE "not having good figs to pair with it" is a bad argument as to why we wouldn't see one.

For the first part, I think that was fan expectation. Everyone thought it would be Cody when the set was clearly going to be based off AOTC. The second part is definately a dumb statement by the designer, but that's nothing new. (My personal favorite is "fallen order is too violent, that's why it doesn't have sets.")

I've actually never heard anyone complain about the model itself before, but if that's your complaint with the set, it's a valid one. What specifically do you dislike about the design?

lol what? Almost no one was or is complaining about the design of the actual set, if anything the only issue people had was that they wished they got a minifig-scaled version but that’s far too small to receive a UCS treatment

Top cannons being rectangular and not properly conical is what blew me off. Not a major gripe, but it is noticeable.

Lego doesn't care about patterns nor do they do this on purpose.

Facts. What gets released is a mixture of relevance and haphazardness. Sets and figures that should get made often don't, and weird niche designs do get released. Necessary redesigns get ignored in favor of the trillionth X-Wing. The UCS series is one of the strongest sub-themes Lego has ever created, and now that the OT options are closing out, they'll begin to experiment and branch out. If that so happens to coincide with a system scale release, that's just a coincidence.

Patterns left after the "remake every 5 years" was killed (due to Disney and the new movies). For those of you confused by what I'm talking about, prior to 2014, iconic vehicles were often remade approximately once every five years: Once Disney's influx of new content happened, understandably this system vanished. Now whatever we get, we get whenever.

Yeah a whole lot of nothing going on here. As for the gunship or any vehicle I don't care whether it is 100% accurate as long as it looks like what it is supposed to, and improves upon past versions of that size if it existed. (The new X-wing may be an exception) I keep going back and forth but I have one, if I didn't it would be a no brainer.

Personally I think the gunship was a start of a new trend, larger sets across more themes. I long for the days of $200 UCS, now $240, and would much rather have a $240 Gunship and Razorcrest, but people keep buying the larger and more expensive sets across multiple themes. I think the basic UCS sets are going to be fewer and fewer.

As someone who would love a Vader Tie, B-Wing and Imperial Shuttle to round out my collection, I shudder to think if/when those get made they will be larger and much more expensive than there previous incarnations.
