Perhaps not as much as you’d like, but there’s a disproportionate amount of ROTJ and Clone Wars sets this year for what is…the anniversary of ROTJ and Clone Wars Looking at the Star Wars sets for each year from 2015-today, it seems like the overlap between set choices and anniversary years (xxx7, xxx0, xxx3, xxx9, xxx2, xxx5, xxx8) is mostly circumstantial. For instance, while the only Prequel sets in 2015 were for TPM and AotC (aside from the ARC-170 and Separatist Vulture Droid Microfighters), we got 2.5 RotS sets in 2016 (Obi-Wan's Jedi Interceptor, Clone Turbo Tank, and a Homing Spider Droid with Kashyyyk Minifigs). Subsequent years follow this trend of more often getting things on non-anniversary years. 1 hour ago, Flawless Cowboy said: One quirk I’ve noticed with the tie interceptor is that it seem to be based off Gideon’s remnant version, which has a dark horizontal stripe running across the front and back of the cockpit, and it also doesn’t feature an imperial insignia on the side of the wings. Interesting! It should be easy to mod back into a regular OT version, since none of the markings in-question are prints. Quote

Agent Kallus Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) This worked, so the problem was not having a space between the square bracket and the word after the opener and before the closer. Edited April 22, 2023 by Agent Kallus Quote

Spoiler I am fairly sure that Shin is not going to be a Canon version of Mara Jade, between what is known about Baylan from leaks and the fact that Lucas never liked the idea of Luke being married (IIRC) . As for her ship, the cockpit appears to be the right shape, but if that is all that we are going on, it could just as easily be an A-wing. I suspect that her ship (also seen flown by the Inquisitor, or at least a ship of the same class) will be a new design (or at least new to Canon), since she and Baylan are being supplied by Thrawn. You’re right, I suppose a more correct way of putting it would be, Lego cares about anniversaries if they go out of their way to generate branding for it, which traditionally was reserved only for ESB and for the 20th anniversary of Lego Star Wars, but I think this year indicates a greater willingness to acknowledge other anniversaries. Hopefully this trend continues for other movies and shows. Edited April 22, 2023 by Flawless Cowboy Quote
Kaijumeister Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) I’ve realised what’s irked me the most about the Mandalorian Season 3 sets, which is the whole ‘Mando Mania’ approach with Lucasfilm. We’ve seen that when Chapter [X] of the season premieres, Lego is allowed to reveal a set based on said episode during the following week’s Mando Mania showcase. On paper it’s a great idea to synchronise the reveal of a set with the content it’s based on, but then what’s the point of Lucasfilm still playing coy with what they share with Lego? One would think that if Lego are to wait until an episode premieres for a corresponding set reveal, that set would be accurate. But we see with the Spider Tank and Fang Fighter vs. TIE Interceptor that they are still riddled with inaccuracies and omissions. Of course, the majority of the S3 sets leaked before their official reveals anyway, and as it stands at least Lego is doing relevant merchandise for the show as opposed to mostly relying on new TBoBF merchandise like Hasbro are. Can’t fault licensees when they don’t receive enough material to work with, so I’m not surprised the LSW team admitted they weren’t privy to the new villain designs for the final couple of episodes. I feel like there’s two levels to this, though. One is not giving the designers enough for the sets they are producing (which is probably why the Spider Tank doesn’t come with the Bionicle due, or why the minifigures for the TIE vs. Fang Fighter are a little odd), but with regards to your point about villains, I think that part sort of falls into another category of “things that SW wants to wait on to avoid spoiling for anyone.” Like, last year they definitely waited deliberately for any Luke merch, since that was a huge spoiler. Admittedly I don’t think this season’s “version” of that was as spoiler-y (basically just Gideon being alive and his Mandalorian armor I guess), but I can see why they wanted to keep that secret and give people time to watch the show before any merch comes out. Like, if they had done the normal reveal on the Luke set and someone was a few weeks behind on the show, that would’ve been a massive spoiler, which is one more place that someone could have the reveal ruined for them. omegabadbatch Posted April 23, 2023 Posted April 23, 2023 for me vader shouldnt be in tie bomber. Instead of him I would prefer stormtrooper or another officer with black uniform. Do you agree? Quote

Also she’s a Vice Admiral in Lego, which is her rank during Episode V, while she’s an Admiral at Endor. 6 hours ago, ARC2149Nova said: Fixed for you. (Nothing against Rae Sloane) We do really need Ozzel and an updated Piett, although I’m definitely very glad we got Sloane, since she’s a book character and a lot less likely to show up in future sets. While Ozzel and Piett are much more likely, since they were actually in the movie. One of them being included instead of Vader would probably have been better though. 3 hours ago, Gontron said: The Tie Bomber feels closer to a Squadrons set given it has Rae Sloane in it. Not really, since Sloane is a higher rank and has greying hair in Squadrons, and Vader was dead by that point. It’s definitely an Empire Strikes Back set. Quote

P2 clones are the only helmet that’s had 3 different moulds for the same helmet, and that’s a special circumstance, since the 3rd one is just to include the helmet holes. Plus if it were a new helmet the people who have seen the set would’ve said so. Quote

thebricksbear Posted April 24, 2023 Posted April 24, 2023 Do we think the explosion of SW Rebels popularity is enough to warrant a new set(s)? I know there's allegedly a version of the ghost with characters from Ahsoka coming, but I'd love to see sets around the show again. I hope thats not impossible given we still get Clone Wars sets. As much as I wish we would get more, there's just too much content out there, and even with Rebels being more popular than it was during it's run, I don't think we'll see anything. Ahsoka will push it's popularity forewards, but at the same time we're already getting the ghost with it like you said. At the most, I could see a small set, or maybe something otherwise very visibly SW like a TIE defender, with Ezra and Kanan thrown in. I also think 2024 will bring us a Phantom 2, though I'd guess it'll be ahsoka based. 5 hours ago, omegabadbatch said: atleast I would like stormtrooper commander with orange pouldron in mech instead of regular stormtrooper As much as I'd love this, I doubt it'll happen. Lego seems to be avoiding cloth when they can, at least for the kamas, so I can't see them going out of their way to throw in a pauldron. Quote
