I don’t think Lego is counting on the mechs selling much at all with reasonable Lego fans who are making value judgements based on figs. They’re just there for people who think, “I recognize that as Star Wars and is a cheap-ish Lego set, I’m going to buy that for a child”. Hence why they went with the character designs that are most recognizable as Star Wars to most people. Quote

The pacing was all over the place, the plot did not go at all like I expected or hoped. It fealt like 2 and a half seasons of buildup to a particular outcome that did not happen and pretty much every dangling plot line got wrapped up by the end in a rush and we were left with a return to the status quo. I'm really disappointed in Jon and Dave this time. I would love to know what happened behind the scenes because this was not even remotely up to the standard of season 2. This is all spot-on and is exactly the way I've been feeling about this season. After Season 2, it feels like they have reset just about everything to the status quo in the most lackluster ways and the big event that should have been the culmination of the entire series ended up feeling so rushed and easily achieved in the last two episodes of this most recent season. I'm at the point where I still love the characters and the first two seasons, but my love for the series itself, and excitement for future seasons, has definitely waned by quite a bit. I remember one of the reliable Star Wars leakers had heard about production problems on the set of this and Skeleton Crew, which makes me even more nervous for that series. I'm still very excited for Ahsoka though (production reportedly went smoothly on that one), and it'll be nice to be getting more shows outside of the "Mando-verse" next year with The Acolyte, Andor season 2 and more Star Wars animation goodness. And as for the other set ideas you mentioned, I'm also surprised that we still haven't gotten Cobb Vanth's Speeder. That would just be an easy set to make. I think we could get a set based on TBOBF finale ahead of the rumored Season 2, sort of like how Boba's Throne Room was technically based on the Mando Season 2 post-credits scene and not TBOBF itself. 11 hours ago, bricksandabear said: Do we think the explosion of SW Rebels popularity is enough to warrant a new set(s)? I know there's allegedly a version of the ghost with characters from Ahsoka coming, but I'd love to see sets around the show again. I hope thats not impossible given we still get Clone Wars sets. Probably not unfortunately, unless it's just Lego throwing some of the characters into other OT-related sets. Maybe if we're lucky, we could get specific ship variations from Rebels like the B-Wing Prototype or Hera's X-Wing, but those seem unlikely. I'd love a new TIE Defender though and I don't think it's implausible that we could get a Rebels version at some point. Lego and the other toy companies are probably more worried about merchandise of the Rebels characters and vehicles based on the more-current Ahsoka series, which means no new Kanans anytime soon most likely. (To be fair, he at least got his two main outfits represented in Lego form, whereas the other characters never got their S3/S4 looks.) Next year is the 10th anniversary of Rebels so maybe we can get a few little goodies, but as we've discussed on this board many times, Lego is very inconsistent with how they treat anniversaries. And Lego in particular is probably still really wary of Rebels after how poorly the sets did initially but don't get me started on that again. Quote

I've seen speculation that as Mando is a foundling he comes from a culture that uses the tradition of family name/first name, as opposed to Mandalorian culture which puts the family name last e.g. Kryze, Vizsla, and the Armourer was acknowledging this when she gave Grogu his full name. Ahsoka will push it's popularity forewards, but at the same time we're already getting the ghost with it like you said. At the most, I could see a small set, or maybe something otherwise very visibly SW like a TIE defender, with Ezra and Kanan thrown in. I also think 2024 will bring us a Phantom 2, though I'd guess it'll be ahsoka based. As much as I'd love this, I doubt it'll happen. Lego seems to be avoiding cloth when they can, at least for the kamas, so I can't see them going out of their way to throw in a pauldron. Definitely agree with the sentiment about the rebels set but we should see some of the ships and characters over the next year and a half because of other Mandoverse appearances. On the question of cloth and those types of pieces for troops, what are the chances around Rex getting a proper cloth kama in the Venator. It is UCS so I'd hope they won't cheap out but it does feel like it might happen. The last cloth kama I can remember was in the MBS Cantina with those troops but that was a couple of years back. From what I've noticed they only seem to be phasing out cloth if its used on the leg pieces. My guess is because of it limiting the figure's ability to interact with the sets. Cloth pieces used on the neck joints are still being used across different themes as often as they were before. Quote

Kit Figsto Posted April 25, 2023 Posted April 25, 2023 I think it’s possible that we get some Rebels sets if Ahsoka is successful, but probably more things that are Ahsoka-adjacent, if that makes sense? Like, when Mando S2 was out, we got the Mandalorian fighter, which was a Clone Wars set, but had some tie-ins to Mando (even before the Gauntlet was prominently featured, since it was technically in S2, but only just barely). I could see something like that if the Ahsoka show ends up being popular, where they put out some sort of Rebels vehicle or something. Quote

Totally agree. We'll see some rebels material due to it's appearance in mandoverse. Hmm. I'd say he gets a cloth Pauldron (That's what you meant by the cantina troops, right?), but I wouldn't be surprised if instead of a cloth kama he had dual-molded legs with printing to make the kama. It wouldn't look as awful as the kama in the 2023 501st pack but I'd still prefer a cloth one. 52 minutes ago, wesker said: From what I've noticed they only seem to be phasing out cloth if its used on the leg pieces. We're still getting capes, yeah, but I'm too cynical to believe the kamas "limited the figure's ability to interact with the sets". They had what, 6 years of cloth kamas to figure that out? I think the printing is just cheaper than adding in the cloth part. Quote

I assume in that instance it was an artistic decision rather than a cost cutting measure. While I prefer the cloth pieces, the printed ponchos on the latest figures do look more visually accurate to how the characters appeared in the film compared to the one Leia had in 2015. A similar example can be seen with the newest Elrond and Maleficent figures ditching their capes to better resemble their movie counterparts. What lets the two Endor figures down is the half assed attempt at the legs. Both characters really needed to have dual molding. Without it they both look unfinished. Its especially frustrating in Leia's case as they already have the right color combination available for dual molding through Legolas. Quote

I believe Jedi: Survivor was originally rumored to be releasing last fall so that BD-1 was probably planned to be a tie-in with the new game at some point in development. Hence why we're getting nothing this year, BD-1 was most likely supposed to be the tie-in set. I'm right there with you though; now that we're getting a Ghost remake and a new Gunship this year, the Mantis is probably at the top of my set wishlist now. Thank you for the responses ☺️, so nothing is rumoured or anything yet, that is a shame 😔. Now would've been our best shot as it won't be this relevant again (unless there's a third game at some point). But you say it could still come next year? I hope so, I'd like that. I am tempted by the BD-1 but I mostly stick to minifig compatible stuff. I have seen so cool MOCs of it that I could try to recreate but I'd much rather an official set as it woukd cost less and come with new minifigs of Cal and the crew. So to sum up, expect nothing, BD-1 was the tie in, but you never know it could still happen? -J.T.i.m.G Quote
