Tariq j Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Yavin looks like the sort of things you'd need at least 4 or 5 of to feel "complete". The figure range looks pretty good but I wish they'd done it as a proper MBS set. Quote
Displayedaction Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 (edited) Yea,need to see photos of the interior but from the looks of it the main rooms look to be small or squished from this angle of yavin.I was worried it was going to be just the doorway and little more at this price, the way it’s structured is like vaders castle which I thought was just okay.I’ll pass until it’s half off.Ideally this should be a MBS to get the outside and inside right. omegabadbatch Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 I think next year battlepack wont be with clones beacuse 2 clones battlepack will still be at that time Quote
brimbolet Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 Yavin base looks pretty simple, but it's decent; the tree is a joke of course. But the Y-wing with the Speed Champions cockpit is absolutely disappointing... it would have been so much better to make it a separate set close to scale with the current TIE bomber/X-wing. But fortunately I've the Rogue One version. A 35% price increase from January for a regular battlepack is just shocking... the swamp speeder hasn't even 100 small plastic pieces and it's 27€ ! Quote

Promobricks is saying that it is $21: Quote Although the price in the catalog is stated at 26.99 euros, as we have learned from dealer circles, LEGO is said to have recently reduced the MSRP to 20.99 euros. Apparently, Billund has also noticed that the fans are not willing to pay 10 euros more for a Battle Pack within a few years. Quote

QuiggoldsPegLeg Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 The Massassi Temple looks great. A must-buy for me for sure. And I love Yoda’s Starfighter. My wallet’s going to be really hurting with these and the Ahsoka Sets coming out in the fall. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 The Yavin IV base has been high on my most-wanted list, and this looks passable from what we can see so far. Still…I was expecting it to be a bit bigger. The MBS treatment with a selection of both Rogue One and ANH minifigs would have been a knockout. Quote
Duke27 Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 (edited) According to the information from Target, the price of 332 battlepack is $19.99. At some point this battlepack is better than 501 battlepack for $30 Edited May 19, 2023 by Duke27 Quote
wesker Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 I was expecting Yoda's Starfighter to have an underwhelming minifigure selection, but could they have at least improved upon the build over the last version? I agree with those saying Yavin looks like a 4+ set. Its about time its finally getting represented but I feel they definitely could've done more with the build. Nice to finally be getting Red Leader as a minifigure along with a darker recolor of Padme's Tatooine hairpiece for Leia but the best figure definitely has to be the new Luke Skywalker! Shame C-3PO isn't the dual molded version. The swamp speeder looks tiny but at the end of the day the set is all about the clones. Hopefully we get an official reveal of these sets in the next week or so. Quote

That recolor of Padme’s hair piece will at least be useful for making an accurate TPM Padme (no clue why they made that hair in light brown in the first place) but that Yavin Leia overall is just awful. Flawless Cowboy Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 I honestly wouldn’t mind if we dropped a UCS set every two years for an MBS. Star Wars is home to to many rich locations to be this ignored. Quote

MaximillianRebo Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Putting the Yavin set on the same page of the catalogue as the 4+ set does it no favours, especially with that tree. With the other trees that have been done in the botanical line and the Medieval Blacksmith there are much better official options out there; I guess end of the day it had to serve as a base for the lookout tower. No surprise the whole thing is done in the same style as Vader's Castle, hence why the Y-Wing looks the way it does. Will wait for more photos, especially from the back; hopefully the control room and throne room look decent (although there won't be much space at the top for much more than a dais for the medal ceremony). The Stud Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 The mech builds aren't as terrible as I was expecting, but they're still absolute wastes. Microfighters essentially fill the same niche and are actually relevant to Star Wars. I already have multiples of the newer Vader, I have the updated Stormies from the Trash Compacter (which were an unnecessary update in the first place) and I have UCS Slave 1 Boba Fett so no real need to get this new one, even if it looks nice. As for the new leaks: Yoda's Starfighter is an absolutely useless remake. It's not a ship with much screen time and it adds nothing new that the original model didn't already offer besides some minor changes to the build. It's a cheap way for people to get Yoda and R2 but that's about all it has going for it. I hate to say it, but I also feel that the Yavin IV Rebel Base looks <insert that tiresome argument>. As simplistic as it is, I don't necessarily hate the build though that tree looks atrocious. The chibi Y-Wing looks good, though the Astromech looks somewhat oversized for the build. It takes away from the piece count of the actual base though, so I kinda wish they did it as its own set instead of the pointless Yoda set. The minifigure selection is fantastic however; it's great to get an updated Medal Ceremony Leia, as well as Red and Gold Leader. I love that Luke and Han's medals are seperate pieces; it's nice that you can have Luke in his main outfit from the canon comics in between ANH and ESB. Despite my problems with the set, I still want to get it but definitely not without a significant discount or usage of VIP points. The Ahsoka Trooper battle pack is about what I expected. Glad to see it'll be cheaper than we expected. Vaughn barely looks like the character in the show but I still really like the set overall. I plan to get multiples when they're on sale. Overall, somewhat of a mediocre lineup for August but September will be very exciting. I can't wait to see those Ahsoka sets. Quote
NoOneOfImportance Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Jedi Starfighters sell. That's the fact of it for the past many years, and for a while we were getting a Starfighter a year just because of that. Same with this case. While it isn't for a lot of us, it has Yoda and R2, which will sell it for enough kids. Quote
ARC2149Nova Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 I will probably get the Yavin IV temple. Massive fan of the Rebel Pilots, so Garven Dreis and Jon "Dutch" Vander (going with his government name this time LEGO ?) will make fine additions to my collection (I don't have Gold Leader yet). Only gripe is that we didn't get Davish Krail (New Helmet) or Tiree (Snowspeeder Microfighter Pilot's Helmet). One RFT is weak, but then again, how would they explain the same dude appearing twice (Make a new headprint? What do you think this is? ). C-3PO's silver boot print is donkey, but expected. Luke, and Red Leader are the highlights for sure. Not sure why leaks said Crix Madine over the obvious Dodonna, but now the 2021 X-Wing has a net total of 0 exclusive figures (which is fine). R2-BHD will be nice to get again outside the UCS, Leia's fine, but 2012 did it better imo. Ground Crew is lazy, and best part of the aforementioned RFT is his accessories. The build isn't bad, don't care about an out-of-scale Y-Wing as I own the RO version, but all in all, 6/10. Not bad, not great. Average. The other two are just I really hate LEGO sometimes (kidding). The swamp speeder is the biggest "bruh moment" of the year (though the actual figures are nice) and Vaughn is just It's truly the thought that counts. Imagine if we actually had to pay $25+ for that... I'm slightly angered by the fact that Yoda's Starfighter was not his Battlefront II version, but this makes it easier to skip so win-win. The mechs don't seem that bad by comparison. 5 hours ago, Hhalcyon said: To whomever was adament that the swamp speeder wasn't going to be blue:AHAAAAAAA TOLD YOU I legit dug out my 2014 ISP (haven't built that thing in years) in preparation for Lego's shenanigans. It looks like there is some more stuff on the other side that we cannot see yet. Almost like a briefing room or something. And I am guessing there may be some things in the top part of the pyramid as well. It looks like the left side has a viewing screen, so I'm assuming that's going to be the room where the Rebel command were monitoring the Battle of Yavin, while the other side looks like it's the room where the pilots get briefed. I'm assuming that the top of the pyramid will be where the awards hall is, since Leia/Han/Luke are based on that scene and it'd be a pretty glaring omission. Plus, I don't really know what else there is to include in the set, since the only rooms we really see in the base are those three plus the hangar, which I assume will have some extra details at the ground level. I really like the midi Y-wing, but I agree that the Speed Champions cockpit piece is an odd choice. Not blown away by any of these. The mechs are fine, the Starfighter is a very uninteresting choice. I can sort of see why they went with Yoda; of the characters to fly these Eta-2 style ships, Anakin's just had one, Obi-Wan already has a Delta on shelves, and the only other main characters to fly one are Yoda and Ahsoka. Yoda is probably more familiar to kids than Ahsoka, but I would still rather have seen hers. I do like the design of the swamp speeder with those rounded quarter-dome pieces, so I might BL myself a dark red one. I'm all 501st-ed out so no interest in getting the set though. Will wait and see what other pictures of Yavin reveal, but I don't think it'll sway me either way. Design-wise the tree is the only thing that puts me off, otherwise I think they did a decent job. On the plus side, this does make it easier to save money for some of this year's other propositions. Edited May 20, 2023 by TeddytheSpoon Quote
CF Mitch Posted May 20, 2023 Posted May 20, 2023 Wow, the Yavin 4 set actually looks rather nice! Although it's a bit <insert that tiresome argument>, I like the general look of it, and the minfigures seem great, too. I'll wait for better pictures and some of the interior, before I make a decision to buy it or not. Also, can anyone tell the price? It looks like 169,99 to me, but... Regards, Mitch Quote
