Been a minute since I been on.

HQ pics don't really change my mind a whole lot for summer wave.

I am excited to see what the fall brings with Ghost, Gunship, and Venator. Any idea when we should start to some leaks/more info around that?

Also, has it been revealed if the Ghost will include the Phantom? For the piece count and price I would certainly hope its there considering it was in the trailer also.

I guess the Sheev gives more credibility to the gunship. Unless we mean Emperor Palpatine version? Sheev to me means more prequel variety.

It's the emperor. He's never addressed as Sheev in the films or shows at all, I believe, though technically the Aftermath novels that first call him Sheev do so in a flashback taking place between eps 1 and 2.

Seriously though, this is an EXCELLENT figure selection. Usually (excluding the holiday figs) it's a desirable fig or two and then garbage for the others, but the three non-holiday figs on the box are all very desirable, what with it being a clone only in a $140 set, a main character only in a $170 set, and another major character only in an $80 diorama. (Another side note: if anyone plays Galaxy of Heroes, the next Galactic Legend is rumored to be Endor Leia, so it's funny to me that she's in a couple sets this year after going 8 years without a fig)

Official images definitely make me like the Clone pack a lot more. I don't get why people hate this. Especially the Vaughan figure, like sure, it's inaccurate, but just take off the visor and you have a 4th-ish Ahsoka clone.

Yavin is as I expected, barebones. Not a fan. Yoda's fighter is cute and better than I thought it'd be, but I'm still gonna pass on it. Cant wait for the September sets, those I'm really looking forward to seeing.

Only reason I hate it is the price, it's a perfect $15 battle pack. $21 is overpriced IMO, I think the other 501st battle pack this year was better (Imagine going back and telling someone in 2019 we'd have 3 501st battle packs by 2023)

I thought Yavin actually had a fair amount of depth to it rather than being a pure facade like lots of lego buildings. It's definately a playset, not an MBS set, but I'm still hoping to get my hands on it.

Yoda's fighter continues to be an insane choice and one of the few times I've fullheartedly believed something is a complete waste of a set slot. It brings nothing new to the table, it's not a cheap way to obtain otherwise hard-to-get characters, it's not an iconic vehicle, there's nothing there.

I really do like that advent calendar. I think this is the first time one'll be a day 1 buy for me as opposed to waiting for sales post-christmas. The figs are excellent and I love that we're getting a fair number of figure-scaled builds in this one that can be used outside the context of the calendar.

That might be one of the best advent calendars in a long time. Definitely getting it. Yoda’s Interceptor is a huge improvement and I actually really want it. Help me.

The swamp speeder looks better than I initially thought but wow is Vaughn lazy. Torso is fine but he really needed a unique helmet print. Still getting it though, great to get a bunch of 332nd troops.

I love Yavin. It's classic playset vibes. It has all the important different rooms cooked in, a fun small version of a ship, all the important characters (and well done to boot). I might not get it since it's still a bit too big/expensive for me, and I don't personally care about Yavin much, but I love the set and its existence.

The other sets, whatever. I'm sick of 501st now even if these have different helmets. I always wanted more than my lonely one, but don't need a whole squad of them. I would love some more actually varied and different clones (like we're hopefully getting with the gunship).

Advent Calendar is the best of the August wave!

332nd Battle Pack would have been good - shame, the figures are terrible imo. That black line is so off-putting.

Yoda’s Starfighter - Official images help the set, but then again it just makes me want Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor more and more. Hands down one of the worst choices I’ve seen in recent years given the alternative!

Yavin Base - I actually really like the style of these sets - they give me hope for other sets like this E.g., Petranaki Arena. But, play features and figures aside, the price for this set is outrageous. I do think it lacks another Fleet Trooper, too. Not the worst, but feels a little incomplete.

While I do like the black line better than no black line, it does look awfully thick here. Then again, these look like renders, so I'll wait until actual images to judge the print quality (flashbacks to 212th helmet printing)

If you look on reddit and instagram you can find lifestyle pics of the 332nd Troopers and they don't have the brow. It seems to be a box issue.

The advent calendar has only 5 minifigures and one B1 right? And apart from Leia and Omega the selction is pretty meh. The price is insane. Easy pass for me.

There is a christmas themed pit droid too  which looks quite fun and has some useful pieces

Only 5 minifigures, sure, but it seems to me that LEGO normally just goes by figures in general, droids and such included. That gives us a total of 8, which I think is pretty great.

I never valued brickbuild droids much as one can build hundreds of them just using random parts. Like the gonk droids that come with the official sets. I mean they are present on the box in the figure line-up but they are nowhere close a minifig. I have a collection of random gonks and i love gonk droids in general but they are no substitution for a minifig.

But i guess that comes down to ones preferences (like always ). I also dislike christmas themed minifigures as they often are not usable in the natural habitats. The white christmas Ewok? :pir_laugh2: And while ugly sweaters are funny and easily fit in some kind of city setting, or any theme where humans wear normal clothing like Harry Potter i feel like in Star Wars it is just a wasted opportunity to get a good minifig :shrug_confused:

The 332nd Battle Pack is nice enough, but strikes me as wholly unnecessary given the deluge of 501st content we’ve received lately. It’s quite disgusting that Lego genuinely were going to price it even higher before backtracking, but I’m glad someone making these decisions had enough sense. Really though, a small 332nd vs Mauldolorians set with Rex would’ve been much better than this.

Yavin IV is great for what it is, but I still maintain that Lego could have afforded to give it a couple of hundred more pieces to beef up the temple, especially at that price point. Really cool that the medal pieces are printed though! Will probably buy on discount.

Yoda’s Starfighter is unexpectedly a massive upgrade over the original. The wings are closer to the body, the cockpit shaping is more stout yet sleek, and the overall profile of the ship is more compact compared to the 2017 predecessor. It’s a great improvement all in all compared to how small the incremental changes to Jedi Starfighters typically are. I still question why this set of all sets had to be made (especially as Yoda’s torso print is even slightly different), and a third minifigure would’ve made this a must-buy.

But anyway, September is where the great stuff is at. I sincerely hope that wave won’t be an example of set names and descriptions being much better than what we actually get.

Personally I don't mind the brick-built droids - they can be parted out quite easily if not required, and I do like the Christmas pit droid in this year's calendar even if it is just a recolour. That said, I could do with a more variety beyond the GNK droids. It might be recency bias but I feel like we've had an awful lot of gonks in advent calendars...

Mechs...I do like them but pass. Not for me.
Yavin IV: Love the figures, but the set is just not doing it for me.
332nd BP: I really like it but the figures could be better and the price...will get 1, maybe 2.
Advent Calendar: Really like this one (like last years). Hesitant to get it though.
Yoda Starfighter: Nope. Feel like this should have been a BB V-Wing. It's nice but I never liked that ship and don't understand why it is here.

I'm very glad to see the R2 in Yoda’s Starfighter has back printing. I was hoping it would. The set is still really over-priced but I can't deny how much I love the improvements to the design, especially the shaping around the sides. I also really appreciate that the wings will stop in the right position.

The Swamp Speeder looks better and better.

The advent calendar is definitely the best we've had in years imho. Absolutely getting it. I love the figure selection, I'm happy to see a STAP again and I like the Christmas Pit Droid. Also, while the reindeer GNK is neat, I can't be the only one who is sick to death of GNK droids. The meme has long overstayed its welcome.

Yavin 4 looks much better than I initially thought but it's still low on my list sonce I'm a way bigger prequel/Clone Wars era fan.

The Advent calendar looks quite good actually. I could've done without Omega and since I also have several 212th clones I don't 'need' any more of those, but all in all it's a fun and pretty balanced selection. Also funny to see Palps in Christmas attire

The side builds look good too. And I hope that the inclusion of several separatist vehicles and Turbo Tank are good omens of what to expect from the 2024 sets.

I like the 332nd battle pack, should have been cheaper but still something I'll get for sure at some point.

Yoda's Starfighter is fine but as others have said it seems wholly pointless. Even if it had to be Yoda's, they could've thrown in someone else a little more interesting with him.

Yavin is more mixed for me. The best way I can describe it is cute; it's just a fun looking set, though I'd have preferred if the front was a little more fleshed out. I also really question why they didn't include more space to recreate the last scene of A New Hope, that seems like an obvious choice (I think that part where Luke and Han are standing on the back is supposed to be it, but it's tiny). If this set were around $100 I probably would get it, but at that price I am not sure I will. Even with discounts it is gonna feel like a lot for what you get.

The new Advent Calendar is actually pretty exciting for me. It's mostly just because I want Omega, but the other figs look nice too.
