LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I’ve had tons of missing pieces in lego sets over the last two years. It’s happened in at least four sets

I don't recall anything major, but I think I have been missing a few spare parts recently. I suspect Lego's QA must have taken a hit during the pandemic, and they either were unable or didn't care to get it back up to snuff.

Regarding the UCS Venator... I may be the only person here, but I was looking forward to TCW Yularen. It is the first time we get him, and I am sorry to say I am disappointed.

First, there are short-comings like the lack of arm-printing (he should have double cuff bands in black on each lower sleeve), the belt being plain wrong (there should be no stud to the right of the buckle), and the missing shoulder straps.

Then, although admittedly subjective, the facial expression is not exactly what I would wish for such a distinguished/stuffy character, and overall there is not as much resemblence as there should be. A stoic or slightly annoyed look would have helped a lot, I guess.

 

Obviously that is nitpicking. And if it was in a 30€ playset I would not mind, and I would just be happy to finally have a Republican navy officers. I have been waiting for them ever since TCW first aired.

But we are talking about the uppermost tier product of the industry leading premium producer, not intended to be for children at all but for adults with very deep pockets. And it needs to be judged as such. Of course one might argue the minifigs are not the focus. True. Does not change that if minifigs are added to such a set, they should be perfection.

 

That said, I am still glad to finally have TCW Yularen.

In all my years of buying LEGO (15+), I've had this happen a grand total of twice, and one was an AFOL designer program set with crap QC. So I would count yourself lucky!

In all seriousness, I imagine it's something quite easily sorted by TLG customer service.

IF these rumors are true I REALLY REALLY hope Lego finally listens about the Kama issues but even more importantly that they FINALLY give us something Droid Related or at a MINIMUM B2’s or Commandos like no more plain B1’s till we get the B1 Officers remade/B2’s and Commanders. 
 

As for what the Clones should be I’m for anything that is NOT 501st/Kashyyyk I would personally prefer Shock Troopers (with Commander Thorn) or 327th Troopers with Bly but I’m open to anything.

501st** battle pack #4 confirmed?

If its a droid vehicle like a Hailfire or its shinies (P1 or P2) or its B2s I might get it, but oh my god.

Pictures of the Millennium Falcon holiday set can be found in the usual place, a tiny bit better quality than usual. It’s mainly just the seating area of the Falcon with the bench for dejarik and the hallway entrance. Hopefully it includes the dejarik board, but there is a Life Day feast on the table instead, as well as decorative lights and a tree. Rey finally has a yellow lightsaber, and Finn has a blue one, so that’s neat, though it’s hard to make out their sweaters. Chewie, BB-8, and the Porg are the same. Overall, it’s a cute holiday display piece, but probably not worth $40.

The holiday set is really cute! Nice to have  Rey, Finn, BB-8, and a Porg in a set again, it’s been a while  Too bad the OT, PT, and ST all share the same Vader boxart. I would’ve loved to see ST-specific boxart. Not really that surprising though since Obi‘s JF last year also had the Vader boxart (which the AT-TE should‘ve had too as a PT set, but I digress).

In regards to the rumours: the 4+ ship sounds neat and hopefully includes the missing main characters. The supersized BP has quite some potential! However, I hope this is not the only BP on the menu

Please be wary of anything lifebricks puts out as a "rumor". The guy is a clickbait expert at this point and constantly makes predictions that turn out to be nothing. If he does have a real source for this one, it's possible, but at this point I wouldn't put any stock in what he says until a reliable leaker confirms it.

Could they? I mean seriously what kind of figures from the 501st have they not done. The pessimist in me I could see them redoing the 2020 set with the new helmets. 
 

honestly if it’s true that it  is another battle pack it has to be another legion apart from the 501st. I mean I’d take just plain white P2 clones at this point

That would actually be pretty great. It's a neat ship design and assuming we would get Nubs along with Nash and her little droid. Of course it'll definitely be another wildly overpriced 4+ set unfortunately.

Ive only seen the one leaked image so I don't know if it's been shown yet or not but maybe he has a 2nd face with a more appropriate expression? I too was disappointed that he doesn't have a more inquisitive expression as he often had(usually in response to an Anakin plan) but then again I was never going to afford this set anyway. All I want is for the new Rex to show up in a cheaper set in a year or too just with a different head underneath. 

 

I am absolutely down for more Clone Wars bps though I hope we get a new legion this time. I could easily see them doing Shock Troopers to pair with the new Gunship but I would vastly prefer Star Core, Galactic Marines or Wolfpack. As for the rumor of new Super Battlw Droids, that would be incredible. It's been years since we've had any and the old ones I have are so loose. Of course, we are loooong overdue for a proper droid bp. As far as builds go, I really, really want to get a Crab Droid. It seems like such a no-brainer at a bp price poi t and piece count, and would be so much more valuable for army building than a downsized cannon or yet another AT-RT(as much as I absolutely love the AT-RT) or BARC Speeder. Plus, a Crab Droid would help balance things out since the bp is ru.ored to only include 2 Super Battle Droids. 

The only way I would be okay with another 501st bp is if it came with named troops like 5s, Echo, Jessie, etc(especially if 5s and Echo are in their ARC Trooper gear). Watch them throw the new Rex in there, that would actually make me really happy and it would be really funny to watch the meltdown of collectors who would want the UCS Venator Rex to remain exclusive for their own selfish reasons.

Agreed - Lifebricks is decidedly not reliable! That said, I would love to see a 212th pack (2x Regular, 1x Specialist, 1x Airborne) with a crab droid.

I think it probably is just a version name rather than surname, like (Sweater) or (Holiday special) or something.

Also if we getting another clone BP I wanna see plain P2s and commandos.

It’s funny that this is the first way we’re getting Rey’s yellow blade. 
 

From the image the blade does look a little weird, and I’m worried it might be trans neon green rather than trans yellow. Although that could just be the blurry quality making it look weird. 
 

The trans yellow 4L bar has only ever appeared in one set back in 2015, although fortunately it isn’t prohibitively expensive on bricklink.

I haven't seen any reliable rumors about the ship yet. The rumors I have seen say "may," "might," and "likely" a lot. Good indicators of a false leak as they can always say they warned everyone that it "might" not have been real. It could be a set, but I'd wait for further confirmation before believing the rumor.

Here's a good example of a COMPLETELY FAKE AND FALSE LEAK, "We may be getting a Resistance set next year. It would likely be the Fireball and might include Yeager." Notice how that has zero substance. But it's great clickbait.

As you say it’s pretty affordable second hand but I can’t believe they made the piece then never used it in another set ever. Luckily I have that set and Sinestro didn’t need the piece as much as my Rey did!

Shock, 327th, or 212th would all get me to buy a copy, but at this point I'm really starting to get annoyed with this. Since august 2020, we've had 9 battle pack type sets- and that's being generous with some of the non-clone sets, and 5 have been clone troopers. That's insane. (Non-clone: hoth rebels, snowtroopers, dark troopers/luke, trexler marauder imps. Clone: 501st, 501st specialist, 332nd (fanta 501st...), 187th, geonosis)

Clones should not be the majority of battle packs. This is absurd.

B2s hinted at by Renown, but I agree with the wider point. Too many clone packs.

Yeah. Or rebels, or first order, or mandalorians, or scoundrels...

I'm glad lego listened and got us clones, but they're going overboard. Clones don't need to be EVERY SINGLE BATTLE PACK.

Yeah, but those would kind of suck for a battle pack. An arc trooper or two in an otherwise generic 501st pack would be fine, but troopers you only have one of in the entire army? defeats the purpose.
