Mini ARC-170 is miles out.

Yeah I figured that was absolute BS. MandR quoted LB on that who said it was his guess. How quickly information gets skewed

When and if the Barge is released, it won't be $230 (or likely anything close to it).

What are you basing this comment off of? I know the leak suggested it would be larger by piece count, but the picture looked no where close to that.

Also, who would really buy a $650 Sail Barge? It does not have the clout and legend status to fetch that price tag. Lego is very careful in that realm, hence why the Millenium Falcon, AT-AT, ISD, and Razor Crest (all incredibly recognizable and iconic) were approved.

2013 sail barge was 850 pieces, these $240 UCS have been landing around 1900-2000 pieces. I think with an extra 1100ish pieces it could reach minifigure scale.

That Droideka is coming out at the perfect time, I was just about to post about it in the wishlist thread! I've searched around for the technic one a year or two ago, they weren't too expensive, but the over reliance on unique colors and 20 year old rubber bands changed my mind.

Super Battle Pack has me interested, more B1s, I love the little guys!

Thinking out loud, I'd advise nobody gets their hopes too high on the Tantive IV diorama, just given it's price point. Considering LEGO charged $80 for the rather small Endor diorama, I can't see the hallway being very built-up, nor it having more than 3-4 minifigs (tops).

I've literally seen this happen multiple times now. People need to stop listening to Lifebricks as if his word is gospel; half of his videos are purely speculation (but enough to stretch the runtime to 10 minutes for that sweet ad revenue, lmao)

Wow there are some exciting sets on the horizon!

I have no doubt a new Clones vs Droids bp is going to be great, I just hope it's finally a new legion this time. Definitely glad to hear about Super Battle Droids returning, now can we finally get a Crab Droid??

Grogu's rescue has great potential. I forsee a BARC Speeder and hopefully Grogu's pram alongside Kelleran Beck and a few Clone Troopers, hopefully Shock Troopers since we already have a ton of 501st.

A buildable Droideka sounds fantastic.

A Boonta Eve podrace diorama sounds very promising but I of course would prefer new minifig-scale podracer sets. Maybe we'll get some later in the year, fingers-crossed.

I'm very glad we're getting more ship models like the Super Star Destroyer but the Falcon seems like a strange choice. The Tantive IV on the other hand sounds great.

I do hope the Skeleton Crew set is good and offers some cool minifigs but we still know so little about that show so we shall see.

The rest of the stuff doesn't really interest me much.

The Clones vs. Droids Battlepack sounds great. Hopefully the Super Battle Droids are redesigned to not be so brittle anymore. Grogu's Escape could be decent as long as they don't rehash the 501st Clones again. Plain white or more Shock Troopers would be ideal.

Glad the dioramas are branching out into the prequels. The Boonta Eve Podrace is a solid choice to start off with. The Tantive IV diorama should be good as well considering we've never had the interior of the ship accurately done before. Looks like Jabba's Palace won't be happening which is a shame.

Surprised we're getting a mid scale Millennium Falcon instead of a regular one in the summer wave. Given that 2024 marks 5 years since the Rise of Skywalker one was released you'd think it would be due a replacement by then. Unless they surprise us with Nien Nunb I can't imagine the minifigures (if we even get any) will be too exciting.

The Skeleton Crew ship will ultimately depend on how good the show is for me to consider buying it.

I’ve been thinking about that as well and tbh this year was the year to remake an OT Falcon but with ROTJ figures for the 40th anniversary.

Grogu's escape: this is the set I am looking forward the most. We can get barc speeder, pram, Naboo guards, clones, Kelleran and all those things are exciting to me.
The skeleton crew ship: depends if I like the show or not
Podrace Diorama: getting it unless it's miniscale
Droideka and R2-D2: 0 interest
Midi-Scale sets: 0 interest, hate midi scale stuff, but happy they stopped making those awful helmets
Tantive boarding diorama: sounds like a great set, need to see how it looks though
Clone and droid battle pack: I hate it, I have no use for B2 and super battle droids cause they are so outdated and brittle and they don't give us anything good like tactical droids or super tactical droids. Build will most likely be as awful, oversized and inacurate as the 501st $30 set was and I will end up paying $30 for 4 clones again. If the clones are all plain phase 2 they are awful for army building cause there are no proper ranks as in officers, sergeants, lieutenants, commanders, majors, generals. Will most likely not get them at all unless the builds are accurate and focus on current 501st and 332nd. I would have preffered 2x $20 battle packs over this one.
Young Jedi adventure sets: not really interested as I don't watch the show, but if the set is looking good I might get it.

I'm happy TPM is finally getting some substantive representation, but I'd be bummed if the podracers only come in diorama form. They'd have to be on the smaller side instead of mini-fig scale.

RIP to the helmets, I've had fun collecting the lot of them.

Glad to see the UCS line keeps chugging along, but I doubt we'll get details on the $240 May the 4th set for a long time.

Knowledge.

The preliminary photo of the barge was an early sketch, lacking any kind of detail (let alone minifigures)... it was a studded shell with exposed technic, approximating the footprint of what will someday be a finished set. If you are guestimating at prices based on the appearance of that sketch, you are not likely to arrive anywhere near the actual product price.

I don't recall saying it would be $650. But there are plenty of people out there questioning who would buy a $650 Venator, especially considering the ISD didn't exactly fly off the shelves at that price. Or the Razor Crest, considering it had only been in a TV series, and blew up half-way through that. Or an Eiffel Tower the size of a Christmas tree. Or a Titanic the size of, well, the Titanic... there's clearly a large enough market for giant LEGO things that LEGO keeps making them.

I think you're being a bit optimistic here. I would realistically peg the Barge in the MBS price range at minimum, especially given it will almost certainly come loaded with minifigures.

TRoS is still on shelves funny enough. A Millenium Falcon should be constantly on shelves, just perhaps shifting around the context. A RoTJ one with Lando and Nien Nunb would be sick.

Fair enough. Could probably be upwards of $400 on that note and maybe include a Sarlaac and Skiff to make it feel more "complete"

Podrace Diorama: getting it unless it's miniscale

I have some bad news for you...

I'm sort of picking on you here as I'm sure you liked the specialists pack, but this is the perfect example of an instance where lego is in a no-win situation with clones somehow. Ranked/special troops? "bad for a battle pack" (I agree about, say, higher ranks in a bona fide battle pack, but disagree about special troops and lower ranks in stuff like the hovertank.). All generic troops? Complaints about the lack of ranked troops. Lego's been making some really bad decisions recently, but you can't argue they haven't been trying their best to give clone fans everything they want.

Also, I assume the SBDs are finally returning because they've fixed them, but we'll see.

Battle Pack: Sounds good. Hope it is 4 p2 shinies, I'll pick one or two up at least if so. Also happy the SBDs are returning after all this time, this was long-awaited by me.

Grogu Escape: I personally think this is incredibly stupid, especially with lego running out of vehicles to put in clone battle packs, but I'm happy for the people who want it, and for Ahmed Best to get a fig of himself again after 8 years. Who knows, I might even pick one up if we get shock troopers.

Podrace Diorama: Surprised they're doing this, since I thought the trench run was a shelfwarmer, but I think it'll look nice. I just figured we'd have had palpatine's arrest, mustafar duel, or other prequel stuff before this.

Tantive IV hallway diorama:

Vader%20Hallway%20Diorama.png
Come at me, lego.

Midi scale falcon: Nice, hope it's got a cool brick-built stand like the Executor. I like the idea of these being the new helmet series.

Droidika: YES, YES, YES. I've never wanted one of these statue sets so badly, and I don't even like droidikas that much in general. Something about this concept just sounds awesome to me.

R2- Waste of a slot IMO, I don't care if it's smaller than the one from two years ago, it's WAAAAY to soon. We do not care.

YJA is fine for 4+, but I hope they ARE 4+. Waste of a slot if not. For Skeleton Crew, it'll depend on the show and main ship's design, I literally have no info to go off of here.

All in all some great ideas, mid-tier sets, and slot wastes. It kind of feels incomplete, I think we're definately missing a sub-$30 set for one thing.

I'm happy to be getting the podrace diorama but still wish they would be doing more for TPM. We haven't had a Naboo Fighter or MTT in ages and the Duel of the Fates is the perfect scene to be depicted in the diorama format. Its shocking that even after 25 years we still haven't gotten official figures of Boss Nass, Shmi Skywalker and Theed Battle Padme yet.

As much as I hope to see the leaked Sail Barge released next year, I would just as equally be excited if the $240 UCS set turned out to be Queen Amidala's Royal Starship.

You know, I’m most intrigued by the Skeleton Crew set. We’ve seen almost nothing of the show so far, with the exception of a couple pieces of concept art showing the back of the ship. The minifigures might be nice, but so far, I’m just very curious as to how it will look, and if it’s good, I might actually just get that one.

You are completely right. I definitely see and understand that, what some of us want and need will be disasterous for others and whatever LEGO does will just make one of the sides "angry". When it comes to the 501st battle pack I really LOVE the officer figure and I will be switching helmets on some of them to have proper leadership for 332nd, but I think they could have done some things better like add pauldrons and kamas for heavy troopers. Those of us that don't like those troops could just remove those accessories and have regular troopers.
Yes, LEGO has been giving us all the clones we asked for from Rex, Cody, Fox To Vaughn, but their executions on some of them is not really that great sadly. I am especially salty about the Vaughn helmet.

Don't forget my boy Rune Haako who was in all 3 prequel movies.

Something interesting is that one of kids in Skeleton Crew is same species as Max Rebo.

So just looked on Argos in the U.K. and the new clone battle pack is on a 2 for £30 deal already

Quick question is the spider tank an exclusive to Lego? Couldn’t find it anywhere in the normal shops online in the U.K.

Is there any update on the rumored Jabba’s Throne Room diorama?  Or, put another way, do we definitively know it’s been ruled out.  I seem to remember it being a possibility for 2023, now there doesn’t seem room for it this year,  I’m unclear how far into 2024 the new leaked reveals go until.  Still hoping that they’ll find another way to offer Jabba besides a massive sail barge.

The wave overall feels lacklustre from a playscale standpoint (one “super battle pack”, one pseudo-battle pack, and the ship from Skeleton Crew), though excellent for midi-scale and diorama collectors; hopefully we will get more normal sets from the five unknowns (maybe an Ahsoka spoiler set, and hopefully 1-2 TBB sets).

By “new type”, do you mean a new unit or a new helmet?

New unit, yeah. Sorry, couldn't think of the word yesterday :innocent:

But, as some have suggested, it could very well end up being plain white clones, which I'm also fine with.
Heck, it could be Phase One clones, too

Mitch

The Entertainer (toyshop dot com) has it. I doubt it's their exclusive though. Weird that no big retailers seem to have picked it up

That sounds like a really solid lineup. Lad to see the return of the midi scale sets. I wonder after 24 years, will we finally see a Shimi Skywalker figure.

I’m hoping for an episode 1 c-3po to be included as well.

That would be great, but I'm guessing the podracer diorama will be more along the line of the trench run one and have no minifigures, especially at that price point.

Posted

I think people need to keep their expectations low for the podrace diorama. I think realistically what we will likely get is anakin's and sebulba's pod racers going through the stone pillars. As much as I eould love to see other podracers and part of the starting track included, I don't see it happening at this price point.

As for the Clones vs Droids bp I do hope they've fixed the clips on the Super Battle Droids. That's really all I ask. They badly need to do the same to the standard Battle Droid too but I don't see them doing that. I mean we've had the same Battle Droids for 25 years and the only mold change was the integration of some strait, upward-facing blaster arms. The clips are in dire need of strengthening, all of my Battle Droids new and old are so loose and fall apart so easily. As for the clones, I'll take anything but 501st, 212th or 51st. As much as I love them, we've had those guys enough. Also, I know some hate them but I hope they keep the helmet holes forever. After begging for them for years, we finally have them and people(cough cough MandR) are still mad. It's so nice to have the option to attach accessories to any clone helmet we want now.

Posted

I’ll reiterate - I actually quite like this first half of the year. Love the variation and I think there’s a real classic feel about it…

In terms of specifics I’m all over that Super Battle Pack, Grogu’s Escape, the Droideka, and even the R2-D2 providing they’re all done right.

Looking at the set numbers, are we confident there are more sets coming or have these been skipped?

One thing I think this wave is missing is a couple of £20-£30 sets for January. Hence, I really do hope January had a few more sets!
