I'd firmly put money on the crab droid being there since the SW designers said they'd consider including a crab droid in a set in the near future when Solid Brix went to Denmark and interviewed the design team.

Another point for the Crab Droid is that LEGO tends to have a 1.5-year turnaround on responding to fan requests/demands (spoiler NWH sets came out around 1.5 years after the originals, for instance); the AT-TE - which was immediately criticised for the lack of a Crab Droid - came out in August of 2022, and the Clones vs. Droids pack will be releasing roughly 1.5 years later. 🤔

Not a crab, sadly, but debuted in the same media.

They get fed to the legal version of a sarlacc pit, which is significantly less metaphorical than it sounds.

On a wider point, I wonder why the january waves are getting shellacked like this. What is it this year, 2 system sets and a 4+?

I always looked forewords to spending my Christmas money on January 1st as a kid. Me and all my friends used to go to the nearest lego store for opening that day. I wonder if lego's decided they get more money from having fewer system releases in the first half the year than if they spent more on developing more sets.

So maybe an AT-RT or an undersized Octuptarra droid then. If it is an AT-RT, hopefully it’s not way too oversized like the one in the 501st set was.

(Or I guess it could be a Corporate Alliance Tank Droid, but that seems like it’s probably too big for this size of set.)

I mean it does make sense that January releases wouldn’t sell great off the bat, since most people buying toys would do so right before Christmas and not be willing to buy anymore right after. And April makes sense for releases since it coincides with being available on May the 4th. I agree that I miss the big January waves of Lego Star Wars.

If it *is* the octuptarra droid (specifically the smaller ROTS variant) then it could well be a 212th Battlepack lol. I mean i'm not against that if they fix the helmet print. Slightly annoying that I already own 43 of the wrong ones though lmaooooo.

And yeah I know the battlepack probably won't be related to any scene. If it WAS though it could also be a Galactic Marine battlepack. That would be the most out of nowhere clone unit lol. But we also live in a timeline with non-canon 187th legion, a battlefront battlepack, an-on-paper-perfect clone battlepack like the 332nd pack and a coruscant guard gunship coming out. We live in strange times.

Also, unrelated. Does anyone know of any good places I'd be able to look for instructions and part lists on making a white version of the 2023 Gunship?(either now, or just somewhere to keep an eye on for it when the red one comes out) I saw a moc of it on reddit and it's quite possibly the hottest thing i've ever seen. If I were married, it'd be causing marital problems.

Probably the latter. Hasn‘t it been said that the clone vehicle is not canon? Either way, that‘s a bit disappointing. A crab droid is almost 20 years overdue

Exactly. People need to remember/realize that sets are designed roughly 2 - 1.5 years out before release; it’s not the year prior. The approval, allotment, design, and packaging all take more time than people would believe.

Unfortunate, but leaves the door open to them possibly doing a remake of the 212th battle pack somewhere down the line. IIRC, the design team had referenced possibly considering the crab in a battle pack in the future so who knows what they’ll do. Would be nice to get an opportunity for the crab droid, two 212th infantry, and two 212th airborne. Thank you for the reserved but candid responses!

We are down to a STAP and a Clone walker now (see @ArrowBricks’s guesses).

The Clone builds were implied to be non-Canon, so an AT-RT is out.
An Octuptarra is likely, and actually could be the correct size (there are two Octuptarra droid types - the Combat Tri-Droid (3.6 meters) and the Magna Tri-Droid (14.59 meters)); considering that Reg Clones are 1.83 meters tall (Jango’s height), a Combat Tri-Droid twice the height of a Minifig would be accurate.

I always wondered what happened to them. After all, they‘re breaking NDAs, which can get pretty ugly I imagine

As an attorney who deals with NDA's and IP rights day in and day out.  The one thing I would fear is personally breaching an NDA especially if I ever wanted to work in a particular industry ever again.

Often times the NDA has language such as this: "Recipient acknowledges that the Confidential Information it receives constitutes unique and valuable information to Discloser and its affiliates and that the breach of any of the provisions contained in this Agreement may result in irreparable harm and continuing damages to Discloser and its affiliates and their businesses, and that Discloser's remedy at law for any such breach or threatened breach may be inadequate...."  Which is often quite fun to figure out what the actual damages are due to the breach.  Getting the injunction that says stop what you are doing and stop using this is easier.

In the case of leaking an upcoming product, the monetary damages side of the breach would be next to impossible to come up with a number for.  For a licensed theme, the damages would likely be to the relationship between Lego and the License holder.  If the license holder decided to end the relationship, then the damages would likely be the lost future revenue for that license.  And Lego could go after the leaker for those damages.  However, if they kept the relationship, then the amount of actually damages would be a lot harder to figure out.

At the end of the day, the real harm to the leaker caused by the leak would be loss of future employment/access to this type of information.   And any company looking to do business with the individual would, if they are doing their due diligence, likely not want to work with them.

Attenzione Bri'ish Lego Star Wars collectors. The Coruscant Guard Gunship is a Smyths Toys Exclusive here in the UK (along with Lego obviously). Also you can actually pre-order from Smyths it if you're into that.

Is it fully confirmed that we're getting plain Phase 2 Clones in the battle pack in January because I'm sick of the 501st and the 212th at this point and the Plain clones are very important because they make up most of the the army and I am going to buy 7 of those battle packs if they are indeed plain Clones.

I’m fairly certain the Lego app has building instructions for old and new sets but I don’t know how long it takes for new sets to be updated

That’s good because Smyths do good sales regularly so might be able to pick it up cheaper before Christmas

Yeah if it had to be exclusive to anywhere Smyths might've been my pick.

I don’t know if it’s been posted here or not, but via leaker palnet on Discord regarding the Clones vs droid battle pack:

” speaking of the clone battle pack, I have no idea why the fact it’s plain phase 2’s hasn’t been mentioned “

and then via lego leaks mod: “apparently it’s not only plain phase 2, they are some of the four”

He did go on to say that “I could see it being a gunner reuse to kind of be an homage to the 2010 battle pack”

There is more than one type of clone.

I can't remember what theme it was for but I remember someone leaked a specific wave of Lego sets and got fired for where they were working in a toy shop. That's the only time I've heard of a leaker getting into trouble

More than one type as in more than one legion? Like Shock, 212th, Gunner, and 501st? Or like three 212th and a gunner?

Moved to the correct thread.

I second @NoOneOfImportance’s question - Does the set contain multiple units, or just multiple roles within the same unit (e.g. a 212th pack with three regs and an airborne)?

Nothing regarding the unit has been confirmed.

The idea that the Clone unit and the build in battle packs would match/make sense went out the window with the 332nd pack; for all we know, we could end up finally getting a Crab Droid in a snow gear 501st pack!

Some might disagree but I think it would be really cool if there was the same ratio of different clones as the 2007 battlepack - two shinies, one red one and a yellow one. If that were to happen I would honestly consider getting 3 of that set, enough to have small squads of each trooper.

Wow, I never noticed that. And whenever you think of Octuptarra droids, the main things that come to mind are on Christophsis in the Clone Wars movie, on Skako Minor in Season 7, and on Mygeeto in ROTS, which are all the larger versions. I probably saw them in the background on Utapau, but never realized they were so small.

Considering it's the 25th anniversary of Lego Star Wars next year it's possible and I wouldn't mind that but I would rather have it be 4 shinies or maybe 3 and 1 gunner because if it was 20 euro I wouldn't mind but it's one of those 30 euro battle packs I would have to buy a lot so I can have 21 shinies. I like to have the 21 of each legion since I have 21 501st troopers, 21 212th troopers and 21 332nd troopers.

I would be ok with this so long as we stopped getting the constant clone battlepacks. We've had too many at this point.

Like, the 212th troopers are my favorite legion, and I don't have a single one of the new style 212th troopers, but I don't think I'd buy a 212th battle pack if it came out, say, august 2024. Not more than one, at least, unlike the large numbers of 501st packs I got. Generally speaking, at this point most people who wanted to army build clones, army built clones, and I think lego's going to start seeing diminishing returns.

(Not to mention, the constant clone packs mean we're losing out on rebel, imperial, first order, mandalorian, and scoundrel battle packs)

Saw another T-6 review...imma be honest, even though I have gripes with the set, I still really like it.

I just know I'm gonna end up getting these, warts and all, since I KNOW I'm gonna love the ahsoka show.

Careful what you complain about. Too much complaining about clone battle packs, and all you'll get are Gungans, Geonosians, and Ewoks.

Actually, that sounds pretty cool, if spread over a year or two.
