I'd guess the internal structure made any sort of interior unrealistic, and having the landing bay doors open to reveal technic bars wouldn't be interesting. I hope I'm wrong though Quote

It just HAD to specifically be modelled after the Resolute, a venator with a somewhat unique paint job. It's a good set but it honestly reduces the coolness for me by atleast 60% knowing it's just The Resolute. I would have preferred a normal venator so I could have had it be literally any other venator we see in the show or ROTS. I'm not even 100% sure Phase 2 Rex would have ever been aboard The Resolute. It was destroyed in season 3. I believe that ALL command Venators have the red bridges tbh, not just the Resolute. Still, it is a bit odd that they used the red bridge Command style of Venator, instead of the more well known grey bridge style. Maybe there's extra parts in the box to swap the towers? That feels like a stretch tho lol. 2 hours ago, The_Chosen_1 said: So…do we think the main landing bay doors will open down the middle? God, I hope so. It's the second most iconic thing about the Venator, behind the duel bridges. Even a lot of really good MOCs of it end up leaving it out for more accuracy, but the clean split through the whole red stripe, and sorta inconsistent looking red along the sides (like the strange jagged bit, where it seems to close in by 2 studs or so), makes me think it's gonna open up. How detailed the inside will be... thats the real question to me. Quote

Unfortunately the clean split and the jagged bit are just the Clone Wars style of Venator, the ROTS style which most MOCs are based on is different in a number of places. The red is sandwiched underneath the LBG 6x4 wedge plates at the end, so the opening hangar is at best unlikely. I feel like it would be on the box if it did open up. Quote
MaximillianRebo Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 (edited) Watching reviews of the Ghost and I'm losing interest in getting the set. I wasn't fussed by the exposed technic beams but somehow the big gaps on the underside of the ship bugged me. I'm usually the first person to say just add some extra pieces to fix the flaws but to this seems to have been the straw that broke the set for me. I like the design of the ship (always a sucker for ships with angled surfaces, just so I can see how those angles were achieved) and I enjoyed Rebels but I'm not it's number one fan. The figs are decent - Hera is great, Chopper good (although the previous version looks somehow better) and the others are ok but ultimately background characters - and I say this as someone who doesn't prioritise figs when choosing sets (and I never expected there to be a complete rehash of the Rebels crew in this set). The interior is there, but seems kind of empty and bland, Hera sits on the floor in the cockpit (I know, just stick a chair under her). I know this is all nitpicking it just seems to have eroded my interest in a set I was originally looking forward to when it was announced. Ultimately I lot of what I said doesn't even matter as I just build and display - missing plates underneath, lacklustre interior aren't even things I'll even see when it's on the shelf. Maybe if there's a good discount at some point I'll change my mind but with the set being an exclusive that's unlikely (Amazon might have a sale later). I'll probably wait until Ahsoka finishes then see how I feel. Wondering if others feel the same way or if I'm being too negative and looking for flaws in what's actually a great set. Nah I agree somewhat. At first I really wanted it, but looking a reviews and more pictures... one could easily MOC a better Ghost. I would like to try using a 6 wide canopy, like the one used in 75573 from avatar for the cockpit? Seems more accurate size wise, even for a play-scale? I also think Hera is bound to reappear in another set someday, maybe even a microfighter like Mando's. She and Chopper are fan favorites and the Ghost is bound to get more screen time in this. Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Haha yeah, i was aboard the hype train for the Ghost and my hype got bigger as the Ahsoka show continues and i really love the minifigs but the more i think about the price, the less i can justify to myself buying it. Hope Hera will show up in a cheaper set. Quote
lomis Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 As someone who does not own the previous Ghost nor intend on ever building an MOC version - I purchased the Ghost and Phantom II set and don't regret it for a minute. The build was really fun and I think the final model looks great. I'm not really that nitpicky about LEGO sets being replicas of the models from the movies. And the Ghost is by far the most interesting of the Ahsoka sets. The price is a bit high, but that seems to be par for the course for so many sets these days. Having said that - I may think about modding it to clean up the underside. But if I don't get around to it, so be it. Quote
Archer Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 So I built all three Ahsoka sets on the same day and I felt like the building instructions had waaay more steps than necessary. It just seems like each step just adds one single piece any more. It’s weird to flip the page to see you’ll only be adding four 1x2 tiles in the next two steps. I get when the four plus instructions are like this but I really felt it building the ghost. Quote
McMurder_them_softly Posted September 11, 2023 Posted September 11, 2023 Curious when LEGO will release detailed Venator images. They for sure know that we know at this point... Quote

This is the same Lego company who sent people the collectors Hogwarts express set which hadn’t been officially revealed yet instead of the 90th Anniversary Castle. I sometimes think they just forget although out of curiosity do Lego actually look at the forums on here ? Edited September 11, 2023 by Llewop I forgot a sentence Quote

In my ranking, the remaining top spots go to the other two Ahsoka sets The best subtheme in a long time, and these three sets also individually outshine everything else released this year (even the Gunship and the Venator)! Guess i will wait a couple of weeks/months and see if i can find a good deal That's an important nuance of course: the price in Europe is more or less fixed at MSRP since it's an amazon exclusive here. If it could be found significantly cheaper, I wouldn't doubt much either, but at this price, considering everything else, I find it hard to justify personally. Especially with e-wing set (which I love) on sale for less than €80 or the T6 below €60. Quote

I'm having the same quandary. Between the gunship and the Ghost, both of which seem to be LEGO exclusives here in Finland, I was going to prioritise the gunship. But the gunship is 180eur as opposed to 140 most elsewhere in Europe, while the Ghost is the same price at 170. So I'm actually thinking of getting the Ghost first, because it's a better deal here. While I love the gunship I don't want to go spending more for less. Quote

So the set will not show up in other stores like Smyths later? Like it is exlusive in the first 3 months only? Quote

CallumPears Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 (edited) Video on the LEGO site showing part of the building process pretty much confirms no opening hangar doors. Not exactly a surprise since it didn't look like it would be able to from the pictures we already had but I think that combined with it being based on TCW rather than RotS it's enough to move it from a "maybe" to a "nah" for me. Might still see if I can grab a few Yularens (or at least the torso) as I've been after Republic Officers for years, though that'll probably be pretty expensive and I'm not a massive fan of how they executed him anyway (a couple of the lines on the torso should've been lighter to give a more distinctive S-shape). Alex_South Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 (edited) The tile and stud mixture on the hull is probably the cleanest I have ever seen on a UCS, the proportions look great and I do love the colors. Size and Budget of the UCS line is way out of my league but I am always hopeful that a UCS version increases odds we might get a 'playscale' version in a year or so. Old Master Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 I have been rewatching a bunch of Clone Wars lately and while I was initially impressed with this Rex figure, I no longer am. The arm printing is the only desirable attribute. Official, custom, whatever it is, I have yet to see a single minifigure do Rex justice, in my opinion. I guess it's hard because of how unique his armor is, but this one feels like a step up and back from the 2013 one. Official pics of the Venator have revealed a few more stickers than I initially thought as well. I spot 6 Quote
MSY-MSP Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 I like the set. It looks interesting to me and I am not terribly concerned what version it is between the CW and TROS. Granted it is a big set and that may be my biggest hurdle on pulling the trigger on it. The one space I have where it could be displayed has been taken over by the Titanic that my girls demanded that I put there (and buy and build) for them. (This is after it spent 3 months in one of their classrooms). Is it just me or do all of the lifestyle shots have impeccably clean and organized houses without a hint of any other Lego whatsoever. I mean they really should have at least one or two shots of the person trying to figure out where they are going to put the set amongst the rest of their entire collections. You know reaching over the Eifel Tower to reach a shelf, or tripping over the AT-AT. Its not like someone purchasing this set doesn't own any other sets. Quote

Yea, I think I'm in the same boat. I already have a custom Midi-scale one, and honestly? I don't want to find the space to cram a giant set into in my house if it can't even open the damn hangar bay doors. Thats the whole point of the ship! Maybe if/when someone designs a mod to allow for opening doors, I might pull the trigger, but I guess I'm back to looking for a Venator MOC that has opening doors... Quote
Balrogofmorgoth Posted September 12, 2023 Posted September 12, 2023 I think people are still missing the point of UCS sets. If you don’t have display space, then UCS sets aren’t for you. If you have to have a lot of different play functions, UCS sets aren’t for you. If a full interior is non-negotiable, UCS sets aren’t for you. Seems like people are always so shocked and upset when all these different play set criteria aren’t met for a large scale display model Quote

Seems like people are always so shocked and upset when all these different play set criteria aren’t met for a large scale display model This is a big reason I am personally against the notion of highly exclusive mini-figures in UCS sets, it just translates to LEGO always having an excuse to do bare minimum for play-scale minifigs, it's consumers playing themselves. IMO the UCS line is primarily about vehicle accuracy which means large scale and tons of pieces and $$. Play-scale stuff is more for play features and minifigures and all that fun stuff we enjoyed as kids. I will grant that exclusive minifigures make sense for UCS sets designed with a full interior like the razorcrest or a master builder series set like the cantina. The Venator is a beautiful model though, I forgot how much I love the design, it makes me wish Thrawn's ship was something unique and custom like an old venator instead of a boring ISD. Quote
