It makes no sense to re-release 501st regs when they JUST retired after being on shelves for three years. No business sense. Waste of precious fig slots.

Who else would be included? Shocks and Shinies are in the battle pack, and Naboo guards would prevent the set from having any antagonists.

BTW, @itsjustajoe is hinting at Beskar Moff over on Discord; nothing on whether he will be in a set or just an anniversary Minifig, nor who his source is, though.

Naboo guards would be ideal, what other set would they release in in the near future? A set doesn’t need antagonists, sets like the Snub fighter and Coruscant Guard Gunship don’t have conflicting factions.

True, but I feel like there would need to be a bit of conflict in the set for it to feel like an “escape”.

No idea if he's reliable but putting aside that rumor, I'm not sure I see them releasing him as an anniversary minifig when he could totally show up in a dedicated Mando season 3 set. Lego evidently has seen that it sells so I would be kind of surprised if we don't get anything else next year, especially since there are plenty of things they could do for season 3.

Agree, and $30 for a speeder with side car and only 1.5 figs (Beq and Grogu) sounds a bit too expensive for me. I think there is at least a third fig in the set.

I think this one definitely comes with an anniversary figure. Wouldn’t be surprised to see Beq, Grogu, two troopers of some kind, plus a fifth. Lego prices Star Wars figures at around $4, so that would leave $10 for the speeder and side car which is still rather expansive. I’m just tired of the 501st, if Lego wants to keep pumping out clones, give us Wolfpack, 41st, Phase 1.

Please god no more 501st clones.

How to 501st clones in 2023/24:

  1. Buy 332nd Battlepack
  2. Buy 501st Battlepack
  3. Swap the helmets
  4. You're welcome.
  5. no need for more 501st clones in sets
  6. please lego no, no god please no more blue boys please.

If you want non-helmet hole clones,

1. lego's not going to make them again,

2. they're very cheap anyway

3.the 501st battlepack clones actually have a more accurate helmet print which is something to consider.

This is a very valid point. Lego adding generic 501st to the Speeder Escape set would introduce zero new clone elements, you can make your own regs by combining two of the helmets from the current 501st bp with two of the bodies of the 332nd bp and you have extra clones left over for just $5 more than the Speeder Escape set. Republic commandos would be a great alternative and still preserve the conflict.

I'm not sure I would agree with this. Look at it this way: for people who don't want to combine figs from the 332nd and 501st packs (whether due to lack of interest or of knowledge), they now have a Rex, 332nd, and 501st specialist army with no regulars available (and the only ones that were available don't match the helmet hole look).

LEGO would be smart to put 501st into this set. They go with the scene, and for people who want 501st for their army, they would then have to buy multiples of this set to acquire that (and since I doubt this set will have more than two of any trooper, that would entail people buying a lot of this set). Remember, not everyone is aftermarket-experienced. They buy what is on shelves to army-build, etc., and LEGO knows that.

Additionally, from a budgeting standpoint, I would rather LEGO reuse prints to make 501st for this set and give us good anniversary figs with the budget than put a bunch of extra effort into two troopers for a $30 set that don't need it. LEGO's theme budget isn't unlimited, and I would rather it go where it matters more (at least to myself and some).

If you look on EBay certainly in the U.K. there are so many 501st listings and at a decent price, anyone can use EBay so I don’t think people people need much experience in buying older figures. I sold all my P1 clones to parents on EBay buying it for their kids for Christmas.

I get that it might be more accurate to the scene having them in but then there are shock troopers and plain clones in that sequence as well if I remember but then again when has Lego ever really cared about accuracy with sets they mash up and mix up characters all the time. I would be on board for 501st being in the set if it wasn’t for the fact that the past 3 of the last 4 battle packs have been dedicated to them when another legion would have sufficed

Acquiring 501st regs from the aftermarket is infinitely more prudent than buying multiples of a set in which half the figures are not army buildable. Acquiring 501st regs by combing two army buildable battle packs is more prudent than buying multiples of a set in which half the figures are not army buildable. The people who army build in any significant numbers are certainly third market savvy and Lego should prioritize figure diversity, not quantity.

The newest super battle pack has a Shock Trooper coming.

Yeah I forgot about that but doesn’t mean they couldn’t put them in two sets,

TBH, anything other than 501st in Grogu's escape is copium; while other options do exist, we all know what the cheapest and most likely option for LEGO is.

Especially with how bad Mando sets typically are in terms of minifigs/price - I’m not expecting more than Kelleran, Grogu, and 1 501st trooper in a $30 set.

Same, though the possibility of an anniversary Minifig has not been ruled out.

An anniversary figure makes little sense, given how easily he could be featured in a regular Mando S3 set. The point of the anniversary figures seems to be the inclusion of characters we likely wouldn’t see in normal circumstances :classic:

Agreed. I don’t see why this set should be an exception. In 2019, even the anniversary battlepack featured a bonus minifig

They're gonna put no clones and have it be just Kelleran Beq, Grogu, and then someone like Cal Kestis or Starkiller since they know it'll sell like hotcakes because of it.

I wouldn’t even mind that too much, to be honest. While having a clone trooper (be it 501st or a shockie) would be nice, it’s not a necessity in my book :purrr:

Also, I think the set will sell even without a hype beast anniversary minifig :snicker: The scene was one of the coolest in S3 (besides episodes 5, 7 and 8) and Kelleran alone will make it a desirable set

It's not so much for adding desirability as adding value. $30 is pretty rough for just a BARC and sidecar, and if it's only got 2.5 figs, that wouldn't make it better. Last BARC with sidecar we got had a whole extra speeder with it and it's 2.5 figs (one of whom was Captain Rex, if we're going off desirability.)

Is Kellaren all that desirable? Like I get that it's cool they brough him back and all that, but in the end he's just a bald human in jedi robes. I could take a Mace fig, swap the head and add a cape, and boom, Kelleran Beq.

Does the set have to come with clones? If they want to add something new they could add Naboo Guards

Yes, but that requires new moulds, and including 501st troopers doesn’t even require any new prints, which ends up being a lot cheaper for Lego.
I sincerely hope there’s a Naboo Guard or two, but I doubt Lego’s willingness to do it considering how much they’ve try to cheap out on minifigs so often in the past.

The UniBricks on Youtube said we're getting a Captain Rex Y-Wing next year but I don't see anyone else talking about it, maybe he's wrong ?

Never heard of him before, but I'll give him the standard "If what you've told me is true, you will have gained my trust. But for now, remain here. Wait in the Council chambers until we receive more reliable information"
