I never buy any of the mini builds. I wish they would completely drop the mini builds and the magazines would always come with a minifigure. Doing so they would also sell much more magazines in general.

As an american, where the magazines don't show up, I honestly also kind of wish they'd do it. The figs don't go ALL the way down to magazine price on sites like BL after the mags show up in europe, but they do decrease somewhat.

That said, the figs are assumably more expensive to produce.

I always wonder why there are no such magazines in the US. Any ideas why?

The magazines aren't made BY lego. They're made by a european company for lego and presumably lego provides the figures and builds from excess stock. I would imagine that the company who currently makes those magazines might not have the resources to distribute to such a huge place like the USA, at least not yet. Whether that be because they don't have the personel and money to make that happen or literally just don't have the industrial might to produce that much stock. There may be other countless political reasons as well, perhaps the company can't even secure access to the US market very easily due to american trade policy? Maybe a competing US publisher has made securing distribution next to impossible? It's all speculation really, the company that publishes and makes those magazines isn't some huge lego-tier company. They just make/sell magazines. You'd probably have to rock up to their HQ and literally ask their boss why they don't do it lol.

TL;DR AMERICA BIG, COMPANY SMALL, OCEAN LARGE, MOVING STUFF HARD. POLITICS COMPLICATED.

Yes i know, Blue Ocean publishes a lot of magazines in europe, not only Lego magazines. But one would think that there could be an other publisher for the US and Canadien markets, no? Maybe it's one of those strange things like the non-existence of a LSW CMF.

I mean they could sell some 100k copies of a LSW magazine in the US. In Germany the LSW magazine has a total circulation of ~131.000 copies and sells roughly half of it. They then recycle unsold copies in bundles of 2 magazines/foil packs, but i don't know if these are included in the numbers. You can also order them online, but again i don't know if this adds to the initial number of sold copies.

EDIT: Of course issues with minifigs sell better than issues with mini builds. At least from my observation (in stores and online discussions).

Surprised no pics have leaked yet given January waves sets release in 2 months and some stores definitely will stock them in mid-late December. Really want to see the battle pack and the collectible minifig line releasing in the march/may sets

To be fair we didn't see leaked pics of last January's SW wave until well into December, so it could still be a month before they get out.

Still want to see the BP personally. Its the only set I intend to not exclusively bricklink figures out of.

And this is coming from a guy who enjoys building sets

I thought there was more? Isn’t there still 3 or 4 sets we know nothing about set to release before the summer. Looked on the 2024 thread and looks like there were a couple of set numbers with no info or dates on

Someone do correct me if I am wrong.

Originally there were 5 sets slated for January.

This included an unknown set 75373 (so could well still exist we have just heard nothing about it), and 75374 the Skeleton Crew ship which has now been delayed.

There is also 30680 (rumoured to be an AAT Polybag). Not sure anyone is excited to see this so I didn’t even include it but in theory it makes the grand total of January sets to 3.

There are also other set numbers that were originally unknown: 75377, 75388, 75389. We now know the first which is The Invisible Hand mid-scale. At the time, these three numbers were revealed at the same time and were hinted to be mid-scale ships, buildable droids, diorama’s. 75377 is slated for March which makes sense as the other mid-scale ships for this year are too. If we assume the others are buildable droids/diorama’s, it makes sense to assume they release in May along with the others.

Crimson firehawk is a January set. Besides that we have a bunch of unknown sets that should atlwast have 1 or 2 release in January.

Has anyone here bought the Christmas themed limited run set? Is it worth the 25 pounds?

I bought one for myself and one for my dad, and though I've been waiting 'til this weekend to build mine (all of my assessments for school will be over by that point in the term) I'm quite excited and they look like they'll be pretty epic Christmas decorations. Also definitely worth it for the price, seeing as sets that size are normally AU$50, but this one is $45, which is what all sets in that price range were before the price increases.

75391: Captain Rex's Y-Wing Microfighter ($12.99, 99 pieces), same exact Rex as included in the Venator, no confirmed release date

Excellent.

I have been teetering on whether I should buy the Venator or not, but this new Y Wing has seals the deal for me not buying it. I just don’t have much room for it, not a huge fan of the build process of Star Destroyer which seems very similar to it, and now Rex being able to be bought else where theres no need for it. I do wish they kept it exclusive with the bandage print for those who bought it though.

As someone who has the Venator I am VERY happy that Rex is no longer exclusive. No one should have to spend $650 to get their favorite character. Plus I hate the scalper market  very funny that he is coming in a $12 set. I still think Yularen will stay exclusive, but I do very much hope we get a generic republic officer hat and all soon.

Yup, the plain white phase II clone looks like a plain white phase II clone.

imo Lego needs to give clones the treatment they gave stormtroopers and especially scout troopers with dual-moulded helmets.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one! (because of Rex and because of the return of Microfighters!)

It’s a double-edged sword IMO. Stormtrooper helmets are so goofy looking, whilst the scout trooper ones are perfection. Feels like there’s always a 50/50 chance with dual-moulded helmets either looking great or awful, so I’ll always be trepidatious when it comes to them.

Nice to hear Rex is coming in a cheaper set. I'll 100% be getting it, although I would have preferred if he'd been in a playscale set. Still can't complain too much though since it would have been annoying if he'd been in a more expensive set.
