Yperio_Bricks Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 These can be concepts or early prototypes. As i understand it, the survey was about the price range / price point, so they don't need to show the test persons the finished products. Still it's kinda strange. WIth all the leaks in recent years Lego has the idea to put images of 12 big sets into a survey and show them to random people? Quote

I was hoping for a minifig scale set (à la the UCS Falcon, AT-AT, or Mos Eisley Cantina) with minifigures. This looks like a play scale one with no figs on a stand. This is almost certainly a concept model - like, the details are tiny to give a general idea of what a bigger model would look like. Or not, I don't know. Quote
Max Rebo Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Those are prototypes for 2023 and 2024. Some of them look finished (2023), others like The Burrow are not, you can see white Figures as placeholders there. Quote

Because an undersized display version of the Sail Barge would really hurt, since it means we wouldn’t get a minifig scale version for a really long time, if ever. Quote

WIth all the leaks in recent years Lego has the idea to put images of 12 big sets into a survey and show them to random people? Yeah, it's definitely strange. I'll quote Falconfan1414 from the Disney thread, though, saying: "Temper expectations because I don’t know how many of these sets will actually release. I would say none of these are 2023 and it’s all for 2024. Like if this is fake I’ll applaud whoever did it because this would be one of the best fakes I have truly ever seen. This has to be one of the most crazy and biggest leaks. I didn’t believe it at first I’ll admit but I think we have a large chunk of 2024 d2cs" So it seems like there is some credence to this (especially because with the Disney leaks, the original descriptions that the EB member posted include details that match the images that we have). I guess it remains to be seen whether or not these are all coming, and if so, whether they're for 2023 or 2024 and what changes may be made. Quote

I wasn’t expecting a finished set, but if they wanted to change it to minifig scale the entire structure of the set would be completely different. Quote

QuiggoldsPegLeg Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Actually it’s missing the back fins, so this is definitely a really rough design. The scale still puts me a little bit on edge, but I’m now more cautiously optimistic. Quote

The structure would definitely be different, and yeah, not sure why they'd need to make such a small model for a concept. I'm not a designer, though. Quote

Give an EB user some photos to cautiously pass around under the guise of leaks, and get fast-paced, honest focus group feedback lol. Quote
ArrowBricks Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I don’t think people realise how big these leaks are. Game-changer. Lego’s reaction is going to be interesting. Did we get confirmation that the Max Rebo leaks were legit? If so, the Sail Barge is 2023 surely. Quote

There’s no way it’s releasing this year. Same with some other sets that leaked around the same time. Judging by this, Lego still needs to design an entire set, which takes a while. Like other people have said, there’s a decent chance the Max Rebo mould is being used for another separate Ortolan. Quote
AD_Bricks Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 This is insane! How long has it been since we got a leak on this scale?? Quote

RODDY Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 UCS JABBA’S SAIL BARGE LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I think this is a rough model as not only the fins are missing but it’s at 6,500 pieces as well, so this feels like a placeholder. And I got money it’s coming out this year, no way they don’t have the Barge come out on the 40th Anniversary. I’m SOOO excited, the barge is my favorite Star Wars vehicle and it’s about time it gets the royal treatment it so rightfully deserves. Quote
storskogen Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 I think there are far too many exposed studs to be the final model. The latest UCS sets have quite few exposed studs and are mostly covered by tiles. Quote
The Stud Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 (edited) This has been the most interesting batch of Lego leaks in quite a while. I'm curious to see if any of these don't get made, as I've heard mostly praise for these various renders and set concepts. The concept of Jabba's Sail Barge looks kinda boring, but assuming it had an interior and include a good number of minifigures, I'd be very satisfied. I can't imagine they do this set at such a large size and not make it accessible to minifigures. I hope this happens as Jabba's Sail Barge is one of the few large OT sets I'd be interested in, besides more playsets. People loved the Haslab Barge from a few years ago, imagine how cool a Lego version would be. They could even do a Desert Skiff and Sarlacc remake to go along with it. Since this idea has been floating around for a 2024 set, that's pretty much confirmation that the Barge won't be either of the UCS/D2C sets for this year. (I have no idea what the May set will be, but my money's still on a large Endor playset, a large Stinger Mantis and/or the Fondor possibly.) I don't think that earlier Max Rebo rumor really had to do with this; I still think that was related to a 2024 Skeleton Crew set, but this does mean that we could probably expect Max Rebo in this set if it comes to fruition. The Sail Barge could still *possibly* be the $160 set this summer, as we did get our last play-scale AT-AT about a year prior to the UCS version, but I don't think it will be. Agree with you about it not being the final design but not for the reason you said. Quote
Alpha Draconis Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 TLG will want some peoples heads served on a plate for this leak. Unless they intentionally leaked this so they would gauge consumer reaction and get a more realistic input on what people are willing to pay for these sets... but I'm probably playing a devil's advocate too much. Track record doesn't show this kind of behaviour from them at all and it would be wild to go all-out on leaks of such a scale all of the sudden. Jabba's sail barge looks... nothing special just a scaled-up model. Was the focus group only shown these pictures? If I was a part of it I'd have a hard time deciding on putting a price tag on the barge as it's all tiled-up and I can't see the guts of it Quote

(I'd heard some suspicous stuff about the x mansion model being someone's old MOC or something, but no confirmation.) It is unfortunate that these may not all see release, but I'm hoping for Barad-Dur and the Batman skyline at least. As for the sail barge itself... it's a UCS sail barge. IDK. Is what it is. Quote

1340cc Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 If they do make a UCS Sail Barge, would they include huttslayer Leia? Thought Disney weren't allowing any more merch of Leia in that outfit, but it was an important part of the scene in the movie so the set would be incomplete without it. If they give it a detailed interior like the AT-AT and Razor Crest it would feel like a wasted effort with an important character missing. Quote
