The building techniques are getting better on average and arm printing is becoming more common, but at the same time they also have put out a lot of the atrocious new clone design and have opted for cheaping out or being careless when it comes to some easy choices for sets. I hope we get a new montral piece as well, although knowing Lego I really doubt we do. No denying they cut corners quite a lot, I agree. I’m just glad to see modern content from the shows and stuff from the Clone Wars / Prequels adapted into sets is all. But damn, we better get something with Cal Kestis this year. I have my fingers crossed that we got BD-1 last year as a compromise because they wanted to get System scaled sets out once Survivor releases. One can hope! Agree with you all that it’s looking to be an expensive year outside of this theme anyway! Quote

Also agree with @Kaijumeister that a Cal minifig is essential this year. Quote

Legofan2001 Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 By this point last year we had the entire summer leaked (minus the Kenobi sets) idk why Promobricks and others are moving at such a slow pace this year. Quote

I think they are trying to spread out big news over time, we just had some massive leaks and Rivendell just got revealed. Once traffic to those news sites dies down from all that, we'll get the summer list. Quote
ArrowBricks Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 (edited) I’d be very surprised if we don’t hear more news next week. I’d expect clarification on the May sets, over the summer wave. But at the same time I’m fairly certain this is one of the longer times we have not heard anything in terms of set names, figures for the summer. At the end of the day prices, age ranges, piece counts all exist to us all. The set names exist in the leaker circle, it’s just a waiting game sadly for them. We still need a minifig list for the Mando sets. The pirate fighter is their chance to make up for the crime of not giving us a well-deserved Babu Frik figure back in 2019/20 Might not be him personally in Mando, but at least other Anzellans appear in the same scenes as the pirates/marauders who I assume the starfighter belongs to Quote
wesker Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 Rivendell has introduced an interesting solution to minifigures without articulated legs by providing a brick built alternative for when they're seated. I'm curious whether we'll see this used for Palpatine in the upcoming Death Star Throne Room diorama as well. The figure is due for an update and a printed skirt would look much more movie accurate on both Palpatine and the Royal Guards than the combination of regular legs with a cape currently do. Quote

Kaijumeister Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 In light of the recent Marvel reveals, I’m crossing my fingers that the Star Wars summer wave doesn’t double down on non-System scale sets. The helmets and the occasional buildable droid here and there are more than sufficient. Hopefully a full summer set list isn’t as far away as it seems. Quote

I'd like to see them try a Palpy figure with the dress piece instead of a cape and legs (with the alternate pieces for sitting down), just to see how people respond. Not sure if I'd love it personally, but people have made some nice purist customs of TROS Palpy with the dress piece, so I dunno. Quote

The dress piece definitely fits better, since he doesn’t have pant legs on the outside of his outfit. It’s just that up until this point it’s been more important to have him be able to sit down in sets than use a dress piece. I feel like Palpatine with a cape is one of those weird Lego things we’ve all gotten used to that actually doesn’t make sense when you think hard and compare it to the source material, like Obi-Wan being a redhead. And it would be weird to see it change for the first time, but I’m sure we’d all get used to it after a bit, like the new Vader helmet mould. For the Royal Guards I feel like a fabric poncho would work better than a cape, since they’re another one of those characters that has a cape that doesn’t really make sense. Quote

Perhaps we will get buildable figures as it seems like we are getting quite a few in superheroes (Batman Captain America, Wolverine in addition to the current Mike's Morales, Peter Parker, Venom and Tony Stank), using system parts rather than CCBS but still. Though I'd assume it was about the 9.99 sets so maybe they are rehashing the planets series ( but honestly I'd like that). Edited February 12, 2023 by Agent Kallus Quote

Yeah, Given the small piece counts on the lower priced sets, which seem too large to consistently be CCBS, while also being priced to low for that (standard CCBS sets were around $25USD when they finished). I thinks it's reasonable to assume it's either the planets, a new wave of those "Action Battle Sets" from 2019, or a substantial number of the sets being 4+. That being said, it could also refer to the reintroduction of the dreaded Flick Fire Missiles for all we know. Quote

They only started showing up again this year being used for their original purpose(with the exception of Minecraft arrows and 4+ sets), and maybe Promobricks has yet to notice (however unlikely that may be.) In any case, I meant this more as a joke, although I do hate their existence as one of the ugliest projectiles lego has ever produced. Isn't like half the wave made of gimmick sets of some type? Luckily they can't be those stupid buildable figures the marvel sets are doing (due to being cheaper), but my money's on the horrifying return of Action Battle. 1 hour ago, BrickBob Studpants said: They were never really gone though No one's ever really gone. I'll be honest I don't get the flick missile hate. They aren't any more egregious than spring or stud shooters to me, and the projectiles at least look like missiles. (sure, they make 0 sense for lasers, but by that logic stud shooters only work when representing stun blasts or geonosian weapons.) Quote

The price points of those 3-4 cheapest sets for a summer wave, that aren't battle packs, really makes me think it's a gimmick. On the other hand, I can't see it being Action Battle either. Even back in 2019 the cheapest sets they did were pretty small for $30. At $15, we'd get, like, one cannon and a tiny build. Plus, those sets sold horribly. No idea what else it could be though. Like I said below, it might be a misunderstanding, in which case it's a new gimmick. 1 hour ago, BrickBob Studpants said: I hope not. Neither of them aesthetically fit in with normal sets.
