McMurder_them_softly Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 I hope it is Anakin's green one or the one from battlefront. But the blue one or Ahsokas would have been prime. If it's a 2017 remake, easy pass. Didn't like his custom designed starfighter, though that is not LEGOs fault. Quote
ArrowBricks Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 Genuinely have no idea why they’d go Yoda over an Ahsoka’s Jedi Interceptor. Quote

All I can think is, it's either to do with the young Jedi series or Lego has previously connected the swamp speeder with Kashyyyk and Yoda and his interceptor goes with Kashyyyk and they seem to like doing a couple of Kashyyyk sets in a wave. When they did the Droid Gunship for instance in 2019 they also did the AT-AP. Quote

Big_Daddy Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 I'd be all for a remake of that Yoda starfighter from 2017, provided that it's smaller. The problem is, even if that is the case this year it would mean a smaller fighter for a higher price. A sidebuild could somewhat justify that situation. The alternative of the set being based on the BF2 Jedi interceptor would be interesting though, I love it when TLG uses games as source materials. Quote

Could have been a Clone Wars Ahsoka to celebrate TCW so could have killed two birds with one stone with that one. I am intrigued to see if (or more likely how) this set connects to the other sets in the wave: Kashyyyk or Young Jedi Adventures. Again, surely Lego is offering something new here... the set will tank otherwise. You'd imagine not all the main characters will feature in the 4+ set. Edited February 20, 2023 by ArrowBricks Quote
BacktoBricks Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 So what 12 minifigures do you think we’ll get with the Yavin base? I’m thinking maybe: Luke (would love to see the poncho piece return but I’m guessing he’ll be in his orange jumpsuit rather than Tatooine garb), Han, Leia, R2-D2, C-3PO, Biggs Darklighter, Jek Porkins, Wedge Antilles, General Dodonna, Rebel Technician, Rebel Fleet trooper and then maybe Vander to go with the Y-Wing microfighter or just another astromech. Your first point certainly makes me think of how Lego handled Obi-Wan last year. We got sets from his show as well as the Jedi Starfighter for an AotC throwback. Loved that approach and something similar for Ahsoka would’ve been great! If there is to be any sort of synergy between Yoda’s Starfighter and another set, it’d definitely be a Kashyyyk theme. Mainly because the Young Jedi Adventures’ High Republic setting firmly sets it at least a few centuries before the PT, I can’t imagine Yoda’s ship being that ancient. Whilst I hope that Yoda’s Starfighter and the Swamp Speeder do come with at least some positive surprises minifigure-wise, it’s always possible the sets will be as banal as they sound. Anakin’s Eta-2 from 2020 only came with him and R2 after all. I’m looking forward to Promobricks giving us the full rundown of these sets, whenever they choose to do so. Quote

Yeah I was convinced they’d do it similar this time around with Ahsoka. Fair point, but it did still link to the 501st Battle Pack (in theory), and Grievous Starfighter. Yeah I can’t wait for Promobricks because we will get a better view of the figures. The wave relies on it for sure. Quote

I’d assume Luke would be in his yellow celebration outfit. And if it shows the celebration scene and has 12 minifigs, my guess would be the big 6 and something like 2 fleet troopers, Dodonna, a pilot, and a technician. Quote
Kaijumeister Posted February 20, 2023 Posted February 20, 2023 (edited) The trio’s Celebration outfits would definitely be a cool way to make the set more appealing. Can’t imagine there are any enemy characters in Yavin IV so the play scenario doesn’t have to be a conflict-based one. In fact, it would be cool if Lego went a step further and included the celebration medals as pieces instead of prints, the moulds do exist after all. Luke’s yellow jacket attire is so cool, especially after being prominent throughout the 2015 Marvel Star Wars comic run. Edited February 20, 2023 by Kaijumeister Quote

I honestly wonder if lego is purposely sabotaging cheap sets with the mechs+price hike for the N1 and sabotaging the prequels with this Yoda interceptor remake. Like who asked for any of this crap? If the excuse is kids need a cheap way to get Yoda, and Vader why not make figure packs with them instead? A Jedi figurepack with Yoda,Obi Wan,and Anakin would be at least semi interesting. Also a figure pack with Vader, and two stormtroopers would be popular. Quote

If the medals are separate pieces it will be interesting to see if they tweak Han's torso print to be fully buttoned up or just reuse the existing ANH figure. I'm also curious how they'll approach Celebration Leia since the Padme hairpiece that was used on the previous figure has been long retired. Abby Yates/Harleen Quinzel's bun could work as the cheap option despite missing the braid, but it would be nice to have a new mold that can also be repurposed for Slave Leia in the potentially upcoming UCS Sail Barge. NO, lego has no reason to "sabotage" prequel sets. If sets sell, lego would want to sell them. Not to mention, after they realized people wanted clones, they've made a TON of clones over the past few years. Sorry for picking on you specifically, but I see this theory all the time, and it's not only not supported by any real facts or statistics, but there's absolutely no motive for lego to do it. I mean, I'm sorry, but what? Really? Lego wants to sabotage prequel sets because... what, they don't like money? Quote
