I don't think an extra fig- astromech, grogu, or minifig- justifies a $5 price increase, but I don't think that's it. I think due to inflation and lego's own price increases, microfighters just cost $15 in general now. And as a result, I think we're seeing the mechs replace them, since they... I guess will seem more "worth" $15 to people, given the marvel mechs are now $15? I'm not sure. 14 minutes ago, Fulcrumfan91 said: Yeah, I agree. More than that, you think "I don't like sand" is one of the most iconic lines from ANY MOVIE? I'd like to live in whatever world you seem to be in. As for botching the AOTC anniversary, that's our fault. All signs seem to point to the AT-TE originally being AOTC based before it was changed to include P2 cody since people wanted him so badly. Maybe in terms of percentage of screen time relative to eachother, but I think they're both on screen for under a minute or two tops. It wouldn't make a difference in lego's eyes, especially considering we literally just got a non canon legion. I know it’s hardcore fans but let’s be real it’s hardcore fans buying 18+ sets. But TONS of people have Hayden at cons sign jars of sand ask him about sand. So sure kids wouldn’t care for that as a set. But adults and teens 100% would (just like if lego were to randomly make a set with Bully Maguire sure kids may not care but any fans of those movies would freak out) Quote

This is why the dioramas and helmets start out with the most popular eras and characters, they're testing the waters. And there's a difference between asking a guy a question or having him sign sand as a joke and spending $80 on a lego set because haha funny sand line. Same with Bully Maguire. Would it be funny if he was in a set? Yes. Would many people buy a $80 diorama of Bully maguire dancing in front of the elevator doors? Definately not. Look the idea of a new swamp speeder is interesting IF it’s 327th but who was actually was asking for a swamp speeder remake ESPECIALLY if it ends up being Kashyyyk clones. Well, it’s not like there are a lot of small clone vehicles to choose from. The AT-RT, BARC Speeder, Fighter Tank, Swamp Speeder and, in the case of the newer 501st set, a shrunken down AV-7 cannon pretty much cover all the clone-centric builds Lego could include in these pseudo-battle packs. Whether people were asking for any given vehicle is somewhat irrelevant, the factor that draws people in are whatever clone figures are included. (And as unintentionally funny as it is, “I don’t like sand” is definitely not one of the most iconic film lines of all time.) I somewhat agree with the general idea of what you’re saying though, just not specifically to the prequels. I do think Lego makes some pretty baffling decisions sometimes, especially this summer with sets like another Yoda’s Starfighter and the buildable Chewbacca. (I’d even argue that, even though I’m excited for it, it’s still a bit of an odd time to do Yavin IV as well, when it seems like there’s so much demand for other sets that could have filled that $160 range at this time.) Even though I think Lego *generally* has a good pulse on what the fans want, and what will also sell with kids, I still find myself questioning the logic behind some of their decisions. 45 minutes ago, omegabadbatch said: inquisitor ship was revelead in 1 day of kenobi show and duel 2 weeks later. Adding onto this, we also got the 501st set (the first one that is) revealed in the middle of TCW Final Season’s run and the Bad Batch Shuttle revealed shortly after that show began the following year. I definitely think we’re going to see these May/Mando sets very soon. I’m curious to see what new figures we get between these two sets and what their distribution will be. I’m guessing: -Some generic pirate, an updated Greef Carga and some other third figure in the Snubfighter. -An updated Bo-Katan, that leaked Death Watch Mandalorian, a reused TIE Pilot, reused Mando (with updated helmet printing and potentially a new darksaber mold) and reused Grogu in the Interceptor Vs. Fang Fighter set. With how prominent The Armorer and Paz Vizsla are in the marketing for Season 3, it kinda seems poorly timed for Lego to have retired that Mandalorian Forge set at the end of last year. (Kind of like how they retired the Bad Batch Shuttle days before Season 2 began.) I wonder if we’ll see them reuse those two figures in either of these sets or the one coming out in the summer. Personally I wouldn't mind 41st Clones because I missed out on those, but if it would make more of you people happy I'd rather have the 327th ones -As much as I adore the PT I had to look up what the Geonosis arena looks like from the outside and what I saw doesn't look like something we'll ever see as a set, even if it was from the OT -Dioramas don't really interest me up until now but if there were one with "I don't like sand" I'd be all over that. We shouldn't underestimate the power of memes! -I don't know about sales in general but over the past years I've only wanted a fraction of all sets released. If there'd be more (non-clone) PT sets I would be way more interested than OT remakes, so they'd be maing more money from me personally. But as I said, I just might be in the minority there. It all comes down to sales. You may be right: Zam's Speeder Chase (or other PT movie sets) may appeal to more people than another Clone set, however, Clone fans are more likely to buy 2x 3x 5x 10x copies of a set - and that's where the recent surge in Clone sets (but not necessarily broader PT sets) is coming from. In that regard, the division absolutely matters. There've been numerous options for people to build up their 41st. Yes, I'm probably buying 1 copy of the Swap Speeder either way. Multiples if they include a Kashyyyk AT-RT driver. But nowhere near as many copies as if it includes the Star Corps - who hasn't been made since the 00s and is thus effectively incompatible with modern Clone armies. Don't get me wrong: I, too, want more PT sets. But for (a) the broadest appeal it's OT whereas for (b) the "deepest" appeal it's Clones. Stormies > Clones, ok ok, but in terms of cumulative sales opportunities 501st + 212th + Shinies + etc. etc. etc. > Stormies. There's also (c) for hype but that tends to be the latest movie or shows. The fiscal case for anything else to squeeze itself in is a difficult one to make, unfortunately. Quote

No. The meditation chamber is far more iconic and well-known as a location than the "I don't like sand" palisade among the 18+ demographic. "I don't like sand" is just known as a meme, or worse, an example of how terrible a lot of the dialogue and acting in the prequels was. You cannot seriously be saying that, when faced with the option between a meditation chamber set or "I don't like sand" set, more people in general would chose to spend their money on the haha funny meme. It's not like an impulse buy set, either. While hardcore Star Wars fans like the prequels, the average adult who is nostalgic for Star Wars (the primary audience of LEGO 18+ sets and literally the reason the 18+ branding EXISTS) remembers them as those bad movies full of bad acting and bad writing. Attack of the Clones is often considered the worst of the three, with the romance between Anakin and Padmé being considered the worst thing in the original six-film saga. (As someone who loves AotC, even I abhor those scenes.) The odds of getting any expensive collectors sets based on that romance is laughable. If we get any prequel dioramas (which will likely be based on how well the Clone helmets sell), they would almost certainly be based on Revenge of the Sith, as that is almost universally considered the best of the three films and has most of the iconic, diorama-able moments. (Also note that all of the diorama scenes thus far have been picked because of the actual scene, not the quote. In fact, several of the quotes used (especially in the non-SW dioramas) are pretty forgettable and only there to fit with the line. They aren't going to make a $70 tan balcony because it's associated with an ironic meme quote, especially when, in the highly unlikely event LEGO really wanted to make a meme diorama, "I have the high ground" is far more visually interesting.) Well, the $200 set clearly isn't for kids. It exists because Lego has become obsessed with targeting that casual adult crowd ever since the pandemic started and they think that that audience mostly only cares about these (in my opinion) lame and boring busts and buildable objects versus large playsets. I don't understand why they chose Chewbacca to do one of these with, and I expect it to do as poorly as the Black Panther bust. As for the Yoda Interceptor, I have no clue what Lego was thinking there, aside from throwing out an easy way to get Yoda and R2 or maybe it does have something to do with Young Jedi Adventures like someone else pointed out. 11 minutes ago, Legofan2001 said: It’s more like they hate TPM and especially AOTC. Lego doesn't hate any of the movies but with a franchise as massive as Star Wars, you can't represent every piece of content equally. The OT, Mando and any new live-action content and, more recently, TCW/ROTS are their bread and butter; everything beyond that is secondary. TPM and AOTC are two of the least popular films in the franchise, and as others have pointed out, a lot of the vehicle designs and characters are shared with the more popular TCW/ ROTS. You also seem to be confusing the prequels' popularity in meme/nerd culture with their overall perception everywhere. Those movies are nowhere on the same level as the OT and even The Mandalorian in the eyes of most. 15 minutes ago, omegabadbatch said: wow third version of greef karga That man only wears drip.
