Im curious what boba will be in his mech. If from bobf then it will sell poorly.

On the one hand, the figure exists in production already, so it would make sense. But its already available in a cheap set. So I'm calling that either: it's old skool boba. Or it's a variant of the new boba, maybe with a fixed helmet?

Considering that the other two mechs are Original Trilogy-based, Boba will almost certainly be as well.

This is my guess, purely because it feels like they're hoping people will buy these just for the figures (I did it for the wolverine mech, so I'm not blameless here), and the existence of the Slave One microfighter kneecaps this mech if it's got the exact same fig. Even with an (arguably cooler-looking) OT boba, $5 is a lot to a kid, so we'll see.

@Agent Kallus here was how I counted it, in battle packs since.. I guess mid 2020, which is a bit of an arbitrary placement, but I was trying to get the post-sequel era.

mid 2020: 501st battle pack

2021: nothing

2022: hoth rebel pack, snowtrooper pack, p1 clone pack, clone fighter tank

2023: 501st trooper pack, upcoming swamp speeder (which you can't tell me isn't a battle pack, at $25 for 106 pieces it's got to be)

I don't count the Marauder since even though it's the same price point as the Tank, I do feel like there's a difference between 2 stormies, a mortar stormie, and Carga and 3 187th clones, Mace, and 2 b1s. But there's definately some wiggle room for either including it or excluding the tank. With either of them, or going back a few years, you definately narrow that majority to just a plurality, but clones still get the lion's share of battle packs nowadays compared to other factions. Not exactly a pressing issue, but if we're down to 2 battle packs a year, both of them $19.99 or more, it'd be nice to at least get some other factions.

Oh, and I reject the classification of Mando sets as automatically OT. Something like the marauder, if we're counting it as a battle pack, I could see, since it's imperial stormtroopers, but the battle pack of 4 generic mandos isn't really an OT pack.

How so? I doubt most kids give a damn which version of Boba it is. All they see is a Boba Fett mech and that's it  Besides, that version of Boba actually has action scenes and stuff. OT Boba did nothing other than standing around and falling into the Sarlacc Pit :laugh_hard:

I think the issue is that TBoBF Boba is available in a cheaper set ($10 microfighter), so there's some overlap there.  I suppose that could be a good litmus test as to whether or not mechs or microfighters sell better, though, since having two of the same figure on the shelves at the same time (the only difference being their vehicle) would be an interesting way to see which people prefer.

But, I agree that kids probably don't really care.  At least when I was a kid, I would've known the difference between different variants, but I wouldn't have made a point to collect all of the variations.  If I got one Boba, that was good enough.

with mechs we can get better better minifigures like jango fett, general grevious. In microfighters were often pilots

I mean both of those characters have ships, and I’d much rather get a microfighter than a mech for both.

If you are counting the republic tank that includes 3 troops (technically one of them is the commander anyway so only 2 generic clones) and one other named character minifig (ignoring droids as they aren't minifigs) for £34.99 then you have to count the imperial tank that comes with 3 troops (and though he is a specialist the mortar trooper is still more generic than the 187th commander) and one other named character minifig for £34.99.

And I didn't include the set we don't have solid info on, because we don't have solid info on it, for all we know it could only come with jedi and wookies.

And in my defense on the last part I said OT era not OT.

dark trooper set?

Yeah, I'd definitely count that as a battlepack too. You can't tell me anyone bought that for any reason other than the Dark Troopers.

Oh yeah that should count too if the two tanks do!

I actually quite liked getting an imperial ship interior corridor and I didn't have a RotJ Luke .. but yeah the dark troopers were a big appeal.

Just a friendly reminder that Mando Season 3 begins airing tomorrow. Please wait at least 1 week after each episode drops before talking about anything spoilery. If there's something you must mention, and it's appropriate to the thread, please use spoiler tags.

lego_insider_news has been rumoring about some upcoming 18+ stuff and just announced that the republic swamp speeder could have rex. cautiously optimistic.

I know this is a hot take but I would prefer that Rex didn’t come in this set. We have an opportunity to get a new clone legion and commander as well as a few different options for a Jedi. I feel like Rex SHOULD come in a cheaper set, but I don’t think that a swamp speeder is the right choice.

i definitely see the argument, but personally, i think p2 rex in a cheap set during the anniversary just makes sense. would 100% buy just for rex.

I am very happy to be getting Rex, but I agree completely. Rex has never even been shown near an ISP, so his inclusion is even stranger, and since the set is most likely an army-builder (or at least, it had better be at $25 for 108 pieces!), the most likely Clone unit for the other Minifigs is the 501st (cannibalising sales from the Battle Pack). 🤔

You know what, I'm fine with that. So long as it still includes a reasonable number of figures, (3 minifigs and 2 droids minimum, since that 106 piece count means anything less and it's drastically overpriced)

@FoggyFate confirmed that the Swamp Speeder has four Minifigs, but did not comment (that I have seen) on the inclusion of droids.

A thought: Do we know that the leaked blue Mando is from one of the Mandalorian Season 3 sets? Maybe the Swamp Speeder is a weird Siege of Mandalore tie-in, with Rex, two 332nd Troopers, and a Mandalorian Loyalist.

Also from IG:
75361 - [Mandalorian Season 3] - $44.99, 526 Pieces, 3 Minifigs / August release

That's technically not true: Rex was shown in close proximity to ISPs during the Battle of Queel in The Clone Wars: Crash Course in 2008. He's never actually shown in the same frame as one in the comic, but it's implied that he rode in one. I don't have any opinion on the contents of the set, but that wouldn't be the weirdest source LEGO's ever pulled from.

Interesting! TIL. 👍

I just looked at some of the panels, and Rex is wearing his P1 armour - Could we be getting a P1 Rex and some Shinies? That seems strange, since P2 is the more commonly-requested variant.
