Nylock Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Honestly the pirate snub fighter doesn’t do anything for me. Build is ok but not really wowed by the ship or the figs. I’m somewhat new to this thread so idk if it’s been talked about before, but I think the ‘new’ Mando helmet looks awful. Having the top stripe halfway printed makes the fig look super cheap imo. Should’ve been a new mold given how often they’ll reuse Mando. Also crazy high prices, especially the micro fighter for 16!? Quote

It was the first thing I thought of when I saw the Snub Fighter in the show, and the set definitely has the same vibe. Probably just because of the positioning of the little wings on the side, but it's still a funny coincidence (unless one of the ship designers for the show is a big Lego fan). Yes! I thought the same thing when looking at the image of the set in plan view. The snubfighter looks nice enough, and I like the non-Vane minifig. The N-1, though... Doesn't look great. I'm not sure if it's the stud shooters or the overall proportions, or something else, but it seems very chunky compared to the TPM N-1 microfighter we got a while back. In any case, these are probably easy passes for me. If I can find the snubfighter on discount further down the line I might pick it up, but I don't need another Mando & Grogu combo, even with the new helmet. Quote
CodFather1 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I'm glad the snub fighter dosn't have interesting minifigures, the build is good, but it's very plain and just not something that I need, especially since it's only a single person fighter. The Interceptor vs Fang Fighter and Jabba's Palace are looking to be the only Star Wars sets I get this year though. I just hope the Ahsoka sets and the last Mando set turn this year around. Quote
Fulcrumfan91 Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 I like both sets tbh lol yeah way too expensive but...adding them onto my maybe list Quote
CF Mitch Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) These don't look too bad! I'm particularly glad to see the new Mandalorian helmet in metallic silver. Definitely need to get my hands on that I am kinda disappointed the Mandalorian Fang Fighter wasn't among the reveals, since that's slated for the same release period as the Microfighter, but I guess they're waiting with that until it shows up in the series, at least. Anyone can cryptically say "bad things are coming for lego star wars" and then when something disappointing inevitably happens they can say "see i told you so" Exactly. It's so open-ended that if goat's talking about something in particular there's no way of knowing what, and if it's baseless speculation it'll inevitably come true anyway. "Bad news" could mean one of our big sets (such as the unknown 1083-piece) is cancelled. It could mean the $650 set is a UCS Wokling. It could mean all the sets are good but we don't get Rex. It could mean that all the sets are good and we get Rex but he doesn't have the arm printing from TSS. It could mean that this is the worst wave of LEGO Star Wars. It could mean that this is the best wave of LEGO Star Wars but since it could hypothetically be better people will still throw a fit. If it's real it's a useless """""leak""""", and if it's fake it's an equally useless prediction. Quote

Agent Kallus Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 6 minutes ago, CF Mitch said: What's that, an Ewok youngling? Regards, Mitch Yes Could the 'disapointing news' just be that the fig selection of the snubfighter is an emotionless Vane and Vane in the pilots outfit? I think I'll still get it, I'll wait for Amazon or smyths to put it down to £20, it's not the sort of set I see them ever remaking. Though I wouldn't be surprised if we see that vane fig reused in a pirate flagship set. Quote
SEmrys Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Can't wait to get that new printed helmet. Strange that they release so far apart though. Especially considering the show will be ending in May anyway. Also strange that the new set releases on May 5th... Surely it would be better to get new sets out before Star Wars day? Quote
benderisgreat Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 So the only Mando set that wasn’t revealed yet is mandolorian fighter vs Tie interceptor. Any chance we get some cool minifigs there? If rumors about S3 are true we might see Moff Gideon in new suit this season. Also new Mando helmet looks sick, but I’ve noticed there’s no darksaber in microfighter. Does anyone also think Lego will cheap out again and not make new mold for darksaber? Quote

Surely it would be better to get new sets out before Star Wars day? Lego's done stuff like this before, most notably with the infinity war figure pack promo back in the day. If sets release after a desirable promo, such as the May the Fourth promo, there's a chance people will buy stuff they otherwise wouldn't for the promo, then buy the new sets anyway. (Course, that'd imply the promo will only be available on the fourth itself, but I can't think of any other reason for them to do it and I'm a bit cynical towards lego now due to this $16 microfighter.) 29 minutes ago, benderisgreat said: So the only Mando set that wasn’t revealed yet is mandolorian fighter vs Tie interceptor. We know there's at least one generic mando coming, my guess is we'll see a new Bo-Katan as well. Lego will not make a new darksaber mold. For some reason, they really seem to think that the lightsaber in black is fine. My opinion on the new sets: Snub Fighter: I'm almost glad it is only 2 figs, because it feels so overpriced that with 2 figs you can at least tell. If an exclusive Greef or something was included, it'd still be overpriced, but I think it'd sell a LOT better. As is, I don't think this set does well at all. No characters kids care about, and not a particularly interesting ship. N-1: Jeez, $16? Really? That's a $6 increase for 10 less pieces and what, Grogu? The fighter itself also looks off to me. Quote
PRbrickbuilder Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 - The use of the same head of two different characters is bad. Regarding the ship, gray is a not so exciting choice. My mind was believing the ship was dark blue with bits of white, but after seeing the clip on YT it is actually gray with some red markings, oh well. Repainted headpiece for Vane is great, and the set is a bit overpriced. Might get it on discount. - N-1 is better than the Razor crest MF, I'll admit. Grogu is great, but the price is very very overpriced. Let's see if this because of Grogu or because of a generalized price hike. Quote
Yperio_Bricks Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 While i like the Vane and Snubfighter pilot minifigures, the printed horns look kinda strange Quote
QuiggoldsPegLeg Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 The Snub Fighter isn’t anything to write home about, but I’ll maybe pick it up if I find it on sale or need it to meet the May 4th promo threshold. Minifigs are cool, and I prefer them over nameless troopers, but probably not enough of a draw to push me to get the set. Would’ve been a different story if Greef were included. While the fact that both Nikto use the same face is disappointing, it makes me wonder if they made it so they could use it with Jabba’s Sail Barge as well. Also that bandanna piece that Vane is using would be perfect for Kithaba or Barada… Quote
CDM Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Especially obnoxious to tease something then periodically pop into and view the thread to admire the wild speculation... Quote
LemonFlavouredBleach Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Nothing more I despise than fear mongering about a set, so obnoxious Quote
QuiggoldsPegLeg Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Looking at the faces, the horn placement and colour is pretty much perfect for Ima Gun-Di, so I might end up having to pick up this set after all. Plus having non bug-eyed Niktos is great for filling out my Cantina or Jabba’s Palace. Quote
THELEGOBATMAN Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 The sets are pretty cool, but the prices are awful. The Snub Fighter looks 25€ at most. The price increase for the Microfighters is ridiculous. Quote

Kaijumeister Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 (edited) Two solid passes IMO. Might buy the Snub Fighter at discount, but a third minifigure would’ve sweetened the pot, especially at that MSRP. Curious to know what this ‘bad news’ will be about. This is already one of the weaker years for Star Wars we’ve had in a long time so I’m not sure if I had an appetite for more disappointment. Edited March 7, 2023 by Kaijumeister Quote
1340cc Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 Snubfighter looks good but would have liked a 3rd minifig especially at the price it's going to retail at. Might still get it day 1 though, depending on what the May GWP is. Quote
Alpha Draconis Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 both sets are too expensive for what they are. Especially if you live in a small EU country where the Snubfighter is not 35€ but 38€... Bricklinking the figs for sure, the rest is a pass Quote

The snub fighter would have been the standard grumblings about the recent price hikes had it included Greef or even Mando, but with only 2 figs, I feel like it's more clear how bad the value is. 50 minutes ago, Frizzlefry25 said: Man no kidding! $16 for a microfighter?!!! I think because $16 is relatively cheap, even if it's insanely overpriced, it's going to fly under the radar and lots of parents will probably still get it, not realizing how absurd it is. Quote
CDM Posted March 7, 2023 Posted March 7, 2023 For me, the only reason I'm buying a Microfighter is to get a minifig on the cheap and part out the rest. At $16, the chances of that are less likely, especially for Mando, of which I have three already (4 if you count the advent Mando). Absolutely no interest in the Snubfighter. Quote
